Statement of purpose

I have been keenly Studying and working on my own major are big achievements in my life. Since I
was a child, I've been keenly interested in Computer Sciences and Data Analysis. This curiosity has
motivated me to pursue these subjects diligently. I find joy in unraveling data mysteries and
exploring technology's potential. My dedication to studying and working in these fields marks
significant achievements in my life.

I was accepted as a bachelor student at the department of Economics in Suleyman Demirel

University located in Almaty city in 2016 and got the diploma in 2020. During my final year
studying Economics, I took a course in data analysis for business. This class sparked a strong interest
in data science for me and got me thinking about pursuing a master’s degree in computer science.
I want to give special thanks to Professor Taskyn. He was my professor during the data analysis
course, and his teaching style was tough but motivating. His encouragement played a big part in
inspiring me to pursue my master’s degree. I'm grateful for professors like him who push their
students to reach their full potential.
Afterwards, I decided to continue my education in the same University by applying to the department
of Computer Science and graduated with a master’s degree in 2023. My thesis research was related to
the development of an image-based people counting system for high-density crowds, showcasing
expertise in computer vision and crowd analysis. During my master's program, under the guidance of
Professor Cemil Turan, who served as my supervisor and mentor, we delved into various Data
Science projects. Professor Turan's expertise in the field and his commitment to fostering practical
skills allowed us to explore the depths of Data Science. Together, we engaged in hands-on projects,
applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. These projects not only enhanced my
understanding of Data Science principles but also equipped me with invaluable practical experience.
One notable project involved the application of deep learning techniques to analyze crowd behavior,
which culminated in the publication of our conference paper titled "Deep Learning in Crowd
Analysis: A Survey of Current Research Trends" at the 17th International Conference on Electronics
Computer and Computation (ICECCO 2023). Throughout these endeavors, Professor Turan's
mentorship was invaluable. His guidance, support, and expertise empowered me to tackle complex
challenges and develop innovative solutions in the realm of Data Science. I am deeply grateful to
Professor Turan for his dedication to my academic and professional development, and for the
enriching experience of working together on Data Science projects.
During my academic years at Suleyman Demirel University, I worked as a Data Analyst and Data
Scientist. The focus of the work covers the development and implementation of databases and data
collection systems, this included working on the portal system called SDU portal system, which
served professors, students, and other departments. Our task was to overhaul the design and content
of SDU portal to improve its usability and functionality. After significant effort, we successfully
implemented the updates, and the university continued to use our enhanced system. Within the data
analysis department, my responsibilities centered on analyzing various datasets to extract insights
and support decision-making processes. Furthermore, I was promoted to the level of lecturer at
Suleyman Demirel University, where the statistical analyses were conducted using various tools such
as SAS, Stata, and Matlab in the field of my research work. Another duty of my job was to review
the research literature and assist in manuscript preparation, participate in fieldwork and data analysis
for government programs. From my previous skills and education, I obtained the proficiency in
various programming languages including Python, MATLAB, and SQL, experienced in data science
techniques such as data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization and specialized knowledge
in areas like GIS, remote sensing, machine learning, NLP, and deep learning/neural networks.
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to attend the open days at
Nazarbayev University, which played a pivotal role in confirming my decision to pursue doctoral
studies at your esteemed institution. The engaging interactions I had with distinguished professors,
such as Professor Michael Lewis and Professor Michele Folgheraiter, provided invaluable insights
into the vibrant academic community and research prospects available at Nazarbayev University.
During these interactions, I was particularly drawn to the research expertise of Professor Amin
Zhollari in machine learning, which closely aligns with my own research interests. The possibility of
collaborating with Professor Zhollari fills me with excitement, as I believe his guidance and
mentorship will greatly enhance my growth as a researcher in the field of data science and machine
learning. Additionally, I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to explore potential
collaborations with Professor Pavel Braslavskii. His insights and encouragement have not only
inspired me but also reinforced my commitment to academic excellence. I am eager to contribute to
the academic community at Nazarbayev University under his mentorship. Moreover, I had the
privilege of being invited to Professor Michele Folgheraiter's lab, where I had a rewarding experience
exploring various projects. This encounter further solidified my conviction that Nazarbayev
University is the ideal environment for me to pursue my academic aspirations in data science and
make meaningful contributions to the development of Kazakhstan. With a strong academic
background from both my bachelor's and master's studies, coupled with my professional skills,
perseverance, and dedication to excellence, I am confident in my ability to successfully undertake a
challenging endeavor such as a Ph.D. I am eager to immerse myself in the academic experience at
Nazarbayev University and am committed to making significant strides in my research journey.
