LESSON 6 : Coming Together: Engaging Multidisciplinary Studies

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson, the students should be able to
Understand the concept of multidisciplinary studies;
Identify and define multidisciplinary social studies such as area studies, community
development, and development studies; and
x Explain the importance of these disciplines as fields of study and practice.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. Answer the following questions.

1. Why is employing a multidisciplinary approach necessary in the study of social


sciences? Defend your answer.
2. Explain the scope of area studies, community development, and development
studies as multidisciplinary disciplines and identify how the principles of area
studies can best be used and applied in the following fields:
A. Public policy and administration
B. Academe
C. Research and advocacy
D. Good governance

B. Create an instructional video that aims to inform people about area studies,
community development, and/or development studies. The video should be about five
(5) to fifteen (15) minutes long.
