BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author, Elor Dick R. Fontillas , was born on August 23, 1988 at Mapurao Allacapan,

Cagayan. He is the eldest son among the four children of Mr. Dick F. Fontillas (deceased) and

Mrs. Josephine R. Fontillas.

In 2002, he finished her primary education at Mapurao Elementary School where he was a

member of the Drum and Lyre Corps wherein he played lyre, drum, and a escort during this time

and joined many competition, liked folk dance, badminton and running long jump. He also

graduated in elementary as Class Salutatorian.

He took his secondary education in different schools due to some reasons to su[pport his

study, because he just want to finished his studies he used to be a working student in at very

young age. He took his first year in Alig Valley High School at Kapannikian Sur, Allacapan,

Cagayan, because he was a working student and used to stay in the house of a school principal

who finances his studies. After a year he continuous her studies at Cagayan Valley Institure at

Aparri Cagayan for the Second year and Third year level in high school. After two years studies

in this school he decided to went back to his hometown Allacapan and he entered his Fourth

Year at Allacapan Institute, a private school in Allacapan which he became a scholar and

graduated as First Honorable Mention.

After his high school, he decided to apply and luckylly work as a casual government

employee in the Local Government Unit of Allacapan, he work for 2 years as administrative aide

I, after that he decided to pursue his studies in college at Cagayan State University, Andrews

campus formerly Caritan Campus taking up Business Administration course under the College of

Business Entrepreneurship and Accountancy. Suddenly he didn’t finished the course, he decided

to work in Manila as a Call center agent in Bonifacio Global City, while working as call center
agent he decided to apply abroad, while taking up some trainings in Paramedics, after few month

he got his working visa going to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and work as staff nurse in Prince

Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Hospital, a government hospital located in exit 14, Riyadh, Kingdom

of Saudi Arabia.

After his contract in KSA he went back to Philippines for two months and went back

abroad to work, he went to Taiwan to work as machine operator, after which he finished the first

job in Taiwan he went back but into a another company as a machine operator he woprk in a

solar manufacturing company in Hsinchu City Taiwan ROC, after which he decided to take

vacation and suddenly a world wide pandemic affected all and including the travel ban going

outside the country, he decided to go back to school to take another course, and finally he was

accepted in the college of agriculture as a scholar student under the UAQTEA program of

TESDA.

He currently at Cagayan State University Lal-lo Campus for her tertiary education and took

up Diploma in Agricultural Technology (DAT). He served as Class Mayor for three years, doing

some accomplishment for the class and an officer/member of FALP (Future Agriculturist

Leadership of the Philippines) club.

He believed in the quote “Some learning’s come late in life, but they do come for sure”.

ELOR DICK R. FONTILLAS


BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author was born on March 6, 1999 at Tamban, Alcala, Cagayan. She is the fourth child
among the seven siblings of Mr. Mariano N. Natividad and Mrs. Lourdes M. Guimmayen. She
finished her elementary education at Tamban Elementary School in 2012 at Tamban, Alcala,
Cagayan and her secondary education at Saint Philomene of Alcala, in year 2018 at Centro Sur,
Alcala, Cagayan.
During her high school days, she was the SSG Vice-president during her junior high school
and a dependable President of the class from Grade 7 to Grade 12. Because of her admiration to
be more effective leader, she attended different leadership trainings like District Leadership at
Camalaniugan, Cagayan in 2015 and National Leadership Congress at Teachers Camp Baguio
City in 2017.
The author is also a cheer dancer, folk dancer and a choir member. She always joined
every school’s foundation and loyalty week celebration in their school, and have won in several
activities.
Aside from being a student leader, she was also a consistent academic achiever. Financial
problem was encountered by the author during her senior high school years but because of her
determination to finish her secondary education, she applied a scholarship from a Filipino-
Japanese Teacher in Japan and luckily she was chosen as a scholar and was able to graduate.
She enrolled at Cagayan State University at Lal-lo Campus for her tertiary education and
took up Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) Major in Crop Science. She was still a
consistent student leader in her college. She became a board member then a governor of the
College of Agriculture Student Council. Her success in achieving her degree is a milestone as
she will be the first child in their family to have a college diploma.

MARICAR M. GUIMMAYEN
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author was born on August 10, 1999 at Calantac, Alcala, Cagayan. She is the

youngest daughter among the eight children of Mr. Floresto F. Pattung and Ms. Sherlida T.

Cachola.

She finished her elementary education, salutatorian, at Calantac Elementary High School at

Calantac, Alcala, Cagayan and her secondary education at Baggao National High School, in year

2018 at Centro, Baggao, Cagayan as one of the academic achiever of her batch.

During her high school days, she was an active student journalist and was an editor-in-

chief of their school publication. She is also a student athlete and team captain of their women

volleyball team. She firmly believes in the power of media and how it can change the status of

marginalized people through the lens of a camera or through the words of a journalist.

In her college years, she’s still a consistent student athlete, student journalist and a student

leader. She served as a Vice President and President of the Future Agricultural Leaders of the

Philippines organization and in her last year, a senator of Campus Student Council. She was also

a News Editor of campus publication, The Innovator.

As an agriculture student, the author dreams and hope for the better future of the

agriculture sector that being a farmer is not a low job like how the society perceives it, it is a job

that, someday it is perceives a high-paying and decent job like how other nations look up to it.

MARIA FLOR C. PATTUNG


BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author, Julie Ann D. Ramirez, was born on July 19, 1999 in Piat, Cagayan and now

currently living at Taligan, Gattaran, Cagayan, as the eldest of Orlando L. Ramirez and Merlie

Dela Cruz.

She took her primary education at Dummun Elementary School and graduated as

Salutatorian. She finished her secondary education at Don Mariano Marcos National High

School as With Honors. She was also awarded as the Best in Academic Research.

In 2018, she took her College Admission Test at Cagayan State University Lal-lo Campus

and passed. Then, she was admitted at CSU Lal-lo under the College of Agriculture, Bachelor of

Science in Agriculture major in Crop Science.

Aside from academics, she also participated in extra-curricular activities. She was a

member of the Parliamentary Group who competed in FALP Uni-wide at CSU Andrews and was

adjudged Champion. She was also appointed as Finance Secretary of the Campus Student

Council and a member of the Future Agricultural Leaders of the Philippines (FALP) Club.

The author is happily in a relationship and was blessed with a handsome two-year old boy.

She believed in her life saying that “in everything you do, always put God first”.

JULIE ANN D. RAMIREZ


BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author, Melaica M. Dimas, was born on April 05, 1997 at San Mariano, Lal-lo,

Cagayan. She is the sixth child among the eight children of Mr. Edmund C. Dimas and Mrs.

Yolanda M. Dimas. She finished her elementary education at San Mariano Elementary School in

the year 2011 at San Mariano, Lal-lo, Cagayan where she graduated with flying colors. She then,

took her secondary education at Lyceum of Abulug during her first year and transferred and

graduated at Magapit National High School with honors.

In 2015, during her tertiary education she was admitted at Lyceum of Aparri with the

course Bachelor of Science in Nursing but because of financial constraint she decided to shift

into another course at Cagayan State University, Lal-lo campus under the course Bachelor of

Science in Secondary Education Major in Social Sciences. Unfortunately. God’s perfect timing

hasn’t yet to come in her life.

She was committed in an early marriage life and was blessed with two beautiful kids. She

did stopped but she still continued to pursue her education under the course of Bachelor of

Science in Agriculture, Major in Crop Science. With all the trials and unexpected things she

went through in her journey, she remained strong and resilient. This time, she is about to finish

her course and looking forward to another journey with her diploma on hand.

MELAICA M. DIMAS
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

The author was born on December 17, 1998 at Piggatan, Alcala, Cagayan. She is the eldest

child among the three siblings of Mr. Virgilio B. Verzola and Mrs. Yolanda S. Verzola

She finished her elementary education at Angkiray Elementary School in 2012 at Centro

Sur, Alcala, Cagayan and her secondary education at Saint Philomene of Alcala. She was a

participative student, n her 3rd year level of high school, she started to join folk dance and a

consistent Grand Champion during the Founding Anniversaries of her school. She was also

consistent honor student. She awarded 12th honor in Grade 7, 10th honor in Grade 8, and 9th honor

in Grade 9 and was an officer in their class from Junior High School until Senior High School.

She took an entrance exam at CSU Andrews Campus, but unfortunately, she didn’t pass

and decided to enroll at CSU Lal-lo Campus wherein she took up Diploma in Agricultural

Technology. But she was given the opportunity to shift in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

(BSA) program which is a four- year course and got her major (Crop Science). When she was on

her 2nd year as a college student, she was given a chance to become a Dean’s Lister.

The author is an active student leader who have different positions in different

organizations. She is the elected as Mayor in her class, Auditor of Crop Science Club, and

member of the Future Agricultural Leaders of the Philippines.

Now, that she is about to finish her bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, another doors to open

as she enters another chapter of success.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Having this humble piece of work come into reality means saying a word of gratitude for

all the people who extended help, it is expected that without their presence, success is

unattainable. The authors are grateful to the following people who extend their valuable time in

sharing unselfish talents, resources, remarkable assistance and cooperation.

Foremost, to the Almighty God, the source of wisdom, the greatest provider, and the best

counselor who has worked and continues to work with them all for the years of their lives.

by Dr. Maribel L. Fernandez, Dean of the College of Agriculture, for their endless understanding

and generous pieces of advice during the conduct of the said OJT.

To the different project in-charge, Dr. Maribel L. Fernandez, Mr. Boyet C. Pattung, Mr.

Richard Lazo, and Mr. Ronel Collado, and other project staff, for their full support and

enthusiasm to contribute their skills and knowledge to the trainees.

Acknowledgement is also extended to their OJT Coordinator, Mr. Boyet C Pattung, for her

encouragements and guidance during their OJT.

Lastly, to all who have contributed a lot in the completion of the report, the authors are

beyond blessed and grateful.


INTRODUCTION

The on-the-job training is part of every programs’ curriculum in college, it is one of the requirement

of students to get their diploma. On-the-Job training is one of the ways to equip the students with skills

and first hand experiences. It is also one of the primary ways for the students to make connections that

will help them land their first job out of college.

Despite the threat of the global health crisis, the Diploma in Agricultural Technology (DAT) third-

year graduating students of Cagayan State University at Lal-lo have to undergo 240 hours of on-the-job

training in their respective assignments with the strict implementation of health protocols from Inter-

Agency Task Force. The training provides them opportunity to obtain applicable knowledge by

performing actual work settings. It helps them in the preparation of their future professions.

CSU Lal-lo provides real work environment for the trainees to develop their work habit, instill sense

of responsibility and proper instruction from peer and supervisor. The campus with its different

agricultural projects and programs become a developmental venue for the trainees to learn more about

their chosen field of study that will surely equip and enhance their practical knowledge.

The Cagayan State University - Lal-lo has established High Value Commercial Crop Projects, such

as Coffee VALENA Project that envisions the campus as Coffee Center of the North, Banana Production,

Corn Production and other High Value Commercial Crops.

The campus has also Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) programs

which provide technical skills, knowledge attitudes of the trainees on the different competencies along

agriculture sector. The Technical Vocational Education and training (TVET) office is the one who

manage the TESDA program of the campus with its competent trainers.

Through involving the trainees to these projects, it helps them to converse their ideas, enhance

technical skills, and gain new knowledge and to know how to socialize within a workplace. These
contributes to a significant, not just on their academic knowledge but also it will improve their character

as a person when they will pursue their own career path.

Hence, this narrative report presented the activities and learning experiences gained by the student

trainees in the different projects of the campus.

Objectives

Generally, the trainees aimed to acquire additional knowledge, skills, and values needed of

an agriculture student for them to be globally competitive.

Specific Objectives

The training aimed to:

1. Expose the trainees in the field practice that aims to help them to be productive and efficient

agriculturists;

2. Convey the job knowledge to the trainees in a real job setting;

3. Gain various learning from the different project;

4. Prepare the trainees in real-work-setting responsibilities;

5. Improve personality in dealing with the personnel, faculty and staff of CSU Lal-lo campus; and

6. Improve employment, working conditions and prospects of advancement in agriculture as

contribution towards remedying the lack of balance between the agriculture and other occupation.
EXPECTED OUTPUT

At the end of the training, the trainees are expected to:

1. Perform agriculture related tasks and activities.

2. Become competent in all level of competencies and technical Agriculture.

3. Build self -confidence while performing efficiently the task and activities in actual areas.

4. Prepare and adapt the trainees of the working condition in the real setting.
DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

Narrative Summary of Experiences


The three years course of Diploma in Agricultural Technology (DAT3) is deeply rooted to the

concept of agricultural science and technology. It is embedded with 12 National Certificates and

agricultural theories, concepts and principles that agriculture students learned inside the university.

However, there is no better way for the students to learn and explore these theories and concepts by

putting these into practice and experience it first-hand under a well-trained personnel’s supervisions into a

training program known as on-the-job training program, for this provides them better understanding and

appreciation of what they learned in the campus.

Understanding the importance of the training in the personal and professional development of

oneself, twenty nine (29), third years graduating students taking up Diploma in Agricultural Technology

undertook their two hundred forty hours (240) of On the Job Training at Cagayan State University Lal-lo

Campus, Sta. Maria, Lal-lo, Cagayan.

The first week of the on-the-job (OJT) training formally started on February 22, 2022, wherein

the OJT adviser, Mrs. Auggie W. Oandasan, held an orientation and briefing about the activities and

project assignments to the different groups. It was followed by campus tour, wherein the trainees were

given an opportunity to visit all the existing projects in the campus. They were also tasked to do a

Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation activity for the Vermicomposting and High Value Commercial

Crops (HVCC) projects followed by doing a Project Proposal and was presented in the class.

After one week, the trainees were assigned to their respective project assignments. Among these

projects were HVCC, Coffee VALENA Project, Vermicomposting and, an institution that provides

technical skills and knowledge, Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET). These projects are

handled by expert project leaders.


Coffee Valena Project

The group first project assignment was in Coffee Valena Project. The trainees performed nursery

operations in the Coffee Valena Project wherein they transferred the 2000 potted seedlings from the side

of CICS to the coffee nursery. The trainees also transplanted 300 coffee seedlings at the back of Crop

Processing Building and watered them after. The trainees applied organic and inorganic fertilizers to

coffee plants in the coffee production outside the campus. Moreover, the trainees also perform post-

harvest operations on coffee plantation such as they harvest coffee seeds, weighed and dried them for

storage and further processing of the coffee beans.

In between the task given, the project in-charge of the delivered simple lectures about the types of

coffee, their distinctive characteristics and how to differentiate them.

To conclude, the trainees performed the cultural management of coffee production, from seed

sowing to post-harvest operations. It was showed and taught to them the proper management of coffee

production.

Vermicomposting Project

During the stay of the trainees in the project, the trainees performed ttransferring the vermiworms

to another vermibed, after which they watered the substrates to maintain the moisture of the vermi beds.

They were also instructed to do weeding around the vermihouse for cleanliness. Then applied insecticide

for pest management and ensure its productivity. They also watered the okra vegetable garden in front of

the vermihouse and harvester matured fruits that was then sold to costumers.

Moreover, the office in charge of the project gave brief discussion about vermicomposting. The

trainees learned about the different substrates used in the vermicomposting project, how it was done, and

the economic potential of vermicomposting. They have learned the differences between vermicast and
vermicompost, what type of worms can be used in vermicomposting (African Night Crawler) and how

vermicomposting helps in promoting organic agriculture.

High Value Commercial Crops Project

During the month of March 2022, trainees were assigned to work on High Value Commercial

Crops (HVCC) project. In vegetable production, the trainees were instructed to germinate eggplant seeds

in a mixed soil media (alluvial, organic matter, and carbonized rice hull). They also transplanted two trays

of eggplants seedlings at HVCC Area. Moreover, they also harvested mungbean at Production Area and

conducted post-harvest activities such as shelling and drying. In the last week of their training, the group

was given a chance to drive a four-wheeled tractor at Cambong Production site and familiarized its outer

parts.

Technical Vocational and Education Training (TVET)

The fourth assigned project to the group was Technical Vocational and Education Training

(TVET). The trainees experienced to harvest tomatoes, sweet pepper and okra at TVET garden. The

office in charge instructed them to sort some documents in the office and helped in the preparation of

accreditation of their training programs. The trainees also sorted different tools and equipment and

cleaned the storage area of the office for care and maintenance purposes. During their on-hand training,

the trainees learned about grafting coffee seedlings and learned what its importance.

The time of stay of trainees in the TVET office give them opportunity to do some office related

work not just about the field work, this experience can be applied when the trainees will work to any of

the agricultural institutions in the future.

College Research Office


The last project, though not in the original project assignments, was on the College Research

Office. The trainees experienced data gathering in rice research such as counting and weighing rice

grains, measuring plant height and oven drying.

DESCRIPTION OF MOTHER SCHOOL


Cagayan State University, Lal-Lo Campus
The Cagayan State University Lal-lo Campus is situated in Lal-lo, Cagayan particularly in

barangay Sta. Maria, Lal-lo, Cagayan. The municipality of Lal-lo was formerly named Nueva Segovia,

one of the first four cities in the Philippines (others: Manila, 1571; Cebu, 1565; Naga, 1575). Nueva

Segovia was named by Juan Pablo Carreon in 1581, it was visited by Juan Salcedo in the 1572 and Luiz

Perez Dasmarinas in 1592. Because of its favorable location and due to its navigable river, it was chosen

as the capital of Cagayan Valley. It was also the seat of the Diocese created by Pope Clement VIII on

August 15, 1595 till the seat was transferred to Vigan, Ilocos Sur in 1977. It was the capital of Cagayan

up to 1839 when the provincial government moved to Tuguegarao.

Famous among the landmark in Lal-lo are Magapit Suspension Bridge (first in the South East

Asia) and Santo Domingo Church.

CSU Lal-lo Campus is situated 2.7 kilometers from the National Highway at Sta. Maria Junction.

It occupies 1,500 hectares from the original area 1,727 hectares (CVAC profiles 1979). The campus, the

hub of activities, occupies an area of 20 hectares. The rest are diverted for tree plantation, cattle ranch,

swine project, sheep project, corn production, vegetables production, and forest tree crops.

In 1993, CSU at Lal-lo was a beneficiary of the Philippines-Australia Agricultural Technology

Education (AGRITECH) program under the auspices of the Australia Aid on International Development

(AusAID). It resulted to the opening of laderized agriculture program, the Diploma in Agricultural

Technology- Bachelor of Agricultural Technology.


Cagayan State University Lal-lo Campus, originally Cagayan Valley National Agricultural

School, was created in 1955 by the R.A. 1038 and Presidential Proclamation 239. It provides a secondary

agricultural curriculum to both boys and girls.

It was elevated into a college, Cagayan Valley Agricultural College, under the defunct Bureau of

Vocational Education on June 16, under R.A 3474 through the sponsorship of former Congressman Tito

M. Dupaya. It offered two- year Technical Agriculture (Agriculture Technician) course, Bachelor of

Science in Agriculture (BSA), and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (BSAE). In 1967, it

sent out its first batch of graduates. On the same year, Bachelor of Science in Home Technology and

Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering were added to the list of course offerings.

In 1978, the College Department of Cagayan Valley Agricultural College was integrated in the

Cagayan State University by the virtue of Presidential Decree 1436. Its first campus administrator was

Mr. Francisco S. Zamora, who was then the Superintendent of CVAC. Through a Presidential approval on

March 17, 1985, the secondary department of CVAC, then administrated by Mr. Ernesto M. Esteban, was

integrated into the CSU system.

Since then, CSU Lal-lo had offered programs which include Bachelor of Elementary Education,

Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Diploma in Agricultural

Technology, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and College of Hospitality Management.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE

History of the College


The opening of the College of Agriculture came with the conversion of the Cagayan Valley

National Agricultural School (CVNAS) into the Cagayan Valley Agricultural College (CVAC) in 1964.

The pioneer batch of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Agronomy was enrolled in school year

1964-1965. Only nine graduated in 1966-1967.

In the school year 1976-1977, Animal Husbandry and Home Technology were offered as fields of

specialization in the BSA program. In the same year a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Engineering

was offered.
In 1993, the Educational Planning Implementation Task Force (EDPITAF) of Department of

Education, Culture and Sports included CSU Lal-lo as one of the recipients of the Philippine-Australian

Agricultural Technology Education (AFRITECH) program, a grant implementing Australia Aid on

International Development (AusAID). As a recipient, the school facilities were upgraded and improved;

faculty members were retained; instruction and methodology revised; and instructional materials prepared

and provided.

The AGRITECH program redesigned the agricultural technology program through the Diploma

of Agricultural Technology-Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (DAT-BAT), a ladderized curriculum.

The course was offered in school year 1995-1996 with 163 initial students with 153 graduates in 1997,

and 146 graduated in BAT curriculum in 1999.

In 1997-1998, Master of Arts in Agriculture major in Crop Science was offered. The college sent

off its graduates in 2000.

Among the prominent alumni of the College includes Mr. Jessie Garana, former World Bank

Advisor to the Minister of Livelihood and Community Development in Kabul, Afghanistan; Mr.

Venancio Acebedo, Silvino Tejada, Director of Bureau of Soils and Water Management in the

Department of Agriculture; Mr. Rogelio Follante, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of

Agrarian Reform Regional Office II; and Lucrecio R. Alviar Jr. CESO III , former Regional Director of

the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office II.

productivity, natural resources, conservation and social transformation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECTS

HIGH VALUE COMMERCIAL CROPS PROJECT


In 1995, Republic Act 7900 known as the high value crops development act was created. It is an

act to promote the production, processing, marketing and distribution of high value crops. Previously, the

program was called as high value commercial crops programs and since it was aligned with the RA 7900,

the program is now known as High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP). High value

commercial crops development program is one of the banner programs of the Department of Agriculture

mandated to contribute for attainment of the food self-sufficiency, economic growth and enhancement of

consumer’s health and welfare. It also promotes the production, processing, marketing and distribution of

high value crops. The High Value Commercial Crops (HVCC) at Cagayan State University Lal-lo campus

is funded under the Republic Act 11494 or the “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” (The “Bayanihan II

Act”).
COFFEE VALENA PROJECT

Just like its flavor, Philippine coffee has a rich history, the first coffee tree was introduced in Lipa

Batangas in 1740 by a Spanish Franciscan monk. From there, coffee growing spreads to other parts of

Batangas allowing the province to grow in wealth.

Here in the Philippines, there are four types of coffee named Excelsa, Robusta, Arabica and

Liberica. Here in CSU Lal-lo there are three (3) types that mostly grown named Excelsa, Robusta and

Liberica. It was reported that the Coffee Valena Plantation have thousands of six decade-old coffee trees,

lurking also in the plantation and in the campus forest reserve are structure ruins and nature wonders to

include swamps, cave systems and rock formations which may be turned into tourism attractions in the

campus.

With the unceasing pursuit of the campus to hone its potential as the Coffee Center of the North,

the Café Valena (Coffee-based and Agri-forestry Endeavors: Value Adding for Livelihood and
Employment and Nutrition for All) has and is still developing to be the niche product of the campus that

flaunts the production capabilities of the almost six-decade-old coffee-bearing plantation in the Valena

Site.

TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM

Technical Vocational Education and Training Program (TVET) provides knowledge and skills for

employment. It is an education training process where it involves in addition to general education, the

study of technologies and related sciences and acquisitions of practical skills relating to occupation in

various sectors of economic life and social life, comprises formal (organized programs as part of the

school system) and non-formal (organized classes outside the school system) approaches.

Cagayan State University is an institution accredited by TESDA that offers Technical and

Vocational Education and Training Programs (TVET) under the Technical Education and Skills

Development Authority (TESDA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Under CSU-Lal-
lo, TVET offers training and assessment in Agricultural Crops Production NC II and NC III, Animal

Production (Poultry-chicken) NC II, and Coffee Production level II. Trainees or students wishing to enroll

on theses trainings should possess the following requirements: able to read and write, with good moral

character, able to communicate, both orally and in writing, and physically and mentally fit.

VERMICOMPOST PROJECT

The Philippines started taking steady pace towards promotion of organic agriculture. As defined

in Republic Act No. 100681 also known as Organic Agriculture Act of 2010, organic agriculture includes

all agricultural systems that promote the ecologically sound, socially sound acceptable, economically

viable and technically feasible production of food and fibers.

Thus, this development, vermiculture and vermicomposting are example of organic agriculture

practices. Vermiculture is environment friendly, since earth worm feeds on anything that is

biodegradable; this vermicomposting then partially aids in the garbage disposal problems. No imported

inputs required, worms are now locally available and the materials for feeding are abundant in the locality
as market wastes, grasses, used papers and farm wastes. It is also highly profitable, both the worm and

castings are marketable Vermicompost does not give any adverse effect on soil, plant and environment. It

improves water retention capacity of soil, because of its high organic matter content. It also promotes

better root growth and nutrient absorption and improves nutrient status of soil, both macro- nutrients and

micro- nutrients (PSCST, 2010)

7. Fertilizer Application – the supplemental application of plant nutrients to crop plant to

augment the supply from natural sources

RECOMMENDATIONS
The group recommend that CSU at Lal-lo is a good site for the next On-The-Job Training venue

for incoming forth year students for them to lessen their expenses. The group also recommended to have

extension activities to enhance their social skills that the trainees can apply when they will have their own

job, since the campus have different existing extension projects. Besides, the project instructors are

patient, dedicated and will surely boost the student’s energy to perform tasks.
