Objective: Classify text types (narrative, expository, persuasive)

(1) Review:
- Ask the students if they know the different types of texts and their characteristics.
- Discuss the importance of knowing the different types of texts.

(2) Motivation:
- Show a video clip of a persuasive advertisement and ask ask the students to identify the type
of text.
- Ask the students to share their favorite book and identify its type of text.

(3) Activity:
- Divide the class into three groups and assign each group a type of text (narrative, expository,
persuasive).
- Each group will create a short skit or role-play that exemplifies their assigned type of text.
- After the performance, the class will guess the type of text being portrayed.

(4) Analysis:
- Discuss the different elements of each type of text (e.g. plot for narrative, facts for expository,
arguments for persuasive).
- Ask the students to identify these elements in the skits performed.

(5) Abstraction:
- Ask the students to write a short paragraph for each type of text (narrative, expository,
persuasive) and identify the elements present in each.

(6) Application:
- Provide a real-life scenario (e.g. a job interview, a debate, a personal statement for college
application) and ask the students to identify which type of text is appropriate for the scenario
and why.
