1. Complete la primera tabla con la información más relevante de los elementos que conforman las
partes de un texto o libro en inglés. Incluya las características más importantes de cada sección, así
como en qué parte del texto o libro se ubican.

TITLE The name the author gives the text.


INDEX A listing where we can locate information
regarding the page or section on which it is
located.
TABLE OF CONTENTS (TOC) The table of contents may not necessarily
have a page or section and is only a
breakdown of topics.
PREFACE Also called a proologist, it is an
introductory text that can be made by the
author or by a third.
FOREWORD Intrinsic text made by the author where it
directly questions the reader.
AUTHOR He’s the one who writes the text.
APPENDIX Paragraph with additional information;
usually paratext. Sometimes at the end of
the whole text or a section.
GLOSSARY List of words for which the reader may
require definition or explanation.
BIBLIOGRAPHY OR REFERENCES Sources from which the author obtained
the information to write the text.

Predicting/ Prediction Deduce meanings or senses from initial
elements.
Previewing the text Flip through the text.
Skimming Make a sweep of the text leaving out the
particular details and just taking the
general.
Scanning Do a visual search through the text to find
specific data.
Intensive Reading or Detailed Reading Read a text consciously, only when there is
already security of its understanding.
Ignore the words that are not important In the Skimming, leave out irrelevant
details.
Guessing unknown words Take meanings from context.
Inferring To conclude a meaning through the
present elements.
Understanding main ideas Fully understand the main ideas, whether
present in the text as such or inferred.
Understanding text organization [known The text or paragraph may be organized based
as ‘Text structure’] on its content in forms such as spatiality,
sequence, chronological order,
description, contrast, or comparison.
