Tutorial Letter in preparation for:

Entrepreneurship (ENT/ENT001)

Examinations 2013

Dear student

As from 2013, the structure of the final examination format has been revised and will be as
follows:

Total marks: 100

Time: 3 hours

This is a closed book examination. The paper consists of three sections:

 Section A is compulsory and consists of 20 multiple-choice questions.
 Section B is compulsory.
 Section C gives you the option to choose to answer two (2) of the possible three (3)
questions OR one (1) of the possible two (2) questions, depending on the format of the
specific examination paper.

SECTION A: [20 marks] – Compulsory

This section aims to assess detailed knowledge relating to all learning outcomes presented in the
learner guide and the prescribed textbook. This section consists of 20 multiple-choice questions
= 1 mark for each question.

SECTION B: [40 marks] – Compulsory

These questions aim to assess various chapters, themes and learning outcomes as indicated in
the learner guide and discussed in your prescribed textbook. This section consists of discussion
questions requiring theoretical knowledge and application. Tools such as scenarios and case
studies are used. This section can consist of one to multiple discussion questions.

Please note that when a scenario or case study is provided, you are required to apply the case or
scenario when answering the questions. Merely mentioning the name of the organisation or
business is not seen as adequate application. If the information in the case study or scenario is
limited, for example, the names of the owners/entrepreneurs are not given OR the market they
are targeting is not specified in detail, you are allowed to make limited assumptions on factors not
presented in the case study/scenario in order to enhance your application of the case in relation
to the theory. These assumptions should not be conflicting in terms of the facts given.

 Three questions and you are required to choose and answer any two of the possible three
questions.
OR
 Two questions and you are required to choose and answer one of the possible two
questions.

Topics that are covered in this section are based on the learning themes and outcomes as stated
in your learner guide. This section consists of discussion questions requiring theoretical
knowledge as well as practical application.

As indicated for Section B – the same assessment guidelines in terms of scenarios and case
studies are applicable.

Good luck with your exam preparation!
