III. LESSON PROCEDURE

Teacher Activity Students Activity
A. Daily Routine
A. Prayer
“Let’s pray first.” (One student leads the prayer)

B. Greetings

“Good Morning Class!” “Good Morning Ma’am”

C. Classroom Management

“Before you take your seat, kindly pick up the trash (The student will pick up the
trash and arrange their chairs
under your seats and arrange your chair properly”
and be seated)

D. Checking of Attendance

“Class monitor may I know who are the

absent for today?”
“None ma’am”

“Good there’s no absent today”

B. LESSON PROPER

A. Motivation

Instruction: I need 5 boys and 5 girls all you need to

do is fall in line and answer my given question about
multiplication table and the rest of the class will tell
if the answer is correct

B. Presentation
“Okay class, based on what Ive done what do you
thick is the purpose why I let you do the activity”

“I think ma’am to fresh in up

our mind”
“Okay, to fresh in up your mind “

“Okay, but before we proceed to our topic let us

recall what we tackle last meeting its about
quadratic formula anyone what is quadratic formula
can anyone read?”

(One of the students read the

presentation)

“Very good, so we all know the quadratic formula

−𝑏±√𝑏2 −4𝑎𝑐
which is 𝑥=
2𝑎
“I have her an equation
𝑥 2 + 5𝑥 + 6 = 0
“what is a, b and c?”
“a=1 b=5 c=6”
“okay so we have a b and c lets apply the formula all
of the variable lets change it to number
−5 ± √52 − 4(1)(6)
𝑥=
2(1)
−5 ± √25 − 24
𝑥=
2
−5 ± √1
𝑥=
2
−5+1 −5−1
𝑥= 𝑥=
2 2
𝑥 = −2 𝑥 = −3

“Do you understand class”

“Yes ma’am”

“If you don’t have any question let’s move to

our topic a Quadratic Function anyone
please read”

(One of the students read the

form)

A quadratic function is a second-degree polynomial

2
represented as f(x)=𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 ,or y=𝑎(𝑥 −
ℎ)2 + 𝑘 where a, b and c are real number

“We all know that f(x) is y, and other things to

remember class that 𝑎 ≠ 0 because if it’s not it is
called linear function, always remember that class”
“Yes ma’am”

“And other things that we need to remember is the

form of quadratic function kindly read the form”
2
Standard Form: 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐
2
Vertex Form:𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑎(𝑥 − ℎ) + 𝑘

“very body read the 2 form”

(All of the student read the

from)
okay so we all know the form and another thing

that the graph of quadratic function is a parabola.

Are you still familiar in parabola?”
(Some of the student raise their
hands)

“are we clear class? now let’s do the example 1 for

quadratic function

“Yes ma’am”
Example:1
(𝑥 − 9)(𝑥 + 3) − 3 = 𝑦 − 6
“so, we have now an equation fisting to do is the foil
method who want to do the foil method”

(One on the student raise their

hand)
“okay then explain you answer”

(𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 9𝑥 − 2)

“I do the foil method which is

first term second is outher term
next is inner term and the last
term”
“okay so copy the −3 = 𝑦 − 6𝑥
(𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 9𝑥 − 2) − 3 = 𝑦 − 6𝑥
𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 − 30 + 6𝑥 = 𝑦
“Ma’am where 6x come from”

“I transpose the−6𝑥 to other side so it will become

positive ay question class?”

“None ma’am”
“Do you have any question about quadratic
function?”

“None ma’am”
“If you don’t have any question let’s talk about
vertex form how wants to read the definition?”

(One of the students read the

definition)
A quadratic function in standard form can also be
written in another form such as the vertex form.
2
This form is written as 𝑦 = 𝑎(𝑥 − ℎ) + 𝑘 where
𝑏
a, h and k are real number and 𝑎 ≠ 0 and ℎ = − 2𝑎
4𝑎𝑐−𝑏 2
and 𝑘 = 4𝑎 are called vertex

“Do you have any idea how we can transform the

quadratic equation to vertex form do you have any
idea class?”

“None ma’am”
“I have here an example of standard form to vertex
form here’s the following step”
STEPS:
• Group the first two terms
• Complete the square
• factor and simplify
(One of the students raise their
hands)
Example 2:
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 − 5
“first let’s identify a b and c”
“a = 1 b =6 c=-5”

“okay so we have a b and c second is group the first

2
two term which is 𝑦 = (𝑥 + 6𝑥) − 5 let’s go back
tour lesson last week which is completing the
square we need to get the factor of 6
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 32 − 5 − 32
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)2 − 5 − 9
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)2 − 14
so, we have a final answer do you understand class”

“yes ma’am”
“okay so lest apply the formula of h ad k so we have
𝑏 3 3
ℎ=− = =−
2𝑎 2(1) 2

4𝑎𝑐 − 𝑏 2 4(1)(−14) − 32 59 − 9 47
𝑘= = = =
4𝑎 4(1) 4 4

“Do you understand class did you follow?”

“Yes ma’am”
“okay let’s apply vertex form to standard form
based on what we answer in example number 2”
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)2 − 14
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 3) − 14
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 3𝑥 + 9 − 14
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 − 5

“if none let’s move on to the next method using

table of values”
“please read”
(One of the student rad the
presentation)
“A quadratic function can also be determined
through its tab of value using a test called the
second difference method”

Example:

“notice that even though the first differences of the

y-values are not equal the second differences are all
equal to 2 this shows that the table models a
quadratic function “

IV.GENERALIZATION
