III. Procedure:

A. Preparatory Activities

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

1. Prayer (Daily Routine)

(The teacher introduces her name to the class)

Good morning class. I am Ma’am Maebel and I will
be your teacher for today’s lesson. Yes, Ma’am!
Is that okay with you?

Okay. Before we start, we may stand up and pray?

(The teacher calls up the students for a prayer) The students will stand up and pray.

2. Greetings

Good morning once again, class. Good morning, Ma’am!

3. Checking of Attendance

Are there any absent students today? None, Ma’am.

4. Setting of Classroom

‘’Students, let me remind you the class rules

before we start our class that we are expected to
follow.’’
‘’First, don’t talk with your seatmate when
someone is talking Infront unless your name is called. ‘’Yes, ma’am!’’
Are we clear on that?’’

‘’ Very Good’’

5. Review
Before we start our discussion, I want you
to group yourselves into five. I will give Yes, ma’am! (students start to select their
you some pictures and you will identify groupmates)
what is/are common. Are we clear? Did
you understand class?
(The students will think and identify what is/are
common in the pictures).

B. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation

So, as you observed what are the common to

this picture?

(The teacher points the picture on the first

group)

Are there things that make them difference?

Yes, Ma’am!
What is/are the things common to the picture
but not found on the other picture?
‘’ Students identify the common of the picture’’.
‘’That is correct! So, our topic for today is all
about, what? Raise your hand if you have an
idea. ‘’Our topic for toady is all about what is common’’.

‘’Very good, so now let’s proceed to the next

activity. Are you ready? ‘’Yes, Ma’am.
2. ACTIVITY: Do we have a common?

(The students start with their activity)

Identify the common term of each polynomial through
prime factorization.
1. 2ab + 2ac – 2a

2. 20x2 - 12

3. x(a-b) + y(a-b)

Ask the following:

 What is the common factor? ‘’The common factor of number 1 is 2a, the second
is 4 and No.3 is a-b.’’

Yes, Ma’am.
‘’Very good, Did you answer it right?

‘’I identify the common factor by simply finding the

 How did you identify the common factor? GCF.’’

‘’Very Good! Now that you know how to find the

GCF I will now discuss, what is polynomials with
common monomial factor.’’

Common monomial factoring is the process of writing

a polynomial as a product of two polynomials, one of
which is a monomial the factors each term of the
polynomial.

Every expression has itself and the number 1 as a

factor. These are called the trivial factors. If a
monomial is the product of two or more variables or
numbers, then it will have factors other than itself and
1.
‘’The teacher will provide at least two examples.
Yes, Ma’am.
‘’Did you understand class?
3.Analysis
‘’ Polynomial is an expression of one or more
‘’What is a polynomial? algebraic terms’’.
‘’Very good!

How can we obtain factors of polynomials

using common monomial factor? ‘’ through the GCF.

4. Abstraction

‘’What do you think is the amount of courage ‘’The answer may vary their explanation’’.
needed to make up for shortcoming?

IV. Values Integration

a. At the end of the lesson, the students are able to identify the common factor by simply
finding the GCF and appreciates the importance of factoring in real-life situation.

V. Assessment

Individual Work

Instructions: Match the polynomial in column A to its factors in column B.

A. B.
1. X y + xy3 + 2x2 y3
3 2
a. xy2 (x2 + y + 2xy)
2. X3 + x2 y + xy2 b. 3(y 2 – 5y – 4)
3. 3y2 – 15y -12 c. xy (x 2 + x + y)

Find the GCF of the following monomials.

1. ax4, -a2x6, a3 x2
2. 56x2, -4x, -12
3. abx2, -axz, bxy
Factor the following polynomials.

4. 5y2 +
5. 14p2 + 21

VI. Assignment

ACTIVITY: MESSAGE FROM THE KING (Product –Factor Association)

DIRECTIONS:

This activity will give you an idea on how factors associated with products. You will match the
factors in column A with the product in column B to decode the secret message.

COLUMN A COLUMN B

1. 4x (3x – 5) A. 6x 2y2 + 3xy3 – 3xy2
