❖ Displacement (△d) – difference between an object’s final position and its starting
position.
- Does depend on direction.
2D
❖ Describe motion of objects that do not travel along straight lines
❖ Scalar
- Has magnitude but no direction
- Magnitude with specific units Speed, volume, number of pages in a book
❖ Vector
- Physical quantity that has both direction and magnitude
❖ Resultant Answer
- found by adding two vectors together
Pythagorean Theorem
a² + b² = c² -> find square root
3 ways to accelerate
Speed Up, Slow down, Change direction
❖ Wave Properties
- Wavelength (ʎ) - distance between one point on a wave and the exact same place on
the next wave.
- Frequency (f) - how many waves go past a point in one second. (unit: Hz / Hertz)
Note : Higher Frequency = more energy / Lower Frequency = less energy
- Amplitude (A) - how far the medium moves from rest position.
E = CA²
- Wave speed (v) - depends on the medium in which the wave is traveling.
Note: v = ʎ(f)
❖ D-T Graphs
- Show an object’s position as a function of time.
- x-axis: time // y-axis: distance
❖ Constant speed
- Straight segment
- / = constant positive || \ = constant negative || — = at rest
➢ Curved Segment - speed is changing
- = speeding up positive // ╮= speeding negative
- = slowing down positive // ╰ = slowing down negative
❖ Zero speed (at rest)
❖ Accelerating (speeding up)
❖ Decelerating (slowing down)
❖ The further light moves away from its source, it loses energy.
❖ Sound waves
- Compressional waves
- Produced by vibration
- Only travels through matter
❖ Decibel Scale
- Unit : dB
- Softest sound : 0 dB
- Painful sound : 120 dB
Echoes = sounds that reflect off surfaces
Repeated Echoes = Reverberation
Echolocation = process of locating things using sound
Light travels faster than sound
➢ Thermal Expansion
- All matters expand when the temperature increases.
➢ Measuring Heat
- Units : calorie & joule
- The amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1°C
- 1C = 4.18 L
❖ Transfer of Energy as Heat
- Conduction
- moves energy from one object to another when touched physically
- Conductors : materials that transfer heat easily
- Insulators : materials that do not transfer heat easily
- Convection
- transfers heat by the movement of particles in the same direction
- Radiation
- transfers heat by the use of electromagnetic waves
FILIPINO
Kaalamang Bayan
❖ Tugmang de-Gulong
manukso o mang-uyam.
- Tinatawag ring “Pagbibirong Tula”
❖ Bugtong
