 Improvises simple accompaniment to selected
South Asia and the Middle East music.

Skills Plan a short musical presentation applying knowledge in Tala, Bhangra and Hora;

4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity ( 5  Prayer

4.2 Activity ( 5 minutes) Show a video of different Instruments in South, Central, and West Asia.

4.3 Analysis ( 5 minutes) Answer the questions.


1. What do you see on the video?
2. Do you know the instruments that they used? And how they performed it?

4.4 Abstraction ( 20 minutes) Brief Discussion of Tala, Bhangra and Hora.

4.5 Application ( 10 minutes) Activity: Planning for the Performance Task


Direction:
1. Plan on what to do in the performance task.
2. Review on the 4 Rhythmic Beat Patterns of Tala. Do the clapping, tapping,
and waving of hands again. Do it again and again in order to memorize the
patterns.
3. Choose one Christmas song that you would love to sing. Memorize the tune
and lyrics of the song you have chosen. Then, apply the beat patterns to the
song. (Ibagay ang pag clap, pag tap ug pag wave sa kamot sa beat sa kanta)
Choose one type of beat pattern that will fit to the song.
4. Improvise any membranophone/percussion instrument that you will use in
your performance. (Empty cans of milk, biscuits, etc.with cover)
5. You can incorporate/add body movements to your performance. Applying
the basic steps of Bhangra or Hora is much appreciated.
4.6 Assessment ( 2 minutes) 1. Be ready with your indigenous musical accompaniment.

2. Be sure that you have memorized the lyrics of the song and the beat
pattern that you have chosen.

3. Be sure that the beat pattern that you have chosen fits the song.

4. Be ready to incorporate movements/steps of Bhangra or Hora to your


performance if you can.

5. Choose what to wear, an outfit that you can easily secure. You may wear
also your school uniform if you like.

4.7 Assignment ( minutes)
Start your practice. Sing the song. Apply the beat pattern of your choice. Enhance
your performance with the use of improvised percussion instrument and
incorporate your performance with Bhangra or Hora basic steps.
