A. Greetings
Good Afternoon class. Good Afternoon Sir

Before we start, let us pray first. Who wants to

Sir!
volunteer to lead our prayer?

Yes Jerald, please do the honor.

Thank You Jerald.

Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the
pieces of paper around you, arrange your chairs
properly, and you may now take your seats.

B. Checking of Attendance
Let us check our attendance for
today.
None Sir.
Who is your class secretary? Do we
have absentees?
Very good, class.
B. Reviewing or Presenting the new lesson
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
ELICIT
Let's start our lesson today with a short recap of our
last lesson.

What are isotopes?

Atoms with the same number of protons but different
numbers of neutrons are called isotopes.

What are the uses of isotopes in the medical field? It is used to diagnose and treat health conditions such as
heart disease and cancer.

Excellent, it is great that you understand our

previous lesson very well. The neutral atom and its
subatomic particles.

C. Establishing the purpose for the lesson

Before we proceed to our discussion, who wants to

read our Objectives? Sir.

Yes, Christine Joy

At the end of this session, learners are expected to:
1. explain the formation of light elements in the Big
Bang theory;
2. illustrate the different stages of the life cycles of
stars; and
3. recognize the importance of the nucleosynthesis.
Thank You Joy

D. Presenting examples/instances for the new lesson

Let’s have a game called “Photo Math”
Directions: Reveal the word by analyzing the given
set of pictures and letters.
Answer
1. Synthesis
1. 2. Big bang
3. Universe
4. Black hole
5. star

our topic for today.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

What can you observe about the picture? Sir

Yes, Jessabel Stars

Have you ever wondered what stars are made of? Stars are made up of elements and they shine because of
How are they shining? nuclear fusion

F. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2

To further in, let’s watch this video to deepen your

understanding of the formation of light elements.
YouTube video: Formation of Lighter Elements |
Stellar Nucleosynthesis
https://youtube.com/watch?v=5a18y8YModY Students will watch attentively

Alright, did you understand the video? Yes Sir,

What have you learned from the video clip? Light elements formed due to the combination of protons
and neutrons through Big Bang Nucleosynthesis.

Very well said.

Big Bang Theory and Big Bang Nucleosynthesis

Based on the video you’ve watched, what theory
proposed that the universe began through a
massive explosion? And what process makes the
formation of the light elements?

Excellent, we will now discuss how the light

elements were formed.
G. Developing mastery

According to Edward Hubble, how does our world The origin of the universe began through the explosion of
begin? a primordial atom 13.9 years ago. Since then, there’s a
claim that the universe is continually expanding.

What elements were formed during the Big Bang

Nucleosynthesis? The elements that formed in the Big Bang
Nucleosynthesis are Hydrogen, Helium and Lithium
From the concept, what do you think is the process
of creating new atomic nuclei from pre-existing
nucleons primarily protons and neutrons? This process refers to Nucleosynthesis.

Who can tell me about the other word for stars?

The other word for star is Stellar.

How does the formation of the stars begin?

The beginning of a star is called a stellar nebula. Nebula
refers to the vast clouds of gas and dust. It begins with
the collapse of the nebula by which gas and dust begin to
accrete and coalesce to form a protostar or a baby star.
How do low-mass stars begin?
The star starts along the Main sequence and then
becomes a Red Giant, where it begins to fuse helium.
After helium fusion in the Red Giant stops, the core
collapses and the outer layers of the star form a planetary
nebula. The remnant core becomes a white dwarf, a star
with low luminosity that is very dense.
How do high-mass stars begin?
They begin along the Main Sequence and then become
Red Super-giants. The high energy within this star allows
for the fusion of heavier elements. When the core
consists of iron and the star can no longer generate
sufficient energy through nuclear fusion, it results in a
Type II supernova explosion. Following the explosion,
smaller remnant cores form into neutron stars, which are
dense objects that consist of tightly packed neutrons.
Larger remnant cores become black holes, where the
gravitational forces are stronger than the nuclear forces
(which prevent the combination of subatomic particles),
and not even light can escape.

H. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

Do you have any clarifications? None Sir

Let us have a group activity, here’s the direction.

Draw and Label the sequence of the star's life cycle

with your group.

Students answer may vary.

Here’s the rubrics for this activity

I. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

Let’s have a recap;
1. What is Big Bang? Theory that explains the origin of the universe from a
cosmic explosion of a primordial atom.
2. What is Nucleosynthesis? It is a process where new elements are formed.

3. What’s is Big Bang nucleosynthesis?

Process where light elements were formed such as
Hydrogen and Helium due to the combination of protons
and neutrons.
