4.0 STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

4.1 Modelling

ESR walls, base slab & roof slabs are modelled as Plate Element in STAAD PRO with staging. Bottom of columns
are considered fixed at foundation level. Foundations are modelled and designed separately using nodal loads and
moments obtained from STAAD model at bottom of columns. Staging is modelled with beam element. Stiffness

of the staging for seismic base shear calculation is obtained through a separate model consisting of
staging alone.

4.2 Method of Analysis

The structure is analysis using STAAD-PRO. Walls, cover slab, Base slab and foundation are designed using in-house
developed spread sheets. All RCC memebers like walls, Roof slabs& beams, Base slabs & beams, submerged columns,
ring beams etc. of the container are designed as un- crackd sections as per IS: 3370 (part-2). However, staging columns
are designed by limit state method, tie beams, plinth beams and foundation is designed as per IS:456-2000.

4.3 Basic Loads

The ESR is analyzed for following loads

a) Dead load
Self weight of slab
Roof Finish/ Water treatment = 1.50 kN/m2

b) Live load
On cover slab and Gallary = 2.00 kN/m2
On staircase = 3.00 kN/m2

c) Wind load
Various parameters for calculation of wind loads on structures are determined on basis of IS: 875- 2016 (part-III),

5.0 STRUCTURAL DESIGN

5.1 Reinforced concrete structure

Design is based on the worst possible combination of various loads, moments, and shear resultant stresses in the tank
in following cases.

Tank Full
Tank Empty
Uplift pressure if any
Peripheral wall is designed for the following loads
Hydrostatic test condition - Water depth up to full height of the wall (including free board)

5.2 Foundation

Foundation for the structures is decided based on loading arrangement, load intensity and soil strata. Design of
foundation dependent upon the safe bearing capacity at that level and on the basis of recommendation furnished in
the Geotechnical Investigation report.

Design forces and moments are obtained from STAAD-Pro analysis and checked for bearing capacity, overturning
and sliding. Bearing Capacity is increased by 25% for the all load combinatin with wind/seismic. The foundations
are designed as per limit state method as per IS: 456 -2000.
