Słowa this that these those mogą spełniać zarówno funkcję określnika (nie zastępują one
rzeczowinikow lecz je opisują np. This shoe is dirty = Ten but jest brudny = słowo this
tam but), jak i zaimka (wtedy zastępuje on podmiot np. This is a shoe = It is a shoe – To jest
but) Popatrz na przykłady.
this that these those jako określniki (opisują one rzeczownik, który po nich występuje.
Czasami zdania ze słówkami this that these those będziemy tłumaczyć nieco inaczej niż
Np.
That is an apple. Tamto jest jabłko. Brzmi nienaturalnie, prawda? Lepiej więc powiedzieć
Tam jest jabłko. (wiemy, że jest ono daleko). Dodatkowo, w zdaniach można spotkać słowa
here, over here (tutaj) i there, over there (tam), które już w 100% precyzują nam położenie i
odlegość przedmiotu czy osoby.
Those are apples.
