CLIMATE ACTION PLAN AT HOME

HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION HABITS CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOLVE CLIMATE CHANGE

Example: Use of disposable mask Use cloth mask instead

1.)Excessive use of electricity Conserve energy by turning off lights and

electronics when not in use, and using energy-
efficient appliances. Look for appliances with
the Energy Star label, which signifies they meet
strict energy efficiency criteria.
2.)Driving a personal vehicle for short distances Walk, bike, carpool, or use public transportation
whenever possible. This helps reduce your
carbon footprint and traffic congestion. If you
must drive, consider carpooling or using fuel-
efficient vehicles.
3.)Food waste Plan meals, buy only what you need, and
compost food scraps. Meal planning helps avoid
impulse purchases and overstocking, while
composting food scraps reduces waste sent to
landfills and creates nutrient-rich soil
amendment.
4.)Frequent use of air conditioning and heating Adjust thermostats to comfortable
temperatures and dress appropriately for the
season. In warmer months, set your thermostat
a few degrees higher and wear lighter clothing.
In cooler months, wear warmer clothes and
lower the thermostat slightly. Additionally,
consider using ceiling fans for better air
circulation.
5.)High water consumption Take shorter showers, fix leaky faucets, and fully
load dishwashers and washing machines before
running them. Utilize water-efficient appliances
and consider installing low-flow showerheads
and faucets to further reduce water usage.
