DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, 80% of the students should be able to:
a. define and differentiate convex and concave polygon;
b. define the interior and exterior angles of a polygon; and
c. identify the interior and exterior angles of a convex polygon.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
• Topic: Identify the Interior and Exterior Angles of a Convex Polygon
• References: Mathematics 7 Learner’s Material
• Instructional Materials: Visual Aids, Blackboard, Chalk
III. PROCEDURES

A. PRELIMINARY a. Prayer
ACTIVITIES • The class will start the prayer
b. Greetings
• The teacher will greet the class and the students will
response
c. Checking of Attendance
• Ask the students if there any absent in the class.
d. Checking of Attendance
• Give or provide at least 10 examples of polygons in
real-life situations.
e. Motivation
- Identify which of the figures below are convex and
concave polygons.

1. 6.

2. 7.

3. 8.

4. 9.

5. 10.
B. ACTIVITY “YOU COMPLETE ME”
• The teacher will divide the class into four groups.
• Each group must have 1 whole sheet of paper and fill
the table that the teacher will provide in the class.
• Draw and name each angle to identify the interior and
exterior angles.

Polygons Number List of Interior List of

Angles
1. Quadrilateral
2. Pentagon
3. Hexagon
4. Heptagon
5. Octagon

C. ANALYSIS ➢ GUIDE QUESTIONS

• What have you observed in our activity?
• What is your basis in identifying the sides of the
figure?
• How did you find the interior angles
• How did you find the exterior angles?

D. ABSTRACTION ➢ Convex Polygon is a polygon wherein all the interior

angles are less than 180 degrees.
➢ Concave Polygon is a polygon in which one or more of
the interior angles is greater than 180 degrees.
➢ Interior angle of a polygon are the angles formed by the
consecutive sides of a polygon.
➢ Exterior angle of a polygon are angles formed when the
sides of a polygon are extended.

INTERIOR ANGLES

E. APPLICATION • The teacher will give an oral recitation to identify the

interior and exterior angles:

1. 3.
2. 4.

F. ASSESSMENT TEST I
Choose the letter of the correct answer. Write it in a ¼
sheet of paper.
1. What is convex?
a. Measure greater than 180° degrees.
b. Measure less than 180° degrees.
c. Measure at exactly 180° degrees.

2. What is concave?
a. Measure greater than 180° degrees.
b. Measure less than 180° degrees.
c. Measure at exactly 180° degrees.

3. Which of the following describes convex polygon?

a. b. c.

4. Which of the following below is concave?

a. b. c.

5. What is the difference between interior and exterior

angles?
a. Interior angles are the angles formed by the
consecutive sides while exterior angles are formed
when the side are extended.
b. Interior angles refer to all those angles that are
outside the figure while exterior angle is an angle that
is made by an angle inside.
c. Both a and b

TEST II
Label and name each angle that are given below. Identify
and list down the interior and exterior angles below.

1. 2.
Interior: ____________ Interior: ___________
Exterior: ___________ Exterior: ____________

3. 4.
