Applying

Newton's Laws of
Motion
TODAY, WE'LL LEARN ABOUT...

1. Who is Isaac Newton?

2. What are Newton's Three Laws of Motion

WHO IS ISAAC NEWTON?

Isaac Newton was the greatest English mathematician of his

generation. He laid the foundation for differential and integral
calculus. His work on optics and gravitation make him one of
the greatest scientists the world has known.
NEWTON'S FIRST LAW OF MOTION
-Every object will remain ar rest or in
INERTIA
uniform motion in a straight line unless
compelled to change its state by the action n e t f o r c e
t h e r e i s n o
-if
of an eternal force. It is also taken as Inertia. act i n g o n a o b j e c t t h e n

SECOND LAW OF MOTION
-Explains how the velocity of an object
changes when it is subjected to an
external force. The law defines a force
F= f
to be equal to change in momentum per orce
change in time. M=

ACCELERATION AND WEIGHT
This law explains the weight of objects.
2
The acceleration is equal to 9.8m/s
To know the mass of an object ; calculate its mass as
2
F=m x 9.8m/s

THIRD LAW OF MOTION

-Every action in nature there

is an equal and opposite
reaction.
