I. OBJECTIVE
At the ed of the lesson, the student should be able to:
• identify the steps of formula in solving for the coordinates of the vertex
• transform the quadratic functions in the form 𝑦 = 𝑎 𝑥2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 into the form 𝑦 =
𝑎(𝑥 − ℎ)2 − 𝑘
• verify if a table of values model a quadratic function
B. Greetings
C. Classroom Management
“Before you take your seat, kindly pick up the trash (The student will pick up the
trash and arrange their chairs
under your seats and arrange your chair properly”
and be seated)
D. Checking of Attendance
B. LESSON PROPER
A. Motivation
B. Presentation
“Okay class, based on what Ive done what do you
thick is the purpose why I let you do the activity”
“Yes ma’am”
Example:1
(𝑥 − 9)(𝑥 + 3) − 3 = 𝑦 − 6
“so, we have now an equation fisting to do is the foil
method who want to do the foil method”
(𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 − 9𝑥 − 2)
“None ma’am”
“Do you have any question about quadratic
function?”
“None ma’am”
“If you don’t have any question let’s talk about
vertex form how wants to read the definition?”
“None ma’am”
“I have here an example of standard form to vertex
form here’s the following step”
STEPS:
• Group the first two terms
• Complete the square
• factor and simplify
(One of the students raise their
hands)
Example 2:
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 − 5
“first let’s identify a b and c”
“a = 1 b =6 c=-5”
“yes ma’am”
“okay so lest apply the formula of h ad k so we have
𝑏 3 3
ℎ=− = =−
2𝑎 2(1) 2
4𝑎𝑐 − 𝑏 2 4(1)(−14) − 32 59 − 9 47
𝑘= = = =
4𝑎 4(1) 4 4
“Yes ma’am”
“okay let’s apply vertex form to standard form
based on what we answer in example number 2”
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)2 − 14
𝑦 = (𝑥 + 3)(𝑥 + 3) − 14
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 3𝑥 + 9 − 14
𝑦 = 𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 − 5
Example:
IV.GENERALIZATION
• What is quadratic function?
“A quadratic function is a
second-degree polynomial”
• vertex form?
"𝑦 = 𝑎(𝑥 − ℎ)2 + 𝑘”
V.APPLICATION:
• How do you think you can apply our lesson for
today in real-life situations?
C. EVALUATION:
A. Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE
if it is not

quadratic function.
2
2.The quadratic function 𝑦 = −2(𝑥 − 5) + 1 has its
vertex at (1,5)
3.The function 𝑦 = 3𝑥 + 2 is a quadratic function in
2
the form𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 where 𝑎 = 1 , 𝑏 = 3, 𝑐 =

2
4.The function 𝑦 = 𝑥 is a quadratic function in the
2
form is a quadratic function in the form𝑦 = 𝑎𝑥 +
𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 where 𝑎 = 1, 𝑏 = 0, 𝑐 = 0.
