METHOD STATEMENT CMS NO : FB05 Issue No: 02

FitBond EA
Epoxy Bonding Agent for Old to New Concrete

EQUIPMENTS & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

The following equipment shall be used: FOR MIXING
 Low speed hand drill 400-600 rpm.
 Mixing paddle
 Mixing bucket to hold 1 set of FitBond EA
 Masking Tape, wire brushes, Paint Brush, Spray Equipment
 Safety equipments – Gloves, goggles, water protective clothing
 Cleaning Solvent – Conmix Cleaner
 Grinding machine, Chisel, grit blasting equipment- for surface preparation

SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces to receive application must be clean and free of debris, dirt, dust, efflorescence,
grease, oils, curing agents, and cleaning solutions. Ensure that all surfaces are smooth and
free of any irregularities. Repair all cracks with the appropriate patching material for the
existing substrate. Painted or glossy surfaces must be roughened to ensure a proper bond.

Mixing and Application – FitBond EA

 FitBond EA is supplied in pre-measured packs (Base and Hardener)
 Components should be mixed separately before combining.
 After mixing individually, the hardener component should be poured into the base and
mixed with a drill and paddle mixer for two minutes to get uniform colour. Scrap the
edges & at the bottom using spatula, & re-mix for 2 minutes.
 APPLICATION :
 Epoxy adhesives for bonding new concrete to existing surfaces may be applied and
distributed by broom, brush, roller, notched trowel, squeegee or spray gun depending
upon the nature of the surface, the size of the area, and the scheduling of the concrete
placement.

 Patches and Vertical Joints

Medium stiff nylon bristle paint brushes.

 Overlays on Rough Surfaces

Spread with rubber, PVC or polyethylene squeegee or 1/16" notched trowels. Work into
surface with stiff bristle street brooms.

 Overlays on Flat Smooth Areas

Short nap paint roller fitted with long handle or squeegee.

Large Concrete Areas

It should be brush or spray-applied to the prepared surfaces, being sure to achieve an
unbroken coating across the entire substrate.

PLACEMENT OF CONCRETE
The coated substrate should be left for a minimum of one hour before the new concrete,
screed or mortar is placed. The maximum overlay times (see Properties) should also be
carefully observed. Failure to apply the new concrete, screed or mortar within the maximum
overlay time will result in FitBond EA becoming hard., thus creating a slip plane rather
than a bonding action. If the maximum overlay time is missed, then the FitBond EA must be
mechanically removed and a fresh application made. The concrete, screed or mortar should
then be applied in accordance with the maximum overlay time mentioned in the TDS.

CURING
No special curing techniques are needed for FitBond EA. The material should be left to cure
for 7 days after completion.

CLEANING
All tools must be cleaned with solvent or Conmix cleaner immediately after application. If the
material sets on the tools, mechanical cleaning will be required

STORAGE
FitBond EA should be stored in a dry place, protect from direct Sunlight
 Keep away from sparks and frames.
Where high temperature and humidity prevails, the shelf life of the material gets reduced

SAFETY EQUIPMENT
 Gloves, Mask, Eye Protection, Helmets, Protective Boots.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Wear face masks, water protective clothing, goggles and gloves. In case of contact with
resin, wash with plenty of water. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water immediately
and consult a physician.
 Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid inhalation of vapors.
If swallowed DO NOT induce vomiting give a glass of water. If in eyes, hold eyes open and
flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor. If skin contact, remove
contaminated clothing and washes skin thoroughly.

CONMIX CONSTRUCTION CHEMICALS

METHOD STATEMENT CMS NO : NG09 Issue No: 02

NanoGrout MG
Cementitious, Non-Shrink Precision Grout for Mass Grout
Applications

EQUIPMENTS & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

The following equipment shall be used: FOR MIXING

 Low speed hand drill 400-600 rpm mixer with paddle

 Grout mixer mechanical type (Putzmeister P 13 Piston Pump) with pump – for site mixing
 Mixing bucket to hold 1 full bag of grout
 Electric / pneumatic breaker, Measuring cylinder
 Thermometer to check temperature
 Wire brushes, Chisel, Grinder, Vaccum Cleaner

INSPECTION AND PREPARATION

 Inspect concrete surfaces which are to receive grout and verify that they are free of dirt,
grease, oil, curing compounds, paints, impregnations and all loose material or foreign
matter as they likely to affect the bond or performance of the grout.

 Confirm newly placed concrete has been cured sufficiently to attain its design strength
and limit further shrinkage.

 The surface should be roughened by chipping, grinding or other mechanical means

(before placing the Base Plate) to assure bond of the grout to the existing concrete.

 The underside of the base plate should be clean and free from oil, grease, rust, scale, or
other loosely adherent material.
 It may be necessary to provide air-pressure relief holes to allow venting of any isolated
high spots.
 The base plate shall be located to line and level and braced to minimize movement of
the baseplate during the cure period of the grout. If levelling shims are to be removed once
the grout has hardened, then they should be pre-treated with a thin layer of grease.

PREPARATION
 Steel & concrete surfaces in contact with grout, should not be hot prior to placement of
grout. Cold water may be used to cool down the surfaces.
 There should not be any standing water just prior to placement of grout.
 Use form work to withstand the placement of grout & shall be watertight

 Formwork : Before fixing any formwork, ensure that the area to be grouted is clean.
I. The formwork shall be designed so that the grout must flow beneath the base plate to
reach the side furthest from the pouring hopper and not have any easier routes around the
sides.
II. The formwork itself must be constructed to be leak-proof, to prevent any possible grout
loss. This can be achieved by using a foam rubber strip or silicone sealant beneath the
formwork, and at any joints of the formwork. It shall, however, also be provided with drain
holes and plugs.
III. Grouting of holding-down bolts at the same time as under-plate grouting shall not be
allowed. All bolt pockets and sleeves shall be grouted first (upto 80% of the bolt pocket
length)
IV. The formwork shall be constructed in such a way as to keep the final, unrestrained
surface area of the grout to a minimum, to avoid problems with cracking at a later stage.
Wherever possible unrestrained “shoulders” are to be avoided. These have a tendency to
crack and / or debond, due to their unrestrained nature.
V. Formwork will be coated with a suitable mould release agent where necessary to enable
the easy removal of the shuttering. It should be done in such a way as to allow easy
stripping, without causing damage or distress to the grout – particularly if this is to be done
whilst the grout is still ‘green’.
VI. All dirt and debris are to be removed from the grout area before the last piece of
formwork is fixed, to facilitate pre-soaking.
PRE-SOAKING
a. All concrete surfaces within the formwork should be saturated with clean, fresh water
for several hours prior to grouting.
b. Immediately before grouting takes place, any free water should be removed using
an air lance and the shutter checked for stability.

MIXING PROCEDURE
 Pre - wet all equipment just before starting work and keep under the shade.
 Add NanoGrout MG slowly to the pre-measured water.
 Add the whole bag ( part bags are not allowed)
 Mix until lump free for 3-5 minutes.
 Do not add more than maximum water content.
 Samples should be taken immediately after mixing.
 Each test should record batch no., name of product, weather conditions, temperature of
grout, etc.

Note:
1. NanoGrout MG: Water Addition: 14.0% (3.5L) per 25 kg bag. Mixing time is at least 3
minutes.

2. HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURE WORKING

It is suggested that, for temperatures above 35oC or below 10oC, the following guidelines
are adopted as good working practise:
I. Store unmixed materials in dry conditions, in original unopened packs, avoiding exposure
to direct sunlight.
II. In high temperature environments, keep equipment cool, arranging shade protection if
necessary. It is especially important to keep cool those surfaces of the equipment that come
into direct contact with the material itself.
III. Try to avoid application during the hottest times of the day, arrange temporary shading
as necessary.
IV. At lower temperatures, NanoGrout MG should be applied only when the substrate
temperature and the ambient temperature is above 5°C and rising.
V. Make sufficient material, plant and labour available to ensure that application is a
continuous process

PLACING
a. Immediately prior to placement, the mixed grout should be briefly agitated to release any
surface tension. At 25oC, place the grout within 15 minutes of mixing to gain the full benefit
of the expansion process.
b. NanoGrout MG can be placed in thicknesses from 30 mm minimum up to 300 mm in a
single pour when used as an under-plate grout. For thicker sections, it is necessary to fill /
bulk out NanoGrout MG with well graded, silt free aggregate such as Conmix Graded
Aggregate, to minimise heat build up. Filling / bulking out of the grout should not exceed a
ratio of 2:1 grout to aggregate. In case of mechanical placing using a pump, use Conmix 5
mm downgraded aggregate.
c. Any bolt pockets must be grouted / anchored, prior to grouting between the substrate and
the base plate.
d. Continuous grout flow during the grouting operation is essential. Sufficient grout must be
available prior to starting, and time taken to pour a batch must be regulated to the time
taken to prepare the next one.
e. The mixed grout should be poured only from one side of the void to eliminate the
entrapment of air, or surplus pre-soaking water. The grout head must be maintained at all
times so that a continuous grout front is achieved.
f. When the grout reaches the open side of the formwork, and rises above the underside of
the base plate, pouring should continue slowly down the length of the base plate until
completed..
g. If any leaks occur from the formwork shuttering these shall be immediately plugged with
quick setting material such as MoyaProof Plug.
h. Vibration (around the grouted area) should be avoided once grouted.

CURING
 Following the grouting operation, the formwork shall be left in place for a minimum of 24
hours if ambient and substrate temperatures are above 10oC and a minimum of 48
o
hours if the temperatures are 5-10 C.

 The grout shall be cured after initial setting (Exposed surfaces)

 The method of curing can be as follows water curing by spreading wet hessian cloth
/ Gunny bags over the surface or Mist Spray for a period of 7 days or use of suitable
curing compound, viz. JetCure WB / JetCure GP
 Protect the grout from direct sunlight and from extreme weather conditions.
 Remove the form work once the grout has completely hardened ( 24 Hours)

STORAGE
 Store grout in original bags in the shade.
 Keep dry.
 Use grout only from original, unopened bags clearly labeled with the manufacturers
identification & printed instructions.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Gloves, Mask, Eye Protection, Helmets, Protective Boots.

HEALTH & SAFETY

NanoGrout MG is alkaline in nature. Wear face masks, water protective clothing,

goggles and gloves. In case of contact with skin, wash with water. In case of contact
with eyes, flush with water immediately and consult a physician

EQP
There is no problem in technically.
SHOP
In the case of using a non-shrink grout, watertightness is better, so it is judged that the place where leakage occurs will be reduced.
