I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
1. how the uses of different materials are related to their properties and
structures
2. the relationship between the function and structure of biological
macromolecules
B. PERFORMANCE The learner shall be able to:
STANDARD make a creative representation of the historical development of the atom or
the chemical element in a timeline.
Thank You.
Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the
pieces of paper around you, arrange your chairs
properly, and you may now take your seats.
B. Checking of Attendance
Let us check our attendance for
today.
Who is your class secretary? Do we None Sir.
have absentees?
Very good, class.
2. Reviewing or Presenting the new lesson
TEACHER ACTIVITY STUDENT ACTIVITY
Let's start our lesson today with a short recap of our
last lesson.
Do you have an idea about what will be our topic Molecular Polarity
for today?
Excellent!
Thank You!
Picture A Picture B
Yes Sir.
Have you ever tried this game?
Water
Oil
Dishwashing liquid
10 disposable cups
Procedure
1. Obtain 2 disposable cups for each group and
prepare the following.
Set-up 1: Water + Oil
Set up 2: Detergent + Oil
2. Developing mastery
How can we determine if it is polar or non-polar? All compounds can be classified based on what type of
chemical bond is formed when the atoms are combined.
It can be used to determine whether a molecule is polar
or non-polar.
Electronegativity Difference
Examples
Molecule EN ED Type of
Bond
O2 O=3.5 0 Non-Polar
O=3.5
HCl H=2.1 0.9 Polar
Cl= 3.0
CaCl Ca=1.0 2.0 Ionic
Cl=3.0
3. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
What do you think of the implications of the It helps us to determine which molecules dissolve in
polarity of molecules in our daily lives? water. For instance, if we are using salt if we are cooking.
Salt dissolves in water because they are both polar. Also,
if we are cleaning oil in our plates, we use dishwashing
liquid to clean it.
5. Evaluating learning
V. REMARK
VI. REFECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation.
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored below
80%.
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learner
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these works?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
