4. At what temperature, are the readings on the Fahrenheit and Celsius scales the same?

(5 marks)

5. What is a physical quantity? (5 marks)

Find the area of one page of a book whose dimensions are 20 cm x 20 cm in cm2 and then
convert this value to m2.

Section (B)

( Answer four questions )

6.(a) The tissue of a cell is 70 A thick ( A = angstrom unit ). If 1 A = 10 m, find the thickness of

tissue in terms of an inch. ( 1 m = 39.4 in ) (7 marks)

(b) A car starting from rest travels with a uniform acceleration of 2 ms in the first 6 s. It then

travels with a constant velocity for half an hour. Find the distance travelled in the first 6 s

as well as the distance travelled in the following half an hour. (8 marks)

7.(a) A car moving with a speed of 108 kmh stops in 15 s due to a uniform acceleration. Find the

value of the acceleration. (7 marks)

(b) Compare the moon’s gravitational forces acting on the two bodies of the masses 1 M and 3
M which are falling simultaneously onto the moon’s surface from a height near the surface.

If M = 0.2 kg and the acceleration due to the gravity of the moion is 1.6 ms. Fine the

moon’s gravitational forces acting on each of the bodies. (8 marks)

8.(a) Define momentum. (7 marks)

bullet. If the bullet is fired towards the north, what is the direction of its momentum?
