REINA: A pleasant morning to everyone. On this day we will be proposing our study named LA-FALLA.

We
sustain the most damage during natural disasters, particularly earthquakes. We saw and experienced
terrain cracking, landslides, people going missing, and injuries during these earthquakes. And by that our
proponent had been researching a certain device that can help our community or even the whole world to
prevent/help this kind of situation. But before we formally start our presentation let us first introduce
ourselves. (introduced) again good afternoon, dear panelist (or teachers yung names). We are group LA-
FALLA, and our study is about a luggage following device provider of the critical role of food supplies,
communication, and power equipment.

REINA: Well, we all know that the Philippines experienced the worst earthquakes these past few years. An
earthquake occurs when two pieces of the earth's crust abruptly move past one another, it results
in seismic activity called an earthquake. As per the data provided by The Department of Science and
Technology - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the Philippines experiences around 150
earthquakes annually, and they have an adverse impact on schools, residences, and health care
facilities. These earthquakes have had a significant effect on the lives of an estimated 231,000
Filipinos, including 36,000 evacuees. Furthermore, over 1,000 school buildings have sustained
damage along with impacting over 3 million pupils.

Giving a background on the worst earthquake that happened on July 16, 1990, the Philippines
experienced one of the most disastrous earthquakes in its history, which was felt in several areas
including Dinanglan, Aurora, Kayapan, and Nueva Ecija. The earthquake that hit with a magnitude
of 7.8 started at around 4:26 p.m. and lasted for 45 seconds. The city of Baguio was struck the
hardest, with 28 buildings, including hotels, factories, government and academic institutions,
private businesses, and residential structures being destroyed. In addition, the city's infrastructure
such as electricity, water, and communication facilities were damaged as well. The earthquake left
a devastating impact on the population with over 126,035 people being displaced, 3153 others
being injured, while 312 individuals were declared missing. The death toll reached 1621, as per
reports.

But these earthquakes are nothing compared to "the big one," which could happen at any time and
cause widespread devastation. The Department of Science and Technology's Philippine Institute of
Volcanology and Seismology predicted that when the west valley fault system moves, an earthquake
with a magnitude of 7.6 will occur. LA-FALLA intends to improve the chances of survival for many
persons in this situation.

EMBER: In our research, we identified three sustainable development goals out of 17 that measure
what la-falla is attempting to do or give to the community. We have affordable and clean energy, la-
falla can provide people with clean energy in a variety of ways. For instance, la-falla can supply a light
source that is completely safe and clean, this is a solar light or solar photovoltaic, which means it does
not need to be charged because it relies primarily on the energy of the sun. The second is good health
and well-being, and la-falla's purpose is to help earthquake survivors get some help or help
themselves with its assistance. La-falla can provide a variety of services by its functions that ensure an
individual's health and safety. And lastly, zero hunger, La-falla's primary goal is to assist in the
provision and delivery of food to individuals. By doing so, we are preventing individuals from going
hungry and becoming weak. Through this study/project, we can offer food that is safe to consume
while avoiding any obstacles during the journey.

MAC: la-falla has many goals including helping to create a product that can help many survivors in a
community that was hit by a earthquake and to increase the survival rate in surviving an earthquake
nevertheless help those survivors that is not yet found to at least use the functions of the LA-FALLA to
help sustain their consciousness if they are injured, have electricity and call for someone. The aim of
our research is to develop a product that can greatly assist numerous survivors who experienced
the impact of an earthquake in their community. Our ultimate objective is to increase the rate of
survival among individuals affected by earthquakes. Furthermore, we recognize that some
survivors may be unaccounted for or unable to receive immediate attention, which is why we have
incorporated many functions in our product. This allows individuals who are injured but still
conscious and have access to electricity to use the bot's features to sustain their state of mind until
they can receive medical attention. The product also serves as a means for survivors to call for
assistance, providing the injured individuals with a sense of hope and security during an otherwise
perilous situation.

RICHARD: The research problem that we aim to address in this study is the "effectiveness of La-falla
on increasing the survival rate of Filipinos in emergencies such as earthquakes" we are investigating
or gathering some data on how la-falla can help the Filipinos survival rate increase. In addition to that
we aim to address “how will our product deliver its help or necessities with obstacles along its way”
since la-falla has this sensor that can detect obstacles on its way. We are gathering data on how la-
falla can easily avoid these hindrances. For the last one we are questioning how we can design la-falla
to deliver food, communication, and power supply fully and safely to these survivors. To answer these
questions let us move on to the next slide.

REINA: Related literature is a critical aspect of any research project. It provides a foundation for
understanding the current state of knowledge on a particular topic. This literature review will discuss
some of the most relevant and recent publications related to our research topic. We found research
from International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology that wanted to create an automatic
luggage that enabled it to follow its owner while carrying the loaders belongings. This research wanted to
create a luggage that is easy to handle and manage by everyone and another option for transporting bags
in the event of difficulty. The robot must be aware of the person's location and capable of determining its
path to pursue its target. And they considered a method using a transmitter and receiver. The robot must
also be aware of obstacles in its way to avoid collisions. They used ultrasonic sensors; The ultrasonic
sensor is the most important component in target detection. Ultrasound waves are used by the sensor to
determine distance. A unique feature of our la-falla is that it can track, see, and follow a person. Not only
can it identify an impending earthquake, but it can also detect an obstruction, which is vital because la-falla
must bring relief to individuals in need. Since there is no electricity during the big one, we reviewed how we
can make la-falla work even without electricity, and we found some research in solar panels Office of
energy efficiency and renewable energy, these researchers studied that solar radiation is light released by
the sun, also known as electromagnetic radiation. Solar technologies absorb this radiation and convert it
into usable energy. Solar energy technologies are classified into two types: photovoltaics (PV) and
concentrating solar-thermal power (CSP). We are most certainly familiar with PV, which is used in solar
panels because when the sun shines on a solar panel, the energy is absorbed by the PV cells in the panel.
This energy generates electrical charges that move in reaction to an internal electrical field in the cell,
resulting in the flow of electricity. CSP systems employ mirrors to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto
receivers, which gather solar energy and convert it to heat, which may then be used to generate electricity
or stored for later use. It is typically employed in very big power plants. Because of the solar panels, the la-
falla can operate even when there is no power. But how can la-falla detect these earthquakes? And how
can it notify a professional?

EMBER: The Philippines news agency studied a technology that notifies users in two ways: through the
search engine and directly on the Android mobile device. It gives near-instant information through Google
Search. People who search for "earthquake" or "earthquake near me" will get relevant results as well as
useful tips on what to do after an earthquake. When accelerometers detect an earthquake in a certain
location, the Android smartphone notification sends out an early warning notice. The server then uses the
information from the cell phones to determine whether an earthquake is occurring, where it is occurring,
and the magnitude of the earthquake. It transmits a signal to Google's earthquake detection service, along
with an approximate location of the shaking. This allows specialists to be easily warned in order to prepare
for an imminent earthquake.

RANIER: Before doing this investigation, we developed three hypotheses predicting what might happen,
including a null alternative and cause and effect. For our null hypothesis -The la-falla has no significant
effect on the safety and survival rate of Filipinos once The Big one happens because its functions
cannot provide useful necessities that a survivor can use in order to survive. Now for our alternative we
predicted that the la-fallat has a significant effect on the safety and survival rate of Filipinos once The
Big one happens because its functions can provide useful necessities that a survivor can use in order
to survive. For the cause and effect, we anticipated that If the lafalla is produced and is spread all over
the Philippines then it will greatly impact the safety and survival rate of Filipinos once The big one
happens. Because it has many functions such as it can provide food that is safely stored in a
container, it can provide a great communication in a way it has this radio that can provide loud sounds
or siren that can catch a person's attention letting them know that there is a survivor, it can also
provide energy that can be used because la-falla have a light that the survivor can used as a heat/light
provided by this, the la-falla can create a great impact on the safety and survival of rate of the Filipinos
once the big one happens.

EMBER: Our beneficiaries are the individuals or groups who benefit from our product. They are the
reason we exist as a group, and we strive to provide them with the best possible.
experience. One of our primary beneficiaries are the people who especially need this device because
la-falla is a life survival tool that can be used in many disasters, especially in earthquakes. People can
use it in many aspects. For example, la-falla can help them mend their injuries because there is a
compartment that can hold food, emergency kit and many necessities. Our prototype can also be used
to provide electricity, warmth, light and can assist the survivor to get some help. Next is the community
by helping a person, la-falla can also help the community by protecting it or letting it prepare in
advance from an impending earthquake. La-falla can assist in notifying our community when an
earthquake occurs so that the specific community that the la-falla notifies can be prepared to suffer
less damage. Some earthquakes are extremely devastating because they claim many lives and cause
massive destruction in a community, so this is extremely beneficial in increasing the survival rate of
people who experience earthquakes and reducing the amount of houses, schools, and other
establishments that are destroyed. Lastly Our product has versatile applications, as it is not only
designed for the benefit of others but can also be utilized for personal safety. In the unfortunate event
of a large-scale emergency, this device can be utilized to ensure our own protection. It is vital to
understand that our study can be a life-saving tool in critical situations for all users. Overall, our
beneficiaries are diverse and come from different backgrounds and circumstances. However, they all
share a common need for support and assistance, which we are committed to providing to the best of
our ability.

REINA: This part of our presentation aims to introduce the materials that will be used in our research
proposal. The materials we will be utilizing are diverse and specialized and have been carefully
selected to ensure the successful completion of our research project. First for the light on the side of
the luggage we used solar lights. The solar light has four essential parts to make it work which are the
solar photovoltaic (PV) panel, battery, control electronics, and light fixture. A solar panel uses the sun's
light when it is shining to generate electricity. After that, the energy can be used right away or stored in
a battery. The majority of solar lights are designed to generate power. Second is the base of la-falla
which is the luggage we use curv as it is the best material that we can use and is an excellent option if
you frequently travel and want luggage that lasts a long time. Bulletproof vests were once constructed
with curv material. Polypropylene is braided into many layers. As a result, the case is extremely
durable and scratch-resistant even meaning if the road has an uneven surface the luggage can still
easily get over those. You can bring more kilograms of luggage because the material is lightweight.
Even from 125 degrees Fahrenheit to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, this material keeps its shape. Since
there is no electricity during or after the big one, we applied solar panels so it can provide electricity
even though there is no power. This solar panel is a photovoltaic (PV) cell, also known as a solar cell,
can either reflect, absorb, or pass through light that strikes it. With silicon accounting for over 95% of
the modules supplied today, silicon is by far the most prevalent semiconductor material used in solar
cells. In addition, it is the most widely utilized semiconductor in computer chips and the second most
abundant element on Earth (after oxygen). The building blocks of crystalline silicon cells are silicon
atoms interconnected to create a crystal lattice. This lattice offers a well-organized structure that
improves the efficiency of turning light into electricity. We also installed a walkie talkie that is
connected to a professional to easily inform the professional that there is a survivor or an injured
person. One of our unique features is the indicator. What this does is when la-falla is blue meaning it is
still on normal mode explaining that it is still gathering energy from the sunlight but when there is an
earthquake occurring the indicator will turn red meaning the functions are fully running and it is ready
to aid other people.
