OBS: O VERBO NESSA FORMA SEMPRE ESTARÁ DENTRO DA REGRA (ED,
IED OU D)
Ex.: Eu estudei ontem
I studied yesterday.

Ex: Ele jogou futebol com os amigos dele semana passada.


He played soccer with his friends last week.

-INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE
DID + SUBJECT + VERB + COMPLEMENT
O verbo da pergunta não estará com a regra pois o DID já está presente na
frase.
Ex.: Você estudou ontem?
Did you study yesterday?
-Yes, I studied yesterday. / Yes, I did.
- No, I didn’t study yesterday / No, I didn’t.
Ex.: Ele jogou futebol com os amigos dele semana passada?
Did he play soccer with his friends last week?
- Yes, he played soccer with his friends last week. / Yes, he did.
- No, he didn’t play soccer with his friends last week. / No, he didn’t.

- NEGATIVE SENTENCE
SUBJECT + DIDN’T + VERB + COMPLEMENT
O VERBO NÃO VAI FICAR DENTRO DA REGRA (ED, IED, D)

Ex.: Eu não estudei ontem


I didn’t study yesterday

Ex: Ele não jogou futebol com os amigos dele semana passada.
He didn’t play soccer with his friends last week

EXERCISES
1. Eu fiz a prova de matemática ontem. (verbo fazer = do)
AFIRMATIVE: I did the math test yesterday.
NEGATIVE: I didn’t do the math test yesterday.
INTERROGATIVE: Did you/I do the math test yesterday?

2. Nós assistimos Netflix mês passado.


AFIRMATIVE: We watched Netflix last month.
NEGATIVE: We didn’t watch Netflix last month.
INTERROGATIVE: Did you/we watch Netflix last month?

3. Eles gostaram da aula da semana passada.


AFIRMATIVE: They liked the last week class
NEGATIVE: They didn’t like the last week class
INTERROGATIVE: Did They like the last week class?

1 - Expressar duas ou mais ações que acontecem ao mesmo tempo.

Eu estava lendo um livro enquanto ele jogava vídeo game.
AFIRMATIVE: I was Reading a book while he playing video game.
NEGATIVE: I wasn’t Reading a book while he playing vídeo game.
INTERROGATIVE: Was I/You Reading a book while he playing vídeo
game?
2 -Expressar uma ação que foi interrompida. ( a ação que interrompe é
usada no SIMPLE PAST)
Você estava assistindo o jogo quando sua tia chegou.
AFIRMATIVE: You were watching the game when your aunt arrived.
NEGATIVE: You weren’t watching the game When your aunt arrived
INTERROGATIVE: Were you watching the game When your aunt arrived?
3 -Expressar uma ação que ocorria no passado com frequência.
(advérbios de frequencia)
Ele estava sempre pedindo dinheiro dos pais.
AFIRMATIVE: He was always asking Money for his parents.
NEGATIVE: He wasn’t Always asking Money for his parents.
INTERROGATIVE: Was he Always asking Money for his parents?

4- Para fala sobre algo que aconteceu no passado mas trazendo


lembranças para o presente (expressões de tempo)
Mês passado, por essa hora, estávamos comemorando a formatura dele.
AFIRMATIVE: By this time last month, we were celebrating his
graduation.
NEGATIVE: By this time last month, we weren’t celebrating his
graduation.
INTERROGATIVE: Were you/we celebrating his graduation by this time
last month?

Nós estávamos morando em Nova York ano passado.


Ela está usando um vestido hoje, mas ontem estava usando uma saia.

WAS/WERE + VERB-ING (gerúndio)


-Was: (I, he,she,it)
-Were ( you, They, we).

-AFIRMATIVE SENTENCE
SUBJECT + WAS/WERE (verb to be no passado) + VERB-ING +
COMPLEMENT

Ex.: Ela estava indo para a minha casa.


She was going to my house.
Ex: Nós estávamos estudando enquanto minha mãe estava limpando a
casa
We were studying while my mother was cleaning the house.

- INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE
WAS/WERE + SUBJECT + VERB-ING + COMPLEMENTO

Ex.: Ela estava indo para a minha casa?


Was she going to my house?
Ex: Você estava jogando bem ontem?
Was you playing good yesterday?

- NEGATIVE SENTENCE
SUBJECT + WASN’T/WEREN’T + VERB-ING + COMPLEMENT

Ex: Ela não estava indo para a minha casa.


She wasn’t going to my house.
