1. The value of ( 2 + √3) ( 2 - √3)

𝑝
2. What is the form of the number 0.8?
𝑞
3 4
3. Find the six rational numbers between and
5 5
22
4. Find the decimal expansion of
7

5. Are the square roots of all positive integers irrational? If not, give an example of the
square root of a number that is a rational number.
6. Write three numbers whose decimal expansions are non-terminating non-recurring.

II. CASE STUDY: 1 x 4= 4

7) Non terminating mean (never ends): Let say a number 10 is divided by the number 3
to obtain the remainder zero, then the quotient part will be 3.33333…..and so on. Notice
that the numbers of quotient are not ending at any point of time. In this case the
remainder never be zero.
Terminating mean (has an ending): Let say a number 14 is divided by the number 5 to
obtain the remainder zero, then the quotient part will be 3.5. Notice that the numbers of
quotient are terminated. In this case the remainder will be zero.

i) What kind of decimal expansion of ⅞

(a)Terminating (b) Non terminating
(c) Non terminating repeating (d) Non terminating non repeating
ii) What is the following decimal in simplest form?
