The Nature of Work immersion

A Senior High School student has to undergo Work Immersion in an Industry that directly relates to the
student's post-secondary goals. It is one of the course requirements for graduation. Through Work
Immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiar with work related environment relative to
their field of specialization to enhance their competence. Specifically, the students will be able to:
(i) gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers;
(i) appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught in school;
(iii) enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
(iv) enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and
(v) develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work responsibilities of the Student

Responsibilities of the Students


The STUDENT shall:
1. attend and participate in all pre- and post-immersion activities (briefing, orientation, seminar-
workshop, and others);
2. provide an update to the work immersion coordinator/ teacher/school concerning his/her work
immersion;
3. attend and finish the required minimum number of hours of Work Immersion in the partner-industry,
4. comply to all existing school and industry rules, policy, and code of conduct;
5. advise the School Work Immersion Focal Person/ teacher/School for any related problem on his/her
work immersion; and
6. submit a copy of evaluation sheet and certificate of completion to the assigned Work Immersion Focal

The skill that needed in work immersion are; interpersonal skills is vitally important and, in reality,
can only be effectively acquired in a workplace environment. Indeed, being able to communicate
with clarity and diplomacy is an absolute requisite for any successful employee.

3. What are the duties and responsibilities of students during Work Immersion?
Student shall attend and participate in all pre- and post- immersion activities, provide an update to
the work immersion coordinator/teacher/school concerning his/her work immersion, attend and
finish the required minimum number of hours of work immersion in the partner- industry, also I

The SCHOOL shall:
1, organize and conduct pre- and post-immersion activities (briefing of the students, orientation for the
parents, seminar workshop for the students, and others),
2. identify and indicate the SHS track/s, strand/s, and/or specialization/s which will be the subject of the
partnership
3. make the needed adjustments to contextualize the SHS subjects based on inputs coming from the
partner industry;
4. designate a person who will be in charge of coordinating with the partner industry and supervising the
activities of the students for the duration of the Work immersion Program
5. continue to exercise its Special Parental Authority under the Family Code over the Senior High School
student under immersion in the premises of the partner
6. monitor each student's progress throughout the duration of the entire work immersion program so as to
make sure that the tasks assigned to each student are meaningful, challenging and applicable to his/her
particular programs and are able to maximize the quality of the learning experience
7. provide the partner industry an evaluation tool for the student's immersion performance
8. issue a final grade to the student upon completion of the requirements within a prescribed period,
9. ensure that the student will adhere to the non-disclosure policies of the partner-industry as agreed to by
the SCHOOL
10. provide signed Consent Forms from the parents as applicable
11. provide the partner-industry a Certificate of Participation in the SHS Program for whatever purpose it
may serve.

2. What is the purpose of Parent’s orientation before your Immersion?


The purpose of the orientation is to make the parents aware what their child will do during
work immersion, for them to help their child what should do.

3. Why is it necessary to evaluate your performance in Work Immersion?


Based on my research the positive learning gains suggest that work immersion enables the
students to acquire and develop the skills of teamwork, communication, attendance and
punctuality, productivity and resilience, initiative and proactivity, judgment and decision
making, dependability and reliability, attitude, and professionalism.

4. What is PPE and why is it important during workplace and facilities?


Personal Protective Equipment is important during workplace and facilities because it
exists as a preventative measure for industries that are known to be more hazardous, like
manufacturing and mining. Also, to protects its user against any physical harm or hazards
that the workplace environment may present.

5. Why is it so important that you have an orientation before you go to the Immersion area?
It is important because it can provide the students with concise and accurate information to
make, we more comfortable in the job, encourages we students’ confidence and helps the us
adapt faster to the job, contributes to a more effective, productive workforce also it can
improve our retention and without orientation, students sometimes feels uncomfortable in
his/her new position and takes longer to reach his/her full potential.
