IV. PROCEDURES

Preliminary Activities A. Greetings

Good morning, ma’am!

Good morning, everyone.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, andtheHoly Spirit. O God, who by the light of theHoly Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant us in the

same Spirit to be truly wise and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
- B. Prayer

Present, Ma’am.

C. Checking of attendance

Say present when I call your name

Before we proceed to our discussion and other activities, let’s have an activity called Let’s OrgaNICE! For the directions, I will show you different things

and I want you to fix it properly.

Are you ready?

Yes, Ma’am.
 2, 6, 4, 8, 14, 10, 12

 A, B, C, E, D, F

  2,4,6,8,10,12,14
Red, Orange, Green, Yellow, Blue, Indigo, Violet

  A,B,C,D,E,F
Pre-school, Elementary, College, Junior High, Senior High
 Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet

What have you observed in our activity?  Pre-School, Elementary, Junior High, Senior High, College

Yes, that’s right! Class, you see, not only those things need to be fixed; there are also information which are necessary to be organized in order for us to

understand it better. And that’s what we will do today. Ma’am, I think it’s about organizing or sequencing things.

Now, we will have another activity and this is called Hamburger Stop! I prepared a hamburger with a bun, however, it has no content at all. What you are

going to do is to read a paragraph of text. Then, identify which among the parts show Introduction, Body, and Conclusion and make an outline out of it.

Put your outline on the parts of the hamburger respectively.

Global warming is one of the major environmental issues facing the world today. It refers to

the dramatic increase in the annual average global surface temperature of the earth. Many
Activity
scientists predict that this rapid change in temperature will most likely bring changes to our

climate. The rainfall distribution will change and the frequency of severe weather events like

typhoons will increase. Our weather patterns will undergo a profound change. It will also

cause sea levels to rise and low-lying coastal areas to experience heavy floods. It is also

predicted to affect the crops we grow and may even lead to decrease in crop production.

For our next activity, let’s have this, “THE FLOW”.

Directions: Try to find the meta strips under your chairs. Paste immediately the meta strips you found on the board.

Let us read these words.

 Healthy Living

B. Analysis  Healthy Eating

 Fruits

 Healthy Habits

 Plenty of Rest

 Biking

 Vegetables

 Proteins

 Healthy Activity
 No Smoking Yes, Ma’am!

 Drink Plenty of Water

 Swimming

 Running (Students raise their hands)

(Students started to volunteer and answer)

Do you understand these words and phrases?

Very good. Now, let’s put each of them on its proper places. Any volunteer?

Yes? Pick one word or phrase and let’s see if you can organize it correctly.

Great! All of your answers are correct. From that activity, you were organizing in sequence the related information and ideas using a graphic organizer

which is the “flow chart”.

Now, let’s proceed to our main topic.

The structure of academic writing is similar to that of a simple paragraph, with an introduction, body, and conclusion. These three parts will be used in

writing a short paragraph, an essay, or a full-length report or research paper.

C. Abstraction
The hamburger that we did earlier is an example of a graphic organizer in writing a

paragraph or an essay. It allows you to see facts, concepts, or ideas in a visual format.

Like an essay, it has several layers – the top bun, the filling, and the bottom bun.

What other graphic organizers can you use in organizing your ideas?
Correct! Those examples of graphic organizer that you have mentioned would greatly help all of you or us on making an essay or on proving a point.

Another way for us to simplify or in order to fully grasp a concept is through outlining.

Are you familiar with outlining?

Very good! What do we do when we are outlining?

When there are so many ideas about a topic for a report that you do not know where to begin, the best thing to do is to organize your ideas through an

outline. It is also a graphic organizer which helps you to identify the main ideas and highlight the important facts. Ma’am, Venn diagram, T-chart, concept map, sequence Chart, and main idea web.

When you make an outline, you can use the following format:

Yes, Ma’am. We usually do it when we are writing our notes especially if we are in the middle of a discussion.

We will just get the main idea or the key words to simplify the concept and for us to understand it very well.

D. Application Now, it's time to apply what you have learned in our discussion. In this assessment, the students will transcode the information from linear text to a non-

linear text through outlining and a graphic organizer on their own choice.
Transcode information from linear to non-linear texts and

vice-versa. (EN8RC-IIe-11)

Informative essay on causes and effects of energy crisis

What are the causes and effects of the energy crisis? Some of the causes are increased use of energy, waste of energy, growing population, and the

shortage of the common fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. There is an increased use of energy because of more electrical appliances used in homes.

The need for more appliances also creates a need for more electrical energy to make these appliances. Another reason for the increased use of energy is

the need for more transportation. There is a waste of energy because people are careless and leave their lights and appliances on. There are, today, also

more instanton appliances for the convenience of users. The growing population creates a demand for more energy as more people use lights and other

things that require fuel. The most common fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas are used up rapidly and cannot be replaced immediately for it takes time to

build these fuels. As a result of the energy crisis, there are power shortages and increase of prices

(The students will first make an outline and then present their outlines through a graphic organizer of their own choice.)

III. EVALUATION Assessment:
