MADARIMOT
NARRATIVE REPORT

March 23, 2022

Wednesday

Due to circumstances beyond my control, this day was considered my first day. I was
one of the student-interns admitted to Iligan City East National High School - Sta. Filomena,
through our adviser's good connections. I arrived at the school with my co-interns at 7:30 in
the morning. Our adviser, Dr. Edna B. Nabua, then recommended us to Mr. Albert M. Wade,
the learning area head in science. I was apprehensive and excited at the same time since we
were about to be assigned to our cooperating teacher. I usually hope for an approachable
and accommodating cooperating teacher before this internship. Thankfully, it was granted.
Though I had no idea who my cooperating teacher was, I felt at ease and delighted by his
displayed energy.
I spent the entire day in ma'am Jane Paglinawan's classroom, alongside my co-intern,
Julyza Sayre. My cooperating teacher spent an entire day out. I have the impression that he
is quite a busy teacher. He assigned me a work, which is to organize the science modules in
preparation for tomorrow's module distribution. I can attest that it was an easy task to begin
as an intern. I also attempted to help my co-intern with her tasks, such as distributing science
modules to other sections.
As a teacher, it is critical to be adaptable to various situations and environments.
Adapting to new environments and people is a challenge for me, and this is the skill I hope
to develop as an intern. I am hoping for a personal improvement – to be able to adapt quickly
to this new environment and be socially active with these teachers from whom I am
confident I can learn a lot.

Thursday

Every Thursday, modules are retrieved and distributed to all grade 10 students. I am
anticipating a busy day. First thing in the morning, my cooperating teacher in the name of
Mr. Jeremias Omelig, Jr. taught me the flow of the retrieval and distribution of modules. I can
vouch for the fact that teaching in this modular distance learning setup presents a significant
challenge for teachers. Teachers should have a systematic approach to retrieving and
distributing modules. The best part about this one is that you can observe and interact with
the students and parents under Sir Jeremias' supervision. Knowing your students is difficult
in modular learning, which is why I am looking forward to the retrieval and distribution of
modules at some point so that I can get a glimpse of the students. Even though I do not know
them completely, I have seen them personally.
I spent the entire day waiting for students and parents. Waiting was not that
entertaining, but the most important thing is I experienced how the retrieval and
distribution of modules works. I am eternally appreciative to my cooperating teacher for his
patience in keeping me informed throughout.

Friday

On my third day as an intern, I was looking forward to being occupied with tasks.
Today, I discovered that my cooperating teacher is an all-around teacher. Indeed, a very
skillful teacher. I fully believed he was a PE teacher but was pleasantly surprised to learn
that he is a Physics major teacher. Because of his talent, especially in dancing, he is one of the
science teachers who serves as a mentor for the Special Program in the Arts (SPA).
On this particular day, my cooperating teacher was assigned the responsibility of
photographing the grade 10 completers. Sadly, I could not aid my cooperating teacher with
the preparations because I was selected by Mr. Wade to participate in their teaching
demonstration as one of the students. We were six interns posing as students to Mr. Wade's
Concave Mirrors and Mr. Rex's Bad Effects of Alcohol. It was an incredible experience for us
interns, as we will soon be conducting our teaching demonstration. It was enlightening to
hear about concave mirrors, while the other one reminded me, as an occasional drinker,
about the dangers of alcohol.
In the afternoon, I facilitated and assisted my cooperating teacher and Sir Daryl with
the pictorials. It was enjoyable to see students dressed in their uniforms. However, I recently
realized how relatable my high school teachers were on how frustrating it is when students
cannot follow simple instructions. This is how a typical classroom works. I commend both
my cooperating teacher and Sir Daryl for maintaining their composure throughout. I have
not witnessed them becoming angry with students. This is a characteristic I aspire to possess
in the future.
March 28, 2022
Monday

This day was another day for the pictorials of the grade 10 students soon to be
completers. We accommodated more than three sections of grade 10 throughout the day. I
can say that assisting my cooperating teacher as the photographer and sir Daryl was a
productive day for me. Though standing for the majority of the time was exhausting, seeing
sir Jeremias and sir Daryl joking around made me realize how much they enjoy this type of
work unrelated to teaching. These teachers are great at being flexible, which means they can
juggle multiple responsibilities at once. This prompted me to consider what things I might
contribute to my future school other than teaching.
Additionally to this day was the announcement of my involvement in the coming
Women's month culmination. All male student-interns were assigned to perform in a group
performance. At first, I was nervous about performing in front of the teachers, but then I
realized that this is all part of my internship experience. This is also a way for me to converse
with my co-interns from various departments throughout the College of Education.
March 29, 2022
Tuesday

Tuesday is my cooperating teacher's work from home day, which is also my work
from home day. However, it is considered a rest day for me because Sir Jeremias did not
assign me any tasks or assignments to complete at home. The first half of the day was spent
preparing for tomorrow's duty, while the second half was spent practicing for tomorrow's
event – Women's Month's culmination. The practice session was enjoyable. It unlocks our
other side and personalities. I can say that our dance was not bad at all if we just let enjoy
ourselves. I just keep in mind that soon if I am employed, performing on the stage is not new,
even if I will like it or not.
From that experience and seeing teachers in my assigned school, downplaying this
profession is reprehensible. Teachers are not just to teach in the school, but they have
various duties to deliver. This also made me think of myself if I am fit for this profession or
if I just need more experience to be able to conform to the different responsibilities of being
a teacher.
March 30, 2022
Wednesday

This day marked the conclusion of Women's Month. This was also the day we had to
show our performance on the stage. As sir Jeremias was one of the committees in the
program, I was able to help a little with the preparation. I consider my cooperating teacher
to be the busiest in the school as he is constantly involved in every activity in the school. One
thing I have learned from Sir Jeremias is how he exhibits his humorous side despite his hectic
schedule. What I am saying is that we all grow tired of our work at some point, even if it is
something we are passionate about. However, seeing Sir Jeremias attempt to be playful the
majority of the time in the classroom is big applause.
My favorite part of the activity was our performance. It was brief, but it will
undoubtedly be retained in my long-term memory. Performing in front of an audience forces
me to step outside of my comfort zone. This is an opportunity for me to reconsider my
perspective. That is, doing something outside of your comfort zone is fulfilling, especially
when it gives you a learning experience and helps your personal and holistic growth.
March 31, 2022
Thursday

Thursday is the day when modules will be returned to all grade 10. In our case, due
to the fact that we are approaching the end of the school year, there was no distribution of
modules. My responsibility was to wait for students or parents to submit their modules and
to allow them to sign with their names to keep track of who submitted and who did not. Most
of the students and parents passed science and Filipino subjects.
While I was waiting for the modules to return, Sir Jeremias assigned me a task. As the
grade 10 students' pictorials were completed yesterday, I was tasked with sorting all of the
grade 10 students' photographs into their respective sections. It is not difficult to work for
me. In fact, I enjoy seeing the students' different faces and am amazed at how confident they
are in front of the camera. The way students project their selves exhibits their differences in
personalities and behavior.

April 1, 2022
Friday

I had no events scheduled for today. This day was simply a day of rest for Sir Jeremias
from his hectic schedule. I took this day as an opportunity to attend and listen to the required
webinar as a DOST scholar from the Department of Science and Technology – Science
Education Institute (DOST-SEI). The objectives of this activity were to orient us about the
mandate of the SEI and the goals of the scholarship programs; and to foster patriotism and
nationalism among us and instill in us the core values of Professional Excellence, Social
Responsibility, and Servant Leadership. The webinar was not boring; it was pretty enjoyable
because I met a large number of scholars from regions 9, 10, 11, 12, CARAGA, and BARMM.
April 4, 2022
Monday

Monday is always scheduled to have a flag-raising ceremony. This time, it was hosted
by grade 10. As a student-intern under grade 10, I was able to help a bit in the preparation
of the stage. As usual, the flag-raising ceremony was not dull. There were dances and an
intermission number to keep the audience entertained.
Another activity that piqued my interest this day was the checking of exam papers.
Sir Jeremias is a physics major teacher, and as such, physics subjects are expected to be
checked. Based on the experience of my co-interns, checking papers was not that easy. Today
as I experienced checking, I agree with them. It was not easy, especially when I saw the low
scores, it made me wonder if the students had gained any knowledge on this subject. While
modular distance learning presents a challenge for students, it is the best option for
embracing the new normal. While some students received low grades, others earned fair or
even high grades. These students may be adaptable to the new normal and diligent enough
to answer and complete their modules efficiently.
April 5, 2022
Tuesday

I was still checking the students' papers for today's duty. I have been checking module
1 and module 2 of the three sections under sir Jeremias since yesterday. Though I admit, it
did make me sleepy while checking. Compared to my other co-interns, who have a lot to
check, I only have three sections to check. It occurred to me how exhausting it must be for
teachers to check students' modules and activity sheets. Particularly when essays,
infographics, and concept mapping are involved, it presents a challenge to teachers with
limited time. Much more to students who never tried giving effort in submitting their
modules; this adds to the teachers' burden. That is why teaching is not and never will be an
easy profession.
Additionally, this day was the pictorials of the teachers in grade 10. I think there are
numerous grade 10 teachers, but I only saw a few enter Sir Jeremias' classroom for the
pictorials. I observed teachers in their best attire, various auras, and distinct personalities.

April 6, 2022
Wednesday

This was my final day of scoring students' papers. It became easy for me to check
because I had almost all of the answers memorized. Sir Jeremias later assigned me to input
the scores into an excel spreadsheet. The Excel is already programmed. It is automatic once
the scores have been entered. I can honestly say that it was a piece of cake. This is one of the
advantages of technology today, from writing grades in a class record to entering grades in
excel.
Additionally, I listed the students in each section who lacked scores in Modules 1 and
2. This is to keep the advisers of each section informed of their student's progress and to
alert them to any missing activities. Though it is a hassle on the part of the teachers but this
is to give chance to the students.
At the end of the day, as teachers, we always want our students to succeed and want
to hear their side of the story regarding why they were unable to complete and submit their
modules. This is one way we can help our students even though we are embracing a new
mode of learning – modular distance learning.
April 7, 2022
Thursday

This day was unlike the previous ones. I assisted Sir Jeremias in cleaning and
reorganizing the classroom in preparation for the inspection scheduled for tomorrow. This
is to determine whether or not the classroom is prepared for upcoming face-to-face classes.
Though Sir Jeremias did the majority of the work, I am so grateful that I was able to
contribute to the arrangement and organization of the classroom. One thing I have learned
is how critical it is to create an environment conducive to learning. Numerous studies
demonstrate that the learning environment affects students' academic performance. Thus,
creating a positive learning environment for students is one way to ensure a smooth flow of
learning.
On this day, I was also tasked with checking the form 137 of Sir Jeremias' grade 10
students. I have to check if the students had failing grades from their seventh to ninth grades.
This is to keep an eye on the students' progress, especially as they approach the end of their
junior high years this year.

April 8, 2022
Friday

For the last day of the weekdays, I was able to help sir Jeremias in inputting the grades
of his students through dictating. The grades of the students are like a roller coaster ride, and
some went up while some went down. But what made me more surprised was the giving of
numerical grades of 60+. I have never encountered someone who had grades 60+. As a
future teacher, this is a reality for me that maybe someday, I will encounter this kind of grade
from my students.
In the afternoon, Sir Jeremias and his friends beautified the classroom. I could not
assist, but I was in awe of Sir Jeremias for allowing his friends to clean the classroom. As we
age, we have a lot on our minds, but helping your friends, like Sir Jeremias' friends,
demonstrates how strong their relationship and bond as friends are, even stronger than a
covalent bond.
April 11, 2022
Monday

This day was similar to any other for me as an intern, but with an added element of
excitement. Last Monday, teachers in grades 10 hosted a flag-raising ceremony that my
thesis partner and co-intern, Julyza Sayre, was able to perform on stage. On this day, most of
my classmates were able to perform their interpretative dance on stage. It was amusing to
watch your fellow interns and close friends demonstrate their hidden talents in front of the
teachers. To be surrounded by exceptionally skilled teachers just like my cooperating
teacher led me to believe that to be a teacher, you need to have another talent to share aside
from teaching. My Mondays will never be dull because the stage performances of the
teachers and my co-interns became my entertainment first thing in the morning.
This day was also one of my busiest days. The teachers were instructed by the
principal to have the giving of modules before the holy week. I am assuming that teachers
were not informed in advance and were not expecting modules to be handed out before Holy
Week because the majority of them were already busy and panicking. Sir Jeremias entrusted
me with the printing of the science modules. We were to print science modules for the ten
sections. While I waited for the modules to be printed, I assisted my other co-interns in
arranging grade 10 science modules. It was not drudging since I am with my co-interns and
met some science teachers.
Though we have not finished printing the modules, we are nearly completing all the
ten sections. This was my first-time experiencing printing modules for the students. In my
experience today, it was not that easy, especially since we are running out of time and we do
not have the materials or resources to suit all teachers. This day was a great learning
experience. Despite the urgency felt in the atmosphere, the teachers were able to display
teamwork and unity in helping each other. At the end of the day, your colleagues will always
be there in your back in difficult times.
April 12, 2022
Tuesday

The printing of science modules for the ten sections continued on this day. I
attempted to assist Sir Wade in printing his grade 10 science modules this morning. After all,
it was not dull because one teacher entertained us by watching a Netflix movie while we
printed.
In the afternoon, it was the schedule for the grade 10 in the distribution of modules. I
was instructed by the assistant of sir Daryl on what to do in the giving of modules. The
important instruction was to check the student's grades in Araling Panlipunan and
Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao if they needed to go to the subject's teachers to settle their
grades. However, there was a sudden instruction from my sir Jeremias. Student teachers are
required to be in their meetings. It was my first time to be part of the meeting with all of the
science teachers in the school. It was incredible to watch all the science teachers toss and
exchange ideas and opinions about what they needed to submit. Sir Wade presided over the
meeting as head of the science department. I also tried scribbling the requirements
presented by sir Wade, thinking my cooperating teacher would ask me about what the
meeting was all about.
The real world is significantly more challenging. That was one thing I learned from
the meeting. I thought that when you are now professionals, you have the freedom to do what
you want to do compared to being a student. I got it all wrong. To foster everyone's
professional development, there are people in high ranks who will try to assess every teacher
and every school if they are fit to the standards. It was a hassle to think that, as a teacher, you
have to take care of your students' modules and activities while considering passing
investigatory projects, lesson plans, action research, and portfolios required by the
department. Challenging, indeed.
April 18, 2022
Monday
This day was spiced up with the astounding and hysterical performances of the grade
8 teachers and interns during the flag-raising ceremony. I had a good time watching and
dancing alongside my co-interns. I was later assigned a task with sir Jeremias. I am required
to count the number of students who earned the lowest grades to the highest grades in each
subject. It was simple work for me.
In the afternoon, sir Jeremias instructed me to print the 2nd science module for this
quarter at the Physics Laboratory. I was so glad that I had something to work on. I need to
print modules for the entire ten sections, each with 40 students. Though these modules will
not be distributed this week, this is great preparation for next week. I can say that it is
preferable to be prepared before the retrieval and distribution of modules to avoid panic, as
occurred last week. This is also to avoid delays, as the printers are limited in numbers. The
printing of modules was not completed this day but will be continued tomorrow. I am
expecting a printing session tomorrow.
April 19, 2022
Tuesday

I resumed printing the second science module today. This was my task for the entire
morning in the Physics laboratory while sir Jeremias and the other teachers were preparing
for the birthday of ma'am Remielyn Omelig, sir Jeremias' sister, and the other two teachers.
With the assistance of my co-interns, Jenny and Rolina, I was able to print and arrange the
modules more quickly. I was able to print three sections before lunchtime.
The highlight of the day was the birthday celebration for ma'am Remielyn and the
other two teachers. There were various foods served, and I can attest that they were all
extremely good and delectable. Additionally, teachers were invited, the majority of whom
were science teachers. It was truly amazing to observe teachers conversing naturally while
eating. This was also a point of connection for us, the interns, at the Physics laboratory.
In the afternoon, I had to continue printing the modules. Fortunately, despite a
shortage of A4 size bond paper, I was able to print the entire ten sections. I realized how
time-consuming and laborious printing and arranging modules could be. It was not easy to
imagine a single teacher having to print for more than three sections. While some may argue
that the modular distance learning model allows teachers to have more free time than
traditional learning, they are incorrect. It doubles the effort expended by teachers when
compared to teaching the lesson directly to the students. It is better to conclude that both
students and teachers faced adversity due to this new mode of learning.
April 20, 2022
Wednesday

Because I was able to complete printing the modules yesterday, sir Jeremias assigned
me the task of distributing them to ma'am Darren Corpuz and the other sections. Though this
science module is scheduled for distribution next week, it is better to print them ahead of
time.

Apart from distributing modules to the other sections, I didn't have much work for
this day. To have work, I assisted my fellow interns with printing their modules. While
assisting, we were taken aback by the unexpected arrival of our supervising teacher, Dr. Edna
Nabua. We were overjoyed to see our adviser in person for the first time since the first day
of our internship. Dr. Nabua was interacting with our cooperating teachers, inquiring about
our progress and the scheduling of our final demonstration. I am both excited and nervous
about the upcoming schedule. Fortunately, Dr. Nabua and the cooperating teachers
scheduled it following the election. This allows me to devote additional time planning and
finalizing my topic and activities. We were then taking pictures as part of our documentation.
April 21, 2022
Thursday

This day was the retrieval and distribution of modules to all the grade 10 students. If
my memory serves me right, we distributed five modules to the students. I assisted Sir
Jeremias in grouping all five modules with their names on them so that we could see and
identify students who did not get their modules for this week. This is a way of monitoring
the grade 10 – Diego Silang students in the distribution of modules.
Apart from the module distribution, we also showed the students' third-quarter
grades. This is to inform them of their missing grades in certain subjects. I noticed that the
majority of students lack grades in science, MAPEH, Filipino, and mathematics. After
informing them about their grades, students were instructed to go to their respective subject
teachers to inquire about the requirements they need to pass to have grades.
As a teacher, one thing I have realized is that we give our students a chance in terms
of grades. Allowing students to speak about what went wrong and why they missed some
performance tasks or received low grades is one way to gain a better understanding of the
students' personal struggles at home. As teachers, our job is not only to teach a specific
subject but also to serve as the students' second parents. Without a doubt, there are
numerous reasons for the students' low-test scores and grades.
April 22, 2022
Friday

I did not have much work for this Friday. There were some students who did not
receive their modules yesterday but went to pick them up today. While I awaited some
students, I volunteered to retrieve the science answer sheets for the four sections that were
retrieved yesterday. I always like walking around the campus and seeing students, faculty,
and my other co-interns.
In the afternoon, I was assigned to assist in the retrieval and distribution of modules
to the senior high school STEM-C. I had a good time seeing new faces of students.
Additionally, this afternoon was Do Day. Teachers and students were cleaning the inside and
outside of the classroom. I also tried sweeping the floor outside our classroom while waiting
for the STEM students. Though most of the time, sir Jeremias helped clean the front view of
our building. It was nice to observe teachers laughing, enjoying, and taking pictures of
themselves while cleaning.

April 25, 2022

Monday

Sir Jeremias was quite busy with his dance class. Fortunately, I was called by ma'am
Jane Paglinawan, the cooperating teacher of Julyza Sayre, to help photocopy their modules.
Since I did not have a task given by my cooperating teacher, I was able to help. For the whole
day, I was in the Physics laboratory together with my co-interns, Julyza Sayre, Jenny Lucero,
and Rolina Lofamia. The four of us helped each other in the printing of grade 8 science
modules that would be distributed tomorrow.
However, certain circumstances are beyond our control. We encountered a few issues
while printing modules. The printer was not functioning properly. This is probably because
the printer was overworked and did not get enough rest. The saving grace was that one
teacher contacted a technician who, I believe, is also a teacher at the school to inspect and
repair the printer. As we were the ones using the printer, the teacher also taught us ways
how to fix it if any problems occurred.
I learned from this day how essential for a person to know how to fix things, especially
in our case, we were helpless on what to do because we did not know how to resolve the
issue. Though, we were able to print the whole module in four sections.
April 26, 2022
Tuesday

This day was the start of checking the first module with my cooperating teacher, sir
Jeremias. One thing I learned from this is how difficult it is to check a solution to a problem.
There are numerous factors to consider when assigning points to the students' solutions. If
answering the physics module is difficult for students, it is also difficult for teachers to check
students' solutions, particularly if they are not written clearly or contain an incorrect
answer. Thus far, some students have earned a high score, while others have earned a low
score.
I am not yet finished checking, but I am hopeful that I will be able to complete all
sections before the schedule of the distribution and retrieval of the module this coming
Thursday. The early checking of the first module gives us lesser work in the following days
or weeks, especially given Sir Jeremias's hectic schedule and the approaching election.

April 27, 2022

Wednesday

Sir Jeremias assigned me the task of computing the science grades of his grade 9
students in the morning. My first assignment was to input all of the students' names in the
four sections: Goquinco, Hindang Falls, Langilanon Falls, and Obusan. Using my laptop made
it easy to input all the names of the students. For the whole morning, this was my task.
Since I was not that busy, I was given a task by sir Daryl to arrange and staple his
mathematics modules. This was my first experience assisting Sir Daryl. It was satisfying at
times to help other teachers. Following that, I assisted Sir Jeremias in organizing the modules
for tomorrow's distribution. Each module has a name to identify students who have not yet
received their modules. I can honestly say that I was so productive. I had several tasks
completed for today.
April 28, 2022
Thursday

This day was the last retrieval and distribution of modules before the student's two-
week vacation. The students were bombarded with many modules to be answered and
completed within their two-week vacation. Additionally, Sir Jeremias tasked me with
informing those students who require additional attention from their mathematics teacher
and those who have not yet passed their English essay.
For the whole morning, I was the only one in the classroom. Most teachers attended
the PTA meeting at the gymnasium. Some students and parents submitted their modules and
answer sheets in the morning, while others did so in the afternoon. There were modules
remaining, suggesting that some students had not yet obtained their modules. I have realized
that these students may not have completed all modules within the given time or may have
more pressing matters to attend to. At home, various factors contribute to students failing to
pass their modules on time or receiving low grades.
Being understanding is a significant feature of a teacher. To be considerate of late
modules and tasks and sympathetic to each student's situation is ingrained in the teachers
here at ICENHS-Sta. Filomena. Based on this observation, I hope that I can incorporate this
into my future classroom.

April 29, 2022

Friday

On the final day of the weekdays, I spent the entire morning checking the students'
physics papers. It took me some time to check each paper because they all involved problem-
solving. Though it took some time, I was still enjoying myself because one of my classmates
and co-intern entertained me with her chikas.
I was still checking in the afternoon, but I spent more time conversing with my other
co-intern major in PE, soliciting suggestions for his upcoming final demonstration on
Monday. Sir Daryl and Sir Jeremias provided us with suggestions and advice on how to
prepare for a successful teaching demonstration. Additionally, my cooperating teacher
permitted me to work from home for the entire two weeks beginning this Monday. For the
next two weeks, my tasks include checking the module 1 papers for all four sections,
recording the scores, making action research, and preparing for the coming
teaching demonstration.
I am always appreciative of my cooperating teacher, sir Jeremias, for his
consideration and always being on the go. Though my work from home is not yet final, I am
thankful for his guidance and advice from the start of my internship until now.
May 16, 2022
Monday

This was the first day of my two-week election-related vacation. Over the past few
days, I have been preparing my lesson plan for my final teaching demonstration, which will
take place on Wednesday. Upon entering the classroom, I was surprised to see students
seated comfortably in the classroom. Unbeknownst to me, these students were reviewing for
the upcoming National Achievement Test (NAT).
As a routine every Monday, I attended the flag-raising ceremony at the gymnasium. I
actually missed dancing while laughing with my co-interns and teachers around. It was great
seeing my co-interns wearing our uniforms, utterly unaware of the surroundings while
laughing.
Additionally, I let my cooperating teacher, sir Jeremias, check and review my lesson
plan for the final teaching demonstration. As a student, I need the expert's feedback and
suggestions to improve the flow of my lesson plan. I am constantly instructing myself to be
receptive to criticisms and opinions. In short, to be teachable, I recognize that I am still a
student and require some guidance from an expert.
I spent the entire afternoon preparing for my teaching demonstration while the other
students in the classroom reviewed their NAT. Sir Jeremias informed me that we will practice
my teaching demonstration so that they can see where I need to improve. This made me
anxious and excited at the same time.

May 17, 2022

Tuesday

This day was my demonstration in front of Sir Jeremiah and Sir Daryl prior to
teaching. Naturally, I was nervous the entire time, but I knew I needed this so that sir
Jeremias and sir Daryl could suggest and advise me on the areas in which I still need to
improve. I conducted my teaching demonstration in ma'am Marife's classroom. It was nerve-
wracking when I began my demonstration, but it subsided in the middle and the end of the
demo.
To have a pre-demonstration was a smart move on the part of my cooperating
teacher. Sir Jeremias, madame Marife, and sir Daryl provided numerous suggestions and
recommendations. I was awestruck as I listened to them. I realized that there are multiple
areas in which I must develop as a teacher. The teachers' years of experience made them
exceptional and knowledgeable in teaching.
Together with my fellow interns, I was planning and cleaning the physics laboratory
in the afternoon. We hurriedly arranged the chairs and tables because we had many things
to prepare for tomorrow's climactic moment. Hoping for a successful teaching
demonstration tomorrow!
May 18, 2022
Wednesday

This day marked my final teaching demonstration. I attempted to remain calm most
of the time, not to allow my anxiety to consume me. As a second demonstrator, I had the
opportunity to observe my co-intern. I was amazed at how well she handled the class despite
her initial nervousness. To maintain my composure, I prepared the visual aids and materials
for my experiment. When it was my turn, it was over in a flash. I just realized that I was
directing the experiment in front of the stage. Even though technical errors occurred in the
middle of my teaching demonstration, I expected them to occur, and I know that some
technical errors may happen, so I consider this to be somewhat normal.
I am eternally grateful to the individuals who contributed to the success of my
teaching demonstration. Sir Jeremias, my cooperating instructor, and the other critics are
appreciative of our efforts in this demonstration. Of course, there are things we need to
improve upon, but I am aware that these are essential in the field. I affirm that my final
teaching demonstration was a great learning experience for me. I am happy and relieved that
finally, I am done, and it was a success.
May 19, 2022
Thursday

It was overwhelming to begin a typical day following my last teaching demonstration.

This day marked the retrieval of modules that were distributed before the election. Since I
have a CED Research Forum research presentation this afternoon and sir Jeremias has a
water safety activity, sir Jeremias instructed the students to combine all answer sheets and
modules into one belt. This is to keep each student's modules intact. I will be the one to sort
every module after all modules have been retrieved.
The entire morning was peaceful. I waited patiently for the students in my section
and sir Dar's section to arrive and pass their worked-hard modules. Despite the difficulty of
some subjects, I realized that these students worked diligently to read and answer the
modules in order to pass on time. Despite the fact that some students answered the modules
without fully answering them, they still attended school to pass. I suppose that is considered
a point for effort.
The College of Education at MSU – Iligan Institute of Technology hosted the Research
Forum in the afternoon. My research partner, Julyza Sayre, and I were tasked with presenting
our undergraduate thesis. It was an enriching experience learning some of the students'
research in the College of Education.

Friday

I was surprised to see students present in class. I had forgotten that this was the last
day of these students' National Achievement Test (NAT) preparation. It was gratifying to
observe students in class. The noise, the disarrangements of chairs, and their every reaction
during oral recitation made the classroom a typical classroom, just like during the face-to-
face time.
While the students were engaged in review, I sorted the answer sheets and modules
of Diego Silang students. It was enjoyable actually to work to avoid feeling sleepy. I was also
invited to witness the Special Program in the Arts' (SPA) theatrical performances. I was
astounded by how well they performed their role. Kudos!
In the afternoon, I was in the Physics Laboratory to assist my co-interns with their
final teaching demonstration. I was genuinely impressed by the proficiency of my co-interns
in demonstrating their chosen lesson.
I learned that in order to become an expert in a particular field, one must first be a
novice. From my teaching demonstration to the demonstration today, I've realized that all
the comments and suggestions from the critics are incredibly beneficial to our development
as future teachers. Rooting for more experience.

Monday

This day started with a flag-raising ceremony. I have been an intern here for months,
but I am still unfamiliar with the Iligan march and Galaw Pilipinas dance steps. However,
dancing with my co-interns and instructors was already fun and enjoyable.
I continued sorting the students' answer sheets and modules in the morning. Students
submitted more than five subjects; therefore, it took me some time to complete the sorting.
After sorting, I gave some of the modules to the subject teachers and gathered the science
modules for the four 9th grade sections under sir Jeremiah. Once more, I was invited to
attend the SPA students' recital. Though it was the same last Friday, different students played
different roles. This demonstrates the student's versatility.
In the afternoon, I was preoccupied with checking the students' science module
answer sheets. My goal is to complete checking all 2nd modules by the end of this week, as
we will be assigned to offices beginning next week. Sir Jeremiah also tasked me with
calculating the students' grades for this quarter, and thus, I must double my efforts as I have
a limited amount of time remaining in my internship.

Tuesday

This day was the final teaching demonstration of ma'am Julyza Sayre and sir Dinnes
Frank Ambag. Of course, as a supportive friend and classmate, I tried helping with their
preparations in the Physics laboratory. Also, on this day, I was able to meet Professor Ellen
Castro, one of my chemistry professors, for the first time in person. It was a profound joy
watching your friends excelling in their teaching demonstration despite the short time
changing the flow of their lesson. Although I would never recommend that a teacher alter the
flow of a student's lesson the night before, I have observed that this situation demonstrates
the student's adaptability and resilience.
In the afternoon, I was surprised by the presence of students in the classroom. These
students are those who studied for the NAT. Since their NAT test date has been rescheduled,
they will continue to study in the days leading up to the exam. I continued checking the
papers for grade 9 in four sections to keep myself occupied.

Wednesday

In the morning, I continued returning submitted modules to some subject teachers.

Even though some teachers were nowhere to be found inside the campus, it was amusing to
stroll around. In addition, I resumed checking the papers and was on the third section of
checking.
The challenging part of this day was obtaining the students' answer sheets for the
Obusan section. When I arrived at the SPA building to retrieve the papers, the room was
always closed. Indeed, I was always at the wrong timing. I observed that the teacher in that
section preferred to be in other classrooms with her colleagues or that she was extremely
busy.
I recorded the students' scores in an Excel spreadsheet in the afternoon. There were
students with good grades, while others needed to study more and exert more effort. Some
students had not yet passed the modules; some in module 1, others in module 2, and others
in both. As a teacher, this will be a significant issue. The teacher must have an action plan for
providing a solution to this type of problem.
Additionally, I have heard that teachers were discouraged from giving failing grades.
It is difficult for teachers to give a passing grade to students who have not passed any
modules in a situation like this. That is why it is difficult for me as a future teacher to consider
this, as I wish to adhere to my principle of giving students the grade they deserve. I guess I
am not yet ready to be in the teaching field.

Thursday

This day was the retrieval and distribution of modules to the students. As students
were preparing and reviewing for the upcoming Regional Achievement Test (RAT), the
modules were placed outside the classroom. All I have to do is assist the students in the
modules on their section: Emilio Jacinto and Diego Silang. While waiting for the students, I
was able to obtain the module 2 answer sheets of the section Obusan. Finally!
I was in a slight rush checking the papers of all four sections because starting next
week. I will be assigned to the offices like the Guidance Office, Home economics/Canteen,
and Library. My goal is to check and record all the four sections in this module 2 to have
fewer tasks for the next week, which will be checking module 3 papers. I realized from this
those teachers are busier in the modular distance learning setup. Their works are doubled
compared to the face-to-face one. They are even busier when seminars need to be attended
or recitals, just like sir Jeremias. From last week's water safety activities, my cooperating
teacher is currently preparing for their upcoming recital. I learned that to be a teacher, one
needs to be good in different areas, not just an expert in the subject matter.

Friday

On this day, Sir Jeremias was not around since he had an activity outside the school
with some of the teachers. I was left in the classroom together with sir Dar. For my task this
day, I continued checking the module 2 papers and recording them. I really thought I was
done checking all the papers yesterday, but there were late submissions from one section.
There were also students who had not passed their modules yet but came today. I tried
assisting them and answering their queries.
I enjoyed hearing the students' review sessions as well. I can say I have gained
knowledge from their review. It was a simple but essential lesson. I had intended to sort the
student-submitted modules but decided not to due to the small number of submissions.
This day consisted primarily of checking and recording the students' papers and
reviewing their grades repeatedly. This is to prevent errors, particularly in recording
students' scores.
