PLAN QUARTER FOURTH
DATES/TIME 1:40 – 2:40

I. OBJECTIVES DAY 1
Content
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of parallel and perpendicular lines.
Standards
Performance The learner is able to communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and clarity in
Standards parallelism and perpendicularity of lines using appropriate and accurate representations.
Learning Determines the conditions under which lines and segments are parallel or

PROCEDURES
The class will be divided into five groups. Each group will be given a”WORD SEARCH”
activity. They will find all the words related to Mathematics. The group who can find all/most of
the words within 5 minutes will be the winner.

A. Reviewing

or presenting
the new lesson

The teacher will call students to recall the meaning of those words.
Who can sketch parallel lines on the screen using geogebra?
How about lines that are perpendicular to the two parallel lines?
(The students will open the geogebra application on their tablet and sketch parallel and
B. perpendicular lines.)
Establishing a What is parallelism?
purpose for the (The teacher will connect it to parallelism in English)
lesson ■ Parallelism is a balance within one or more sentences of similar phrases or clauses that
have the same grammatical structure.

PARALLEL LINES are coplanar lines that are at the same distance with each other and never
intersect.
Conditions of parallelism:
1.The pair of corresponding angles are congruent.

∠1≅∠2;∠5≅∠6
∠3≅∠4;∠7≅∠8
2. Alternate Interior angles are congruent

∠1≅∠2
∠3≅∠4

3. . Alternate exterior angles are congruent

∠ 1 ≅ ∠ 2 and ∠ 3 ≅ ∠ 4

1.Determine if the following lines are parallel by indicating the appropriate theorem or postulate.

concepts and
practicing new
skills #1

The teacher will call somebody to draw a line perpendicular to what is posted on the board. One
student will also be called to measure the angles.
Guide questions
1.How can you say that the two lines are perpendicular?
2.How many angles were formed? What kind of angles are they?

Conditions for perpendicularity

1. Two lines are perpendicular if they form four right angles.

E.
Discussing new 2. If the angles in a linear pair are congruent, then the line containing their sides are
concepts and perpendicular.
practicing new
skills #2

Find the value of x so that the two lines are parallel

To find the value of x, remember “If a transversal is
perpendicular to the first line, then it is
also perpendicular to the second line parallel to the first
line.”, so the small square and (11x– 9) ° equals to 90 °.

F. Developing With the same grouping, the teacher will facilitate a “Show Me the Board” game.
