INTRODUCTION

A tutor or teacher can use any object or component as instructional

material to provide the best possible instruction. Resources include

lectures, readings, textbooks, multimedia, and other materials. They can

be either human or non-human resources. Teaching/learning materials

(TLM) and instructional materials both have similar meanings. They are

tools, including as textbooks, assignments, and supplemental materials,

that plan and assist with instructions.

Teaching/Learning Materials, often known as Instructional

Materials or TLM in education, refers to the variety of tools and teaching

aids that teachers might utilize. These educational resources are used to

support the learning objectives for all topics that are outlined in the

national curriculum by the Department for Education (DfE).

Specific learning objectives from the curriculum should be

included in every lesson a teacher designs. The children will follow a

distinct, differentiated learning sequence that is part of effective lesson

design.

In order to achieve the chosen goals. Teachers generate learning

opportunities as a part of that learning process. Teachers can provide

more interactive, fascinating, and engaging learning experiences thanks

to teaching/learning materials.

The concept of Teaching/Learning Materials is fairly broad, as

we've already seen. It is referred to as Learning and Teaching Support

Material (LTSM) in several regions of the world. The meaning of this

phrase is the same as that of in-classroom instructional and learning

materials. This can include materials created by teachers, students, and

businesses, as well as books for class reading, dictionaries, e-books,

stationery, worksheets, and science equipment.

The materials selected for a particular activity will vary depending on the

type of learning, the subject, and the materials available. The list that

follows, while not exhaustive, provides an overview of some of the most

popular teaching and learning resources utilized in classrooms.

TRADITIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Traditional educational resources are those that teachers have

traditionally utilized to impart their lessons to their students.

Crossword puzzles, storytelling, and dramatization are all used in it.

The definition of scientific concepts, acquiring terminology,

memorization, and retrieval of technical knowledge are just a few of the

learning abilities that crossword puzzles have positively influenced in

students of medical education, dentistry, and pharmacy. By providing a

rich context for facts and knowledge, storytelling increases the

effectiveness and enjoyment of the learning process. Additionally, it

fosters reading proficiency and motivates children to learn. Drama can

help students solve problems more creatively and challenge their ideas

about who they are and how the world works. Here are some reasons

why crossword puzzles, storytelling and dramatization are considered to

be most effective amongst various traditional instructional materials:

A. Crossword puzzles help students develop their creative

thinking and help them overcome boredom.

B. A crossword puzzle is one of the techniques

to teach children new vocabulary, boost their self-esteem, and

enhance team-building exercises.

C. Crossword puzzles increase vocabulary, strengthen problem-

solving abilities, boost memory and brain function, reduce

stress, and provide a sense of accomplishment.

D. The art of storytelling encourages students to think critically

and creatively, enables them to generate their own new

knowledge, makes that knowledge permanent, draws them to

the subject matter, and encourages active participation.

E. Dramatization gives students the chance to engage in critical

thinking, foster empathy, and gain a deeper understanding of

the subject matter. It also helps students learn about personal

growth and social skills, as well as how to communicate across

cultural boundaries and use other languages. It also gives the

class the chance to interpret a text of particular interest.

F. These three conventional resources enable pupils to analyze

events and solve problems in a structured and methodical way.

G. It aids pupils in understanding the logical relationship between

various ideas.

H. Students’ can use facts and data to reconsider

and re-justify their thoughts and ideas.

MODERN INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

Teachers now have access to more cutting-edge and high-tech

teaching resources than they did in the past, including overhead

projectors, slideshows, films, and various presentation software. This

involves the ease and interest with which a particular subject is

discussed. For students who get bored with typical visual aids, learning

English grammar with this type of information is preferable. The

teaching and learning processes greatly benefit from instructional

materials.

PowerPoint presentations, which include a wide range of digital

tools and resources that improve teaching and learning experiences, are

some of the most effective contemporary instructional materials. Here

are some reasons why online educational platforms are considered

effective:

A. Students are inspired to attend class and are

drawn to the innovative teaching strategies in PowerPoint

presentations.

B. PowerPoint presentations have another benefit over electronic

whiteboards: teachers can create the slides themselves in

accordance with their own unique subject-specific criteria.

C. Teachers can guarantee that every student has access to the

information being presented in class by using PowerPoint

presentations in conjunction with other teaching resources like

textbooks and handouts.

D. PowerPoint templates help keep your thoughts structured and give

your presentations a unified, professional style.

E. PPT slides are simple to share with other educators so that you can

work together on projects and homework.

F. By arranging visually pleasing and simple-to-understand

information, PowerPoint presentations can aid students in

understanding difficult ideas and remembering important details.

G. A boring lecture or dry text can be made exciting

and engaging with the use of PowerPoint. A PowerPoint

presentation may captivate students and motivate them to actively

engage in their education when done properly.

H. PowerPoint presentations give students the opportunity to engage

in a hands-on, experiment-based curriculum that helps them

visualize important ideas while keeping an eye out for multimedia

resources supplied by PowerPoint templates.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the teaching and learning resources that I

have identified as being the most useful for learners and teachers

alike may contribute to both knowledge development and

improvement.

However, in current generation, modern technology has been

successful in advancing all people in every field of professionalism.

Students' social connection, comprehension of real-world

situations and emotions, and problem-solving abilities are all

improved by using traditional teaching tools like

crossword puzzles, stories, and dramatization.

Contemporary teaching tools like PowerPoint presentations

also make a significant contribution because they make teachers'

jobs easier, arrange lessons better, and keep students' attention by

making learning engaging and fun.

Both educational tools are crucial because they are readily

available, simple to use, and encourage creativity. Both resources

can also be altered by teachers to fit their own teaching styles and

curricula, making them useful classroom resources.
