9. SAFE WORK PROCEDURE (STEPS)

TASK STEP HAZARD MITIGATION
Establish a clear communication
protocol between the first aid attendant,
crane operator, and rigger to ensure that
information about the need for the DEP
is effectively communicated.
Have an established emergency
response plan in place that outlines the
steps to be taken when the DEP is
required, including who needs to be
informed and how.
Provide training to all personnel
involved in emergency response
procedures, including the identification
of situations where the DEP may be
required and the appropriate steps to
take.
Miscommunication

Require confirmation from the crane
operator and rigger upon receiving the
notification about the need for the DEP,
to ensure that the message is received
and understood.
Conduct regular drills and exercises to
practice emergency response
procedures, including the deployment
of the DEP, to improve coordination
and response times.
Continuous Monitoring: Continuously
monitor the situation and provide
updates as necessary to ensure that all
parties are informed and prepared for

10. SPECIALIZED EMERGENCY & FIRST AID REQUIREMENTS
In the event of emergency, commence emergency procedures in accordance with Project / Site emergency instructions.
Immediately consult the first aid attendant for any minor and/or serious injuries.

For workers on the ground level between the lock block wall and the transition box wall, rescue procedure is as follows:

• Minor injury: walkout and get assessment/treatment outside of the work area.
• Major injury: not life threatening but can't walk out on their own = flexible stretcher, worker extraction by work
group. OFA2/3 assessment and decision-making time at location.
• Major threat to life: flexible stretcher, worker extraction by work group. Assess and direct as the situation dictates.

For workers on the scaffolding, rescue procedure as follows:

• Minor injury: walkout and get assessment/treatment outside of the work area.
• Major injury: not life threatening but can't walk out on their own = Crane deploys DEP Box to location adjacent to or
on top of scaffolding if needed, and extraction via crane (if DEP box placed on
top of scaffolding, place it in such a way that distributes the loads evenly and doesn't concentrate on a specific part of the
scaffold). OFA2/3 assessment and decision-making time at location.
• Major threat to life: Crane deploys DEP Box to location adjacent to or on top of scaffolding it needed, and extraction
via crane (if DEP box placed on top of scaffolding place, it in such a way that distributes the loads evenly and doesn't
concentrate on a specific part of the scaffold). Have medical aid on the way and assess and direct as the situation dictates.

For workers on the roof, rescue procedure as follows:

• Minor injury: walkout and get assessment/treatment outside of the work area.
• Major injury: not life threatening but can't walk out on their own = Crane deploys DEP Box to location and
