SECTION 2 − Introduction
2−1 Program Overview
Revolution ACT product is a CT scanner based on Brivo CT385 platform which is compact and non-tilt 16 slice system
with 43cm FOV and 65cm diameter gantry bore. The main changes compared with Brivo CT385 are as follows:
Technical Supplement
Technical Supplement
TGPSV board is newly designed TGP for Revolution ACT. TPGSV is combined the functions from TGPG and KDIP card so
that this board not only manages the gantry control but also manages the raw data transmission from DAS to OC. Also,
the service switches are integrated into TGPSV which is legacy concept from Brivo CT315/325. TGPSV can support
Kunlun Table and LingLong table. The main function of TGPSV are as follows:
Scan Data Transfer, TGPSV picks up the scan data from the slip ring RF fiber through J10, repacks the data to
TCP/IP and sends the data to OC through J3.
Cover Interface, the gantry cover houses control/display panel, e-stop/e-reset buttons. The gantry microphone
signals are connected to TGPSV for corresponding functions.
SCBSV Connection, the scan control box is connected to TGPSV for any scan command and e-stop/e-reset
communicate with gantry. Also, TPGSV supplies 24VDC power to SCBSV.
PDU Interface, TGPSV has one PDU interface connected to PDU control board. TGPSV can send out commands to
PDU to control contactor close or open mode. TGPSV can collect the feedback signal from PDU to know whether
PDU working normally.
Gantry Thermal Control, TGPSV collects gantry temperature data from the detector air sensor and controls the
gantry fan to adjust the gantry internal temperature.
Table Control, TGPSV collects the table POT feedbacks and controls the table up/down (only for Kunlun Table),
cradle movement and latch/unlatch.
Technical Supplement
Axial Driver Interface, TGPSV reads the motor encoder feedback and gives the control command to axial driver to
enable gantry rotation and static brake.
Energy Saving Mode, TGPSV cuts off power to the rotating parts when the system enters the energy saving mode
by sending command to PDU control board. Also, TGPSV sends re-power command to PDU when the system quits
energy saving mode.
MSUB Function, TGPSV manages the exposure sequence by working with ORPSV to SYNC gantry rotation, table
movement, X-ray exposure and data acquisition.
Service Switches, the service switches include 120VAC ON/OFF, Axial Drive ON/OFF, HVDC ON/OFF, SYS/MNL,
JOG/CNT, HIGH/LOW.
ORPSV is a newly designed on-board rotation processor for Revolution ACT, and is the central communication point for
rotating subsystems in gantry. The main function of ORPSV is to manage the exposure sequence, control collimator
movement and the interface between generator and other subsystems. Also, ORPSV will control the alignment lights.
Technical Supplement
Djinn Tonix Generator is a newly designed generator for Revolution ACT with 24kW capability. It can support
80kV/100kV/120kV/140kV and Max 200mA for application mode. Djinn Tonix is simpler when compared with JEDI and
includes one power module, one HV Tank and one DC Filter, detailed function as below:
Power Module: Inverter, KV driver, mA driver, rotor driver and interface board are all inside this power module.
HV Tank: HV silicon rectifier stack and filament transformer are all in this Tank.
DC Filter: EMC filter for DC input power.
Atlas16 Detector:
Atlas16 detector is based on the current DoD detector but with bigger modules than DoD. Atlas16 detector has 6
modules and each module has two sides (A-side and B-side) with 136 cells or pixels per module per slice/row. Cells are
labeled A1/B1 through A8/B8, for a total of 16 rows across the detector face (both A and B sides) in z azimuthal

direction. Same as DoD detector, Atlas16 detector can convert X-ray to digital raw data signals in the module and then
send the digital signal to DAS. Each module uses one signal cable connections to the data acquisition system (DAS)
backplane board. Atlas16 detector has better thermal designs compared with DoD detector hence the heater/blower
which are used in Brivo CT385 gantry are not required for Revolution ACT.
New calibration called GCAL (Geometric Calibration) introduced for Atlas detector.
SVDAS:
To support the new detector, a new DAS is designed for Revolution ACT. SVDAS include one DCB board and one
backplane Board.
Tube:
Collimator:
Covers:
Same covers as those used in Brivo CT385 expect with different colour.
3-2 Console
Z440 Console
HP Z440 computer is a standalone computer with chassis. There is no tower for this computer. The computer will
receive power from the console UPS. The console UPS receives its power directly from PDU. HP Z440 computer will be
connected to a single wide screen monitor. HP Z440 computer will use the existing monitor, mouse, keyboard and
SCBSV. HP Z440 configuration is as follows:
Processor Xeon E5-1620 v3, 3.5 GHz, 10MB Cache, 4 cores, 130W, MBW 68GB/s
16GB as 2x8GB
Memory
DDR4 8GB ECC 288-Pin Registered DIMM, 2100 MHz or higher
Two HP 512GB SATA 6GB/s 7.2K rpm Hard Drives Disk (HDD)
HDD make options: Toshiba, Seagate, Western Digital
ONBOARD SATA DEVICES
HP DVD/RW Drive, 9mm, 8X

SLOT 2 PCIe Gen3 x16 AMD Firepro W2100 Graphics Adapter (Display)
SLOT 3 PCIe Gen2 x4 Intel I350T2, Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Card
SLOT 5 PCIe Gen3 x16 AMD Firepro W4300 (recon accelerator option)
The output of W2100 graphics card is DP. Hence a separate DP-DVI cable gets shipped along with HP Z440 computer.
The monitor gets shipped with a DVI-DVI cable. The monitor gets connected to HP Z440 using these two cables. For
details, refer the training document DOC2023388. The Ethernet data transmission is from Gantry to Console without
KDIP board.
3-3 Table
Revolution ACT uses Kunlun table which is same as Brivo CT385.
3-4 PDU
Revolution ACT uses NGPDU series which is similar as Brivo CT385.
3-5 UPS
Revolution ACT supports 1-phase standalone UPS option. This UPS is like the one used in Brivo CT385 and uses the same
chassis as Brivo CT385. The inside chassis of the UPS is supplied by another supplier and the setup procedure differs
from Brivo CT385. The detailed method of this new UPS installation and setup can be found in the service manual.
Technical Supplement
It is important to select the correct OS profile (GEHC-SV) for HP Z440 computer during Load from Cold. Incorrect
selection will lead to the error message which will prompt OS installation with correct OS profile (GEHC-SV).
Technical Supplement
The following SPRs were fixed when HP Z440 was structured into (Revolution) ACT/ACTs products (DOC2028794). The
same have been carried forward in 17BW35.13.

-The FE’s from the USA will be trained by a Senior Service Leader from India during the first installation of Revolution
ACT at a site in California.
-Continuous Training Updates (CTUs) were developed for the (Revolution) ACT/ACTs systems as follows and will be used
for those who FEs who are “L1 AND L2” trained (plus experience in Field) or Proficient CT training:
Technical Supplement
-Improved web based training (CTU) for those who are already Brivo CT385 or Proficient qualified (training scope and
codes under revision by HCI – TBD).
-Proficient training (either HCI or ATC based) followed by web based CTU.
