A Summary of Parents and Teachers Meeting : Law and Culture

in Education
Hello. I am Mr. Bagus, on this occasion I will make a conclusion from the PTM (Parents
and Teachers Meeting) which was held at BSA. The following is a summary of the material
explained:

The essence of the meeting was to discuss about Law and culture in education. As we
know that law is important to us. The law consists of regulations / rules and laws. So how does
this relate to culture? Culture is a habit that we often do. For example, learning activities can
be called culture. Yes, we can called “learning culture” because we learn to do it over and over
again. Another example: Waking up early in the morning, drinking water, it is a habit.

Then what is the relationship between the two? Regulations are always needed to build
culture. Respect culture for example, is built by rules. How do we train children to respect
properly? Worship Gods for example. It starts with something we make rules for, we
consistently do it. So, it will become a habit. Than, in the end it becomes a culture . Another
example. Child says hello. We get used to it at school. In a simple habit, say “Hi”, “Good
Morning”. It's called resfect. It doesn't come by itself, but we wake up, we get used to it, until
a habit is created. It doesn't matter if the child is introverted or extroverted, what is clear is that
if they is in a safe environment according to them, they will bring out that culture by theirself.
Apologize culture, train children as early as possible when they make mistakes not to hesitate
to apologize. The same is true with a culture of gratitude. Say “thank you” if we already feel
helped.

Where do we start? We create the rules. After we design the rules, teach them to
children repeatedly. That's called a rule enforced to create a new culture for children. Good
habits or bad habits start out of necessity. It's ok. But emphasize that it is the right one. Legal
products are able to create culture. Rules can create culture. The key is who makes the
rules/laws. For example, in a country there is a senator whose job is to make state rules. If the
state wants to run well then law / rule makers must be wise in designing it.

Can we create a good culture for our children? How?

1. Father and Mother must agree on the rules that will be made

2. Consistent apply
Until the child has his own belief system. Then live action and see the results Creating the
culture of a country starts from the family.

This is the conclusion regarding the topics discussed in the PTM.
