Authority is the formal right to do work.

It gives the management the power to enforce


obedience.It is the power to give orders and make sure that these orders are obeyed.

Another , if we will say principle it talks about the the rule and guidelines or law that
regulates things at the root of an organization.

In management , authority is summarized as a right to guide and direct the activities of


others.Furthermore , to secure them from their responses thatare also in tandem with
the organizational goals.Thus , it is a right to utilize the resources of the organization in
order to make decisions.

POWER is the ability to influence others , it refers to the capacity to affect the behavior
of the subordinate with control of resources.By using a variety of tactics to push or
promt action.

 = it is the ability to get things done.People with power are able to influence others
behavior to achieve a goal or objectives.
 Real power is what happens when people connect what they do to who they are.
Once anyone in a group chooses to become more powerful, everyone around that
person becomes more powerful.

He ruled his kingdom with an iron fist and had no problems going to war to
defend it or to help it grow. His management was by power only, and if you
argued with his perspective, you were not going to be around for very long.

JOHN KENNEDY

President Kennedy challenged NASA to put a man on the moon and through
leadership, convinced and motivated his team to make that happen. His
accomplishments did not come by using power, but by using leadership and
painting a vision for others to follow.
COMPARISON

Authority is control entrusted while POWER is a control that allows influence to others.

Technical often used to refer the level of depth or expertise a person has on a subject.

Static is stationary and fixed while when we say POWER is flexible then it refers to a
person that is ready and able to change so as to adapt to different of circumstances.
(adaptable).and when we say dynamic it is a kind of a person that is positive in attitude
and full of energy and new ideas.

 When we say positional Authority means a special permission which is obtained


by a person from his higher officer and on the basis of that a person gets the
rights to do the work in the organisation. It is positional and comes with the
territory. It is key to managerial functions. No any person can perform his duties
with full responsibility, without authority.

 When we say diffuse of power to diffuse is defined as to soften or to spread out


over a larger area or among many people. When you have multiple people in
charge of planning an event, this is an example of a situation where you diffuse
power. To make known to or cause to be used by large numbers of people;
disseminate. Diffuses ideas over the Internet.(extended/scatter).
