Statement of Purpose

The introduction of new technology has declined over the year in my country.
Talented youngsters with natural abilities to devise new solutions, and build
complicated systems that solve real problems have received little to no support.

Statistics show that 90% of children in high school will not be able to compete
with their counterparts at a global standard due to the low level of the use of new
technology in learning.

I understand that this will impact the development of the future workforce,
resulting in a significant economic burden if it goes unchecked. Therefore, I aim to
contribute considerably to STEM's prevalent childhood technological innovation
via high-quality research, teaching, and outreach. To advance this goal and further
my professional training, I am applying for a master's program in the department of
computer science at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Pursuing my purpose, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Electronic and Computer

Engineering at Lagos State University. During this time, I enrolled and excel in
several courses, including, Introduction to programming and computation,
Algorithms and Data Structure, Computer Architecture in Engineering,
Microprocessor Fundamental and Application, Operating System, Microprocessor
Software Development, Software Engineering I, and Software Engineering II.
These are needed prerequisites for my Master's program.

I have developed significant research expertise in Software Development life

cycle, data collection, and analysis. It is evident in my undergraduate research,
where I led the development of a full-stack web base application called Hostel
Management system. This application help in the elimination of manual way of
handling data, hard copy documentation of biodata, and physical allocation of the
hostel to students. As a result, students pay for their hostel online, document their
data online, and also hostel allocation.

In addition to my research training, I have quality instruction experience, as

reflected during my compulsory one-year National Youth Service, where I served
as the Mathematics and Physics instructor for about 150 high school students.
During this time, I took pleasure in teaching, grading, and mentoring student as
they prepared for their final high school exam.
I will relish involving in undergraduate teaching and research mentoring during
my Master's at your University. Thus, I can work in a collaborative environment,
as portrayed in my workplace as a Software Engineer, where I play a key
supportive role in the team during project execution.

I have significant writing and presentation experience, which I exercised during

my final year research defense, where all department HOD were present to grade
me based on the quality of my research paper, presentation, and communication.
Therefore, I am particularly excited about potential public speaking opportunities
available during my Master's Program.

I have some leadership experience as the Chairman of the Association of

Electronic and Computer Engineering Students(AECES) Electoral Committee
during my undergraduate study. I also served as the General Secretary of the
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers(IEEE) LASU Chapter. This
experience will be invaluable as I look forward to learning and contributing to your
University's Graduate Students Computer Science department.

To achieve my goals, I know the need to be trained in an academic setting that

fosters experiential learning. Indeed, MUM is a multicultural and regional
educational hub that provides an active learning environment with top-class
laboratory facilities.

During my review of the SDLC, Complexity Theory and Data Analysis, I read
several papers by Dr. Noah Fleming 2018, including Dr kolokoloval 2015, and Dr
joisine 2012. I recently had a zoom with him and his current trainees to discuss the
possibility of joining his lab for my Master's training. Fortunately, he was open to
that possibility and encouraged me to apply.

I am particularly excited at the prospect of joining him at the mechatronic

laboratory. Here, I hope to get trained on the unique complex Theory that will
improve our knowledge of the mechanistic link between cutting and stabbing
planes with the hope of developing an exceptional intervention. Importantly, I look
forward to learning from the diverse array of students and top-rated professors
within and outside the computer science department.

The inadequate and deficient introduction and exposure of new technology to the
student at an early stage are of greater challenge that requires expert intervention
and contribution so that students at every level of education can be competitive
with their peers on a global standard.
If this is not achieved, the student will be some decade behind their peers which
inadvertently will add great impact to the economy and industrial settings of the
nation, as the saying goes, Youth is the leader of tomorrow, and the leaders of
tomorrow need to be well equipped with the latest technology to excel at every
level.

It will be a great opportunity for me to be trained and nurtured in a reputable

research environment at the UNBC computer science laboratory to acquire the top-
notch in-demand skill to fight against this deficiency.

I am confident that, the variety of experiences that I had acquired has prepared me
for the next level of my academic career and this experience will also be of greater
advantage to the school at both graduate and undergraduate levels while also
learning from the system. I look forward to a positive outcome of my application.
Thank you.
