STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
ACTION PLAN
An action plan is a plan that lists the action steps needed to achieve the project
goals and objectivesTherefore, an action plan clarifies what resources you'll
need to reach these goals, makes a timeline for the tasks or action items , and
determines what you need to do as an individual.
Steps:
1.The first step was the choosing of an appropriate and accurate topic as there
were many themes and sub themes for each lesson
2.Research based on what fairness is and how it correlated with the lesson
3.gathering and deciding upon the data which fit the project
Introduction
Definition
Significance of introspection
1. Self-Understanding:
- Introspection allows individuals to gain a deeper understanding of
themselves. By reflecting on their thoughts and feelings, people can identify
patterns, motivations, and underlying beliefs that shape their behaviour.
2. Personal Growth:
- Engaging in introspection can contribute to personal growth and
development. Recognizing strengths and weaknesses, as well as understanding
personal values and goals, can guide individuals toward positive change.
3. Emotional Intelligence:
- Introspection is a key component of emotional intelligence. By reflecting on
one's emotional responses and triggers, individuals can develop better emotional
self-regulation and interpersonal skills.
4. Problem Solving:
- When facing challenges or decision-making, introspection can help
individuals analyze their thought processes. This self-awareness can lead to
more effective problem-solving and decision-making.
6. Psychological Well-being:
- Introspection can contribute to psychological well-being by promoting
self-awareness and mindfulness. It allows individuals to recognize and manage
stressors, contributing to mental and emotional resilience.
7. Philosophical Inquiry:
- In philosophy, introspection has been a foundational method for exploring
questions related to consciousness, self-awareness, and the nature of the mind. It
has played a crucial role in philosophical traditions.
11
Despite its significance, it's important to note that introspection has limitations.
It is subjective, and individuals may not always be fully aware of or accurate in
reporting their internal experiences. Additionally, the subjective nature of
introspection has led to skepticism in certain scientific circles, with a preference
for more objective research methods. Nonetheless, for personal development
and self-discovery, introspection remains a valuable tool.

Impact of Introspection
(Case study on keeping quiet)
The poet starts the poem with “ And now we will count to twelve” because
through counting up to twelve in an attempt to remain calm and still. He wants
to make mankind realise the futility of their mindless words and actions and
encourage people to introspect for their own good.By not speaking in any
language but one(slinece),, people may not indulge in reasoning, disputes and
quarrels as they have been indulging in wars and bloodsheds on minor
excuses. So, this would let them keep quiet and not speak in any language. This
will ensure peace and prosperity. The poet wants us to keep quiet because this
moment of quietness will give us the time to meditate and introspect upon the
kind of turmoil we have created on earth through our ill-actions. Too much
activity and rush has only brought misfortunes to mankind, so it is better to be
quiet and still..The poet wants us to do nothing and remain inactive for one
second. The phrase ‘not move our arms’ from the lesson implies that no physical
activity should be carried out for a second. Man has used his arms only to kill
and destroy others. Therefore, let him not move his arms to harm others.
Pablo Neruda wishes for that exotic moment when mankind will be free from
greed, cruelty and harmful actions. Unnecessary rush and noise have caused
unpleasantness and troubles. The poet wishes the noise of engines and machines
should cease and peace and tranquility should prevail. The “sudden strangeness”
13
The “fisherman” that the poet mentions is symbolic of the people we see all
around us. It is the work of the fisherman to catch whales and if the fisherman
does not harm whales the whales will not harm us and there will be peace all
around. The message conveyed by the poet which is asked in the third question is
that we should not be violent and we should keep ourselves away from all kinds
of violence which include self-torturing.The image created by the poet which is
asked in the last line is an image of total harmony everywhere and where people
have the time to be still and enjoy themselves.
The different wars Neruda mentions in the poem are green wars, wars with gas,
wars with fire. Neruda feels that these chemical and nuclear wars and the war
that man wages against nature will lead him towards his doom.
the poet especially says that keeping quiet should not be confused with total
inactivity. He wants no association with death. He wants to keep quiet as this
will prepare mankind for introspection and regeneration. The suspension of
activities will give us time to introspect and reflect on our follies. It will give us
the much needed time to forget our differences, wither away our discriminations
and enter into a world of peace.
The poet mentions that If we were not so single minded about keeping our lives
moving, and for once could do nothing, perhaps a huge asilence might interrupt
this sadness of never understanding ourselvesand of threatning ourselves with
death. In this poem the poet advocates silence for self introspection. The poet
wants us to do nothing and sit for a while and think about what are we doing
14
and why are we doing so.It would help us to achieve peace of mind as we would
be able to prevent unnecessary task and focus on things which really matters in
life.
People are so engrossed in their everyday activities that they hardly take any
quiet moment for themselves. As they don’t stop, they don’t give any time for
themselves, to introspect and understand any issues in their life. They are not
aware of the impact of their actions and their words because they don’t
introspect. This lack of understanding leads to sadness. When there’s a huge
silence, people will naturally get time to look inside because there will be
nothing outside at that moment. When they finally look inside, they can
understand the cause of their issues and once they know the cause, they can
work to overcome these issues. In this way, a huge silence might interrupt the
sadness of men.
The poet takes the example of Earth. The Earth teaches us how new life springs
from dead remains, and how there is life under apparent stillness. It can also be
taken as The Earth teaches us how new life springs from dead remains. It gives
us lessons about sustaining and resurrecting life.
The poet is marking the end of the poem by leaving by writing that he’d count
till 12 and we keep quiet and hell go.The number twelve has a special
significance because there are 12 digits in a clock and for twice the amount of
time that makes up 12 hours,we keep on talking and engaging in some activity
or the other.

Student’s reflection
While introspection has faced scrutiny in scientific circles due to its subjective
nature, its role in philosophy, personal development, and certain therapeutic
practices remains undeniable. It serves as a gateway to philosophical inquiry, a
compass for navigating life's challenges, and a tool for enhancing psychological
well-being.
While introspection has faced criticism in the scientific arena, its resurgence in
qualitative research and therapeutic contexts underscores its enduring relevance.
In therapeutic settings, introspection remains a potent tool for unraveling the
intricacies of one's emotional landscape, offering a therapeutic touchstone for
individuals seeking self-discovery and healing.
In our fast-paced world, where distractions abound and external stimuli clamor
for attention, the call for introspection becomes more pronounced. It is a call to
reclaim moments of stillness, a call to pause and listen to the whispers of our
inner selves amid the cacophony of the external world. In this sense,
introspection is not merely a solitary pursuit but a communal endeavor—an
acknowledgment that the richness of our individual narratives contributes to the
collective tapestry of human experience.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, introspection serves as a profound and invaluable tool for
personal development and well-being. By delving into the depths of one's
thoughts, emotions, and actions, individuals can cultivate self-awareness,
fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
This heightened self-awareness paves the way for enhanced emotional
intelligence, improved decision-making, and a more intentional and fulfilling
life.
In a world marked by constant change and complexity, the ability to reflect upon
and learn from experiences becomes an essential skill. Introspection, therefore,
stands as a cornerstone for continuous self-improvement and a pathway to a
more enriched and purposeful life. As individuals engage in the ongoing
practice of introspection, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and
growth, contributing not only to their own well-being but also to the betterment
of the communities and relationships they inhabit.
