TITLE: A Sustainable Sphere-shaped Relief and Health Check-up Device as a Solution

to critical typhoon devastation and Lack of Medics.

SUMMARY:

As several homes lay tarnished and countless civilians were rendered affected by
the surges of typhoons, a solution was devised to treat each town affected by the
natural disaster effectively. Utilizing the portability of a buoyant shell, this Sustainable
Sphere or SustainaBall relief package could be the answer to the immediate treatment
of several injured.

Made up of bamboo (Bambusa Vulgaris) and laced with silicone as a sealant--

maintains a waterproof model. The SustainaBall comes in a buoyant shape ensuring
that in the case of emergent floods, the product would float and attain the ability to be
used by citizens who were stuck by the disaster. Since this portable device is
considered to be a relief good, medical kits and canned foods are provided inside this
ball.

Within this mechanism is a sensor powered by solar-charged energy. This sensor

could detect the state of their user’s health as well as injuries required to be treated at
the press of a button. And once the scan has been completed, the sphere’s hatch will
open and provide the needed materials to treat the injured person and concise
directions on how to.

Since the price of this device is costly, it will be catered mainly to the
government’s possession, as well as, enterprises willing to fund their buildings with
emergency supplies. As it is a portable device, it could factor into the efficiency of
maintaining its condition. And with the sensors, transmit a signal that alerts for the
need for reparation

BACKGROUND AND PROBLEM:

With the rise of climate change and the abundance of natural disasters, It is
inevitable for The Philippines to experience crises in seasons of local typhoons.
Especially since it has the highest risk of being struck by natural disasters due to its
location in the typhoon belt. (Iuchi, et al.) The disaster of typhoon Haiyan (locally
known as “Yolanda”) that struck on the 8th of November, 2013, left several homes
irreparable; costing the government 361 billion PHP.

Since immediate intermission lines that send backup and help are damaged,
the device created poses as a solution to eliminate the lack of resources and relief
during chaotic situations. In coastal communities, the damage is far worse than in
urban areas making the need for a product vital and a necessity. The orb-like relief
good device aids in transmitting a communicative signal that solves the problem of the
lack of signal and inter-barangay response. As a typhoon hits, it would be expected for
electrical power to go out but with an added electrical generator aspect of the
invention, it would be able to sustain each family with electricity that lasts for at least
a month. This is tentative, however, as it can be recharged by kinetic energy
conversion because of its industrial and smooth design. Along with the solar panel as
a lid hatch.

BENEFICIARIES:

The major beneficiary of a sustainable sphere is the injured civilians affected by

the typhoon. The families affected are the main ones who benefit from this contraption
as it prevents fatality through treatment and food provision. Filipino citizens would not
need to travel a long distance to reach a rescue team or relief goods, the emergency
sustainable sphere (Sustainaball) travels immediately with included relief goods and a
first aid kit to the area where the citizen needs help. Every barangay should have 5
sustainable spheres in case of an emergency disaster.

PROPOSED SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM:

Creating sustainable balls will greatly affect everyone, especially in rural areas
commonly affected by strong typhoons and earthquakes. The invention will help every
household by sending signals, dangers, and any casualties related to the damaged
area. And an immediate response and care that will be given to a person who is
suddenly injured can prolong every individual's life.
1). Deployment of satellites in the area

The invention of this project delivers signals, the outlook of damaged areas,
and provides any severe casualties that are occurring. The deployments of satellites
are advisable as they ensure safety ness, provide modern conveniences, and live
broadcasts to deliver the situation of the affected area (pagasa.dost.com June 3,
2023). The satellites will be connected to the region where municipalities are provided
and rescuers are on standby. Also, the precise deliveries of images and casualties are
24/7 so it will be powered by solar wind turbines powered by sunlight and wind to
continuously receive any kind of warnings and messages.

2). Immediate checking of injuries and casualties

Sustainable balls consist of sensors and checking capabilities to give

immediate care and first-aid to injured victims. The project will also help damage
households to make sure that their injured body will immediately implement first aid
as the ball consists of first-aid materials. In case of bleeding, bone fractures, or severe
injuries that tend to greatly affect the body and condition of the patient. It will send an
alert and immediate response to take care of the patients simultaneously.

3) Collaborations in PAGASA and municipalities

The collaborations in PAGASA and municipalities will help receive the data
to be more accurate. Since the lives of people and situations will depend on this
invention. The clear progression of data and communications needs to be clearer. The
consistent data will also help the progress and actions of rescuers to do an immediate
response to the area. Also, the controlled satellites by Philippine Atmospheric
Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) continuously
provides reliable, relevant-weather related information and accurate services to
developing communities resilient to typhoons, and flood, and to reduce the magnifying
effect of super typhoons like typhoon Yolanda November 3, 2013-November 11, 2013
as one of the most powerful tropical cyclones to be ever recorded (ilo.org.com 2023).

4). Delivery of stable signals and accurate locations

The improvisation of satellites powered by solar wind turbines will help the
facility to work 24/7. As it receives signals, providing more accurate signals and
locations that will help to identify the places of the affected area that will be provided
by satellites connected to the sustainable balls. And the existing typhoons will be
determined by Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (PAGASA) to give signals if it is okay to move and the limitations to the
movement of rescuers.

METHOD/DETAILS OF THE PROPOSED SOLUTION INCLUDING COST ANALYSIS

AS APPLICABLE:

The methods and details of the proposed solution consist of 3 processes that
will surely help every individual. As this invention tends to ensure the delivery of
critical supplies, the establishment of an immediate emergency communication line,
particularly in rural areas, and to ensure the provision of supplies of electricity in
equipment.

1). Construction of sustainable box and turbines:

The sustainable ball will be prone to floods, damage to houses, etc. The
construction of the sustainable box consists of bamboo woods (Bambusa Vulgaris) that
will allow the device to float due to its physical structure and air pockets on its plant
stem (bs.dayabook.com 2023) and will be covered in silicone material for the
contamination of the first aid kits and relief goods inside. It will also require a sensor
and checking features for damaged areas and injuries. Also, the device will be
implemented for different types of first aid and injuries With the audio port, the
scanner can scan the injuries and explain the needed procedure. It also consists of a
charger port, solar panels, and a signal transmitter.

2). Calculating the average area of barangays:

Calculating the average area of the satellites will be decided how many
quantities of sustainable balls will be provided to every household. The invention will
be issued by municipalities to ensure safety and to implement the guidelines on the
said invention. How to use, and every function and feature of the sustainable balls.

3). The function of sustainable balls:

As the sustainable balls are distributed, they will place outside their house
in the meantime to recharge and receive a solar light that will be converted to energy
so that in case of crisis, the device will still work. However, during the crisis, the device
will also float if it’s carried away by floods. Also, the invention can activate if a person
pushes the existing button that will immediately scan the person and will deliver a
signal that connects to the facilities that will be received by satellites in the existing
area that is being powered by solar wind turbines that will maximize the energy
production using both wind and sun (solarimpulse.com 2023). It can also be
recharged by kinetic energy by the conversion of the ball's movement transmitting into
the embedded rotors in each interior.

COST ANALYSIS:

The estimated price is 15,000 we have 5 sustainable spheres in each barangay

with a basic essential first aid kit and relief goods. Bamboo price is 75PHP per piece
with 18inch long (Shoppe), and ‘X-traseal’ silicone is 364PHP (Shoppe), the push
button is 64PHP (Lazada), the smart sensor is 1,402PHP (Lazada), the essential first
aid kit is 500PHP (Medicalshop. ph,2021), essential relief goods are 500PHP also (relief
