Hybrid Sense Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 BR0157

This hybrid sunscreen combines Croda’s inorganic Solaveil™ CT-100

and Solaveil CZ-300 together with organic filters to deliver high
protection with good transparency on the skin. Developed using a
combination of Croda’s Crodamol™ range of emollients and Cithrol™
range of emulsifiers, this high protection sunscreen has a light, pleasant
sensory that is easily spreadable.

Technical Information:

• UV Filter: To achieve High Performance with Maximum Transparency and Easy to Process, no
dust handling or pre-dispersion facilities required:
Solaveil Clarus (TiO2 and ZnO Nano-sized particle) and Organic UV Filters.

o Solaveil Clarus Oil Dispersion: Solaveil CT-100 and Solaveil CZ-300 - for ease of
handling. And with carrier fluid that have good compatibility with organic sunscreens
due to the solvent properties (100 – Crodamol AB).
o Organic UV: avoid using: Octocrylene, Homosalate, Benzophenone-3, Ethylhexyl
Methoxycinnamate.

• Emollients: Crodamol AB, Crodamol GTCC and Crodamol PC that are good solubilizers for
organic UV filters besides the light sensorial and low viscosity to offer good spreadability and
aesthetic for the formula. High Natural % (ISO16128) for Crodamol GTCC 100% and Crodamol PC
75%.

• Emulsifiers: Association of Cithrol PG32IS and Cithrol DPHS is a highly efficient W/O emulsifier
system to give good stability for sunscreen formulas besides this type of emulsion are a very
efficient vehicle for sunscreen actives, and is particularly suitable for oil-based dispersions of
TiO2 and ZnO.

o Cithrol PG32IS is a good dispersing medium for inorganic pigments, as its liquid form is
compatible for cold process. Is 100% Natural (ISO 16128)
Cithrol DPHS has an excellent stabilisation due to high molecular weight, and large
polymeric oil- and water phase anchors. Easy and reproducible emulsion processing,
including semi-cold process.

Procedure:
• Auxiliar beaker: Combine Part A (Aqueous phase) and stir until homogenous. Heat until 75-80°C.
• Main beaker: Combine Part B (Emollients and Organic UV filters), and with stirring heat until 80-85°C. Maintain for
10min at 80-85°C with stirring, or until total solubilization of Organic UV filters.
o Advice: Turn off the agitation to be able to asses the total solubilization of UV filters. In order to guarantee
the performance.
o Solubilization test (screening): Evaluate this phase for 7 days at 25°C and 5°C to visualize the solubility
of the filters. If it has good solubility, there will be no crystal formation.
• After complete solubilization of Organic UV filters, add Part C (emulsifiers, preservative and Solaveil Oil Dispersions)
to Part B, with stirring. Continue heating until 80-85°C.
• Emulsification stage: At 80-85°C add Part A to Part B/C slowly with high stirring. Homogenize with Ultra-Turrax at
10,000rpm for 1 minutes per 100g.
• After homogenization, start cooling until 25°C with stirring.
• At 25-30°C add Part D (Sensory modifier) (Obs: Add below 40°C (Starch) to ensure sensory modifier functionality).
Homogenize with Ultra-Turrax at 4000rpm for 2 min, until get homogeneous system.
