❖ Group Formation Team for the Micro-Project was formed and the
topic for the Micro-Project was Selected. The Group Leader is Sujal
Jadhav.
❖ Finalization of Micro-Project:-After finalizing the project we
decided to allot work for each member respectively.
❖ Planning decided to gather information for the topic. We confirmed
the submission date and got to work
❖ Module Distribution& Analysis Part:-We completed analysing the
design of the project and distributed work to each member. Sujal has
decided to Type the project Umesh, and Harshvardhan decided to
provide information with good pictures & Santoshi decided to provide
extra pictures.
❖ Presentation presented all the detailed information on the topic. All
the resources were put to the best use. The application of pictures
were used in a particular field. The use of software was well done.
❖ Submission:-After presenting and finalizing the project we
successfully submitted our complete project.

Brief Description:-
➢ The importance of a micro project is that it helped me gather information
which increased my knowledge regarding the topic.
➢ The micro-project was beneficial in improving my skills in self-healing
concrete
➢ I got new experience and made me feel more confident in this field.
➢ Thus it was beneficial to learn new stuff.
This research work has a wider perspective or goal to study the self-
healing properties of plastics, polymers, composites, asphalt, and
metals as well as concrete.
• Even a small crack on the concrete surface makes the whole structure
Susceptible to deterioration because water seeps in to degrade the
concrete and corrode the steel reinforcement, greatly reducing the
lifespan of a structure.
Only some selected types of bacteria can produce healing limestone like
the genus Bacillus, along with a calcium-based nutrient known as calcium
lactate, and nitrogen and phosphorus, which are mixed with concrete
ingredients while making concrete.
These select types of bacteria can be alive in concrete for more than 200
years.
While making self-healing concrete two bacterial agents are fed named
the bacterial spores and the calcium lactate-based nutrients are
introduced to the concrete as separate clay pallets.
These clay pallets ensure that the bacterial agent will not get active
before cracking concrete.
This gets activated only when the concrete gets cracked and opens up the
pellets and incoming water brings the calcium lactate into contact with
the bacteria to become activated.
Bacterial agent converts the nutrients into limestone within seven days in
the laboratory. But in the outside condition, it may take several weeks.
For making self-healing concrete finding the right bacteria that are
capable of surviving in an extremely alkaline environment is an essential
requirement.
As we know, when water and cement are mixed and have a pH value of
up to 13, it is usually a hostile environment for life.
