How to do Local and Foreign Literature and Study

What is a Related Literature?
Literature refers to a collection of published information/materials on a particular area of
research or topic. Any written matter such as book, journal, magazine, novel, poetry,
yearbook, and encyclopedia are considered as literatures
What are Related Studies?
A work that was concluded after a thorough experiment or investigation is considered as a
study. Books, theses, dissertations, research projects, and research papers are all studies.
Difference between LOCAL and FOREIGN studies and literature?
LOCAL
Local studies are defined as having a wide range of topic areas and a long, flexible time
frame that represents the continuous evolution of research interests as well as the local
region.
Within the researcher's home country or local region.
FOREIGN
Foreign studies or literatures are those works that are made from a foreign background or
with compliance with the author’s own environment as another type of society.
Works outside the reseacher’s country or region.
Why is it important to include local and foreign studies and literature in you research
paper?
By incorporating both foreign and local studies ang literatures into the researcher’s work it
can provide a comprehensive understanding of their topic. Likewise, the studies provide the
investigator a background regarding the aspects, which have and not have been studied yet.
Moreover, it can provide references that will support the writer’s argument and claim that the
problem exists and needs to be investigated.
Guidelines in including local and foreign studies in your review of related
literatures/studies

 Write an introductory paragraph before you present your related literatures and
studies.
  Give at least 5 local and 5 foreign literatures, 5 local and 5 foreign studies.
(Determining whether it is local or foreign is based on the place of publication and not
the nationality of the writer.)
 Mention the areas in which your study and the relevant studies' findings are similar as
well as their differences.
 List the qualities that provide originality to your research.
 Have a last paragraph that would summarize the similarities and differences.
 Use APA (American Psychological Association) style.
