In this day and age, more and more contemporary attention is placed on the opinion that

elderly residents should be empowered to continue their job if it is feasible for them. From

my perspective, while I agree that this view can be beneficial in certain aspects, I believe it is

advisable that older employees should enjoy their retirement.

It is irrefutable that the elders should be encouraged to keep on doing their work if they find

satisfaction within it. To be more specific, as their wellbeing has not begun to deteriorate

dramatically, they should be able to pursue their occupation to a higher level. To illustrate,

because their creative ability does not necessarily decline by age, individuals who work in the

artistic field tend to produce their best work in the later part of their life. Moreover, some old

people do not have a family to provide emotional and financial support for them. As a result,

by spending their time mindlessly at home without any attention from their offspring, old

people may experience feelings of isolation, loneliness, and become depressed. Hence, letting

them follow their dream job enhances their mental state and helps them maintain a stable

income to sustain their life.

However, elderly people should retire due to the fact that they are more vulnerable to illness.

In other words, since their immune system gradually becomes weaker when they grow older,

the possibility of them suddenly becoming sick is higher as a consequence of stress in

workplaces, and it can be hard for them to recover after being struck by diseases.

Furthermore, even though a few people maintain robust health at their old age, they may
struggle to adapt to changes in society, especially during the technological age. In fact, most

jobs today require their employees to be familiar with technology or any disruptive shift, and

it can be a hindrance for old people who tend to be quite conservative to learn from scratch.

In conclusion, although I acknowledge that continuing to work regardless of one's age can

bring many benefits, I recognize that it may pose formidable risks to their health and career

development.
