Statement of the Problem

The study aims to describe the difference in experiences between introverts and extroverts in the
grade 8 class of the Mary Help of Christians Seminary in the Binmaley Minor Seminary.

Specific Questions

Central Question

How would the grade 8 seminarians describe their experiences with the identity of an introvert or
an extrovert?

Sub-Question

1. What are the positive and negative experiences they have dealt with as an introvert or
extrovert?

2. What techniques and practices do they perform to avoid being bullied or discriminated
against?

3. Can you consider the behavior or the personality that you are holding onto as a gift? or a
nuisance?

Significance of the study

The study will benefit the following:

● Seminarians/Students. The findings of this study will improve their ability to communicate
and socialize with other people. It will make a way for the students to be open and to find
ways to cope with identity crises and social challenges in life.

● Teachers in Education. The result will enlighten them on the difficulties that their students
are undergoing. It will bring them the knowledge to show sympathy and the initiative to
help their students grow in both academic and human aspects.

● Office Managers. The result will give importance to the ability of the office managers to be
welcoming and considerate to his/her office workers, particularly the introverts and the
extroverts.

Scope and delimitation of the study

The study will involve 15 grade 8 seminarians of the Mary Help of Christians seminary between the
ages 13-14. This study will focus on their identity and experiences in life as an introvert or an
extrovert inside or outside the seminary. The study will employ the use of interviews as a method
of data gathering. The amount of time for exposure in the natural setting is limited so as not to
disturb the daily schedule of junior high school seminarians.

Definition of terms

Theoretical Definition

1. Introvert is a person whose personality is characterized by introversion. An introvert is a


typically reserved or quiet person who tends to be introspective and enjoys spending time
alone.

2. An Extrovert is a person whose personality is characterized by extroversion. An extrovert is


a typically gregarious and unreserved person who enjoys and seeks out social interaction.

3. A seminarian is a student who is studying in a seminary, especially in the Roman Catholic


Church.

Operational Definition

1. An introvert is the kind of person who avoids a group, introverts are shy and are somehow
scared to approach people. They are also nervous to start a talk with someone or to a
specific group of people.

2. Extroverts are what you call attention seekers. They always need the attention of the people,
especially their friends. They are self-centered and you can call them sycophants.

3. A seminarian is a student who needs love and care, they are fragile and the need to be with
someone’s care is important. They can be classified as an introvert or an extrovert, yet their
identity can change depending on their ability to adapt and how would the community
change them.
