B.BARANGAY PROBLEMS (individual)

-Roadwork constructions around the Timpolok area causes

lots of traffic especially during rush hours. Tricycle drivers and
other transportation are required to take other and longer
routes than the usual routes to get to their location

-The traffic that occurs in front of Aldea Timpolok happens

every day since the road has been under construction. It affects the people when it comes to
transportation since it takes lots and lots of time waiting for the other vehicles to cross the one
way road.

.
Both of the problems in my baranggay is in these two pictures.
First is the parking beside the road, this affects us because, it
makes the road narrow and it gives other vehicles a hard time to
pass. Second is the lack of light in the streets, it makes walking or driving a lot harder without
street lights.

C. BARANGAY SERVICES/ ACTIVITIES :

1. Each member will take pictures of the
services or activities inititated by your brgy.
to serve the people better. Under each
picture describe how these services help
the people in the brgy.

-The people can benefit by this by having a clean

environment and having the opportunity to
volunteer increases their physical and mental
stability as well as their discipline as a resident in
the barangay.

- People are encouraged and love

to exercise and dance. One of the
main benefits of this is keeping
the community unified through
community ZUMBAS like this.

- The people are motivated through the physical activities conveyed by the barangay
especially with the youth when it
comes to basketball. People
enjoy watching sports games like this.
2. Interview a Brgy. Official (chosen Brgy)

¤ Picture of Brgy. Official

¤ Name of Brgy. Official

Angelo T. Igot

¤ Age: 40 Years Old

¤ Address: Sitio Tribu, Abuno, Pajac

¤ Position: Barangay Councilor

¤ Number of years of service: 10 Years

Guide Questions:

¤Why did you choose to be a public servant?

“My father was also a barangay councillor so when he retired, he encouraged me to run for
the position as well as his replacement which I did not oppose of the idea, so I did what he
asked. I got lucky and won.”

¤ What is the nature of your work?

“The nature of work of a barangay councillor is, making good resolutions and other than that,
I also have committee that I am handling. I’m the committee chairman of infrastructure and
committee of urban poor and development, committee of laws and order.

¤ What are the problems you have encountered?

The biggest problem I faced in the barangay is drugs and trashes.

¤ What Brgy. Problem are you most challenged?

“The ones that I mentioned before, drugs and trashes”

¤ What are the necessary actions or solutions to that said problem?

“So for the drugs, the barangay is coordinating with the national police because we know that
we can’t handle a situation like these ourselves we need as much help as possible. Aside from
that, the barangay has a program called CBDRP or Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation
Program; it is initiated by the barangay captain. So what we do is we call on or catch the ones
that are involved with drugs and we invite them to that program and that programs involves
counselling, sports activities for them to get their addictions off their minds and we give them
a good livelihood. For trashes, we initiated clean-up drives every Saturday and our barangay
are purchasing garbage trucks so the collection of trashes won’t be hard and we’ve set
deadlines on when you should throw out your trashes, Monday through Saturday is the
collection of trashes.”
¤ What is in the brgy. that the residents should be proud of?
“Well, here in Pajac, our place is known for guitars. We can see many guitar shops here and
many people make guitars here as well, very skilled and talented. And, every January there is
an organization called “Sinulog sa Pajac” so that’s one of the first events we really
emphasized, especially with the guitar making”

D: REFLECTION:

1. Write your insights/ learnings

We have realized that there are different people in different baranggay with different
problems. There are problems in our different baranggays that needs to be fixed right away in
order to keep the beauty of our baranggay. We need teamwork and a great leader to keep a
baranggay clean and happy. We must join programs and activities in our baranggay to help
the people of our baranggay. Every baranggay has its own uniqueness and beauty, we must
spread that beauty and be proud of our baranggay.

2. How is your current state of relationship with your brgy. and how is your participation in
Brgy. Service
We definitely consider ourselves as responsible residents of this barangay since we want to
promote a clean environment and a positive living condition. We would describe our current
state of relationship with this barangay as a healthy and constructive one which would spring
up wholesome barriers between the residents and the government officials

3. End with an action plan: How can you be of service to your brgy.?
A barangay needs everyone's participation. With everyone's participation it could lead to a
harmonious community that serves as a place that brings comfort to all. I would heavily
encourage all the people around to give it their best when it comes to barangay activities.
