IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction I. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
 Checking of attendance is done with the help of the assigned student of the day.
3. Rapid Health Assessment
o In the new set-up of learning, the teacher will assess the student’s health for the safety
of everyone, If ever someone experiencing symptoms, then the student will be sent to
the Isolation Area but if no one has a symptoms, then discussion of the day’s lesson
will follow.
4. Class Rules including safety and health protocols
o Listen and follow directions.
o Speak in English if possible.
o Raise hand before speaking or leaving your chair.
o Respect others views and opinions.
o Participate in the activities and class discussion.
o Encourage other classmates to participate.

II. Recall (Labelling of Parts)


Using the table and diagram below, the students will identify the parts and location of sub-atomic
particles of matter. The teacher will be asking for volunteers to label the diagram and fill-in the table with
the needed data. All students must also try to answer

To have maximum participation, the rest of the students will raise their thumbs up if their classmate
arrange the different sub-atomic particles in proper place and thumbs down if not.

Ask this:
1. In what other subject can you relate the planetary model of the arrangement of atom?
2. How does the moedl looks like? In what lesson in Science can you relate this?
2. If we are to connect this in Mathematics, what operations can you relate the charge of its particles?
3. Relating to the topic in ESP, what trait can you connect with the charge of its particles?

Note to teacher: Accept all possible answers. Give praise to students who shared their ideas and
reinforcement to other students who are still hesitant to participate.

1. Based on the table, what can you say about the atomic number and the number of protons?
2. What about the number of proton and the number of electrons?
3. What about the number of neutrons? Now, try to associate it with the atomic mass and the
number of protons.
Expected answers:
1. Atomic numbers and protons have the same data.
2. The number of protons is also the same as the number of electrons.
3. The number of neutrons is the difference (resultant of subtraction) between atomic mass and atomic
number/# of protons/ # of electrons.

Note to the teacher:


1. All are encouraged to answer, correct answers will be given positive feedback while wrong answers
will be asked for a guiding question until they hit the correct answer.
2. Remind the students of the class rules.

III. Discussion
The teacher must present the following equations to the class.

“Therefore we can say that …..”


Atomic Number = # of proton = # of electron
Atomic Mass = # of proton + # of Neutron
Neutron = Atomic mass- proton

Using the above given formula and relationship between atomic mass, atomic number and the numbers of
the subatomic particles, the students must be able to fill in the missing data.

The teacher will be calling for volunteers to write their answers on the visual aid.

Build an atomic model of fluorine and identify the number of protons, neutrons and electrons

The teacher will consistently roam around to monitor the progress of the work of each group and a
constant reminding student on the health protocol
