Decodable Word Cards
Decodable Word Cards
This document contains the Decodable Word Cards to use with the Sounding-Out Decodable Words Routine from the
Inclusion Foundational Reading Lesson Set. A list of these words in a smaller font is contained in the Decodable Word
List. The cards are organized according to the sound-spelling sequence chart, meaning that the words listed for each
sound-spelling list depend on the previous sound-spellings being taught.
These word cards are designed to be used in combination with the Lesson Guides for the Foundational Reading
Lesson Set. The words on the cards are organized by the number of syllables (1 or 2-3). The words in each group are
ordered by the number of phonemes they contain.
The word cards can be used for lessons as is, or you can use them to create your own lists of words. These words
were selected based on a sound-spelling frequency analysis by Devin Kearns and designed by Devin Kearns
(devin.kearns@gmail.com) and Marcia Ferreira.
