GRADE LEVEL Dd/mm/year
TOPIC Illustrating SAS, ASA and SSS Congruence Postulates
LEARNING
Illustrate the SAS, ASA and SSS congruence postulates
COMPETENCY
OBJECTIVES a. Define included angle and included side of a triangle;
b. Identify included angle and included side of a triangle; and
c. Understand included angle and included side of a triangle.
IMPORTANT: Do not write anything on this material. Write your answer on your answer sheets.

Included Angle – is the angle between two sides of a triangle.

Observation:
The common vertex or common endpoint of the two named sides is the included angle.

Included Side – the side common to two angles of a triangle.

Observation:
The vertices of the two named angles determine an included side.

Activity 1. Where Am I?
Consider the location map below. Answer the questions that follow. Write your answers in a
separate sheet of paper.

A. Identify the following places.

1. The corner between Cortes St. and Rizal St.
2. The corner between Rizal St. and the National Highway.
3. The corner between National Highway and Cortes St.
B. Identify the street common to each place.
1. Leyanne’s residence and the Barangay Health Center.
2. Barangay Hall and Leyanne’s residence.
3. Barangay Hall and the Barangay Health Center.

Activity 2. Rename Me!

Refer to the location map in “Activity 1. Where Am I?”, rename Leyanne’s residence as A, Barangay
Hall as B, and the Barangay Health Center as C.
1. What is the name of the triangle formed?
2. What are the vertices of the triangle?
3. What are the sides of the triangle?
4. What angle is between AB and AC ? between BC and CA ? between BA and BC ?
5. What side is common to ∠ A and ∠ B? ∠ B and ∠ C ? ∠ C and ∠ A ?

Activity 3: Imagine Me!

Given ∆ FOR , can you answer the following questions even without the figure?

1. What is the included angle between FO and ¿?

2. What is the included angle between FR and FO ?
3. What is the included angle between FR and RO ?
4. What is the included side between ∠ F and ∠ R ?
5. What is the included side between ∠ O and ∠ R ?
6. What is the included side between ∠ F and ∠ O ?

Directions: Read the questions carefully and choose the letter of the correct answer.
1. Given ∆ LOT , what is the included angle between LO and OT ?
a. ∠ L b. ∠ O c. ∠ T d. ∠ TLO
2. Given ∆ MAD , what is the included side between ∠ M and ∠ D ?
a. AD b. AM c. MA d. MD
3. Given ∆ RED , what is the included side between ∠ E and ∠ D ?
a. DR b. ED c. RD d. ℜ
For item #4, refer to the given statements below. (MULTISTRUCTURAL)
I. The angle between two sides of a triangle.
II. The side common to two angles of a triangle.
III. The vertices of the two named angles.
IV. The common vertex or endpoint of the two named sides.
4. Which statement/s describe about included side?
a. I and II c. II only
b. I and IV d. II and III
5. Which triangle shows that the angle marked is the included angle?

a. b. c. d.
Activity 4: Let’s Camp!
Directions: Read the situation below and answer the following questions.
During the Boys/Girls Scout Camping, the scouts were asked to build their own tent by platoon.
Suppose you are one of the scouts and your platoon built a tent with a front view as the figure
shown below.

A. List down all the included angle with its corresponding side.
Example:
1. PG and GS  ∠ G

B. List down all included side with its corresponding angle.

Example:
1. ∠ P and ∠ G  PG
