The construction of a united nation state is a dream for most countries around the world.

This
can be considered as the pinnacle of success for the existence of a country, the government
and the people in it. In order to form a strong nation state, a nation needs to go through four
main stages, namely nation building, nation building, people's participation and the
distribution of noble values in society (Hargue & Harrop, 1992). Malaysia's struggle to create
a strong nation-state has yet to be achieved even though efforts to build a united society have
been made since the black events of May 13. Since Malaysia achieved independence on
August 31, 1957, problems related to racial unity still haunt in forming the desired nation
state. These issues are often debated by most of the community regardless of politicians,
academics and ordinary people until neglecting the aspects of appreciation, understanding
and acceptance between races has failed.

History has proven that the formation of Malaysian society that exists today is the result of an
attitude of tolerance between races. This attitude is the main key to success to ensure the
harmony of the country is always maintained. For a multi-racial country, national integration
is always something complicated but the goal is not impossible to achieve if all Malaysians
have awareness, appreciate history, realize their position and put national interests as a
priority. When all citizens are civilized in the history of the country, then the formation of a
strong nation state as desired can be achieved easily. This effort also demands that the plural
society that is in it has a high level of civilization with each other.

Being polite makes an individual able to control behavior, attitude and speech when living in
society. In the context of Malaysia as a plural country whose people are made up of various
races and religions, it is very important for a citizen to be civil to each other, civil to leaders
and most importantly civil to the history of the formation of Malaysia. This is because if a
person who holds the title of citizen is not civilized in the history of the formation of his own
country, the result is the birth of a group of individuals who lack civility towards the National
Constitution, the privileges of other races, different beliefs and religious beliefs and various
forms of negative feedback are shown without thinking about the implications that will
accepted. This kind of attitude becomes a thorn in the flesh to achieve the goal of realizing a
nation state.

The rapid development in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has
brought drastic changes to the community and industry (Őzgür, 2019). Digital transformation
has created new values that are a pillar of policy formation in most countries. This aims to
solve and manage things more effectively, create a better life for the community and maintain
healthy economic growth (Dimitrios, 2020). The role of social media is also seen as one of
the effective agents to sow and increase awareness of unity in society. Social media can be a
delivery agent that has a profound impact on the needs and interests of living together (Ku
Hasnita & Mohd Haizam, 2011). With the presence of these agents, patriotic spirit among
multi-racial communities can be injected due to the existence of information disclosures,
video screenings, and so on.
