NAHAPAY LINE BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The game of basketball continues to grow in popularity throughout the world. Its continued success
demands that the rules that govern the sport ensure that the games are challenging and exciting. At the
same time, the officials must ensure that the rules do not provide opportunities for one (1) team to gain
an advantage over its opponents.

To achieve and maintain these objectives, it is important that all participants, especially officials, have a
thorough understanding of the rules as well as the underlying philosophy behind them.

Basketball teams should be capable of abiding by the rules and regulations of the game and the
implementing guidelines of the tournament.

1. All participating teams shall submit a list with at most 15 eligible players. Qualified players must
be bona fide residents of Nahapay Line, which is composed of Barangays Bacong, Binanua-an,
Bongol San Miguel, Buluangan, Camangahan, Igcocolo, Nahapay, and Sipitan-Badiang. The age
requirement is 18 years old or older. Changes of players, insertion or replacement shall be made
before the commencement of the league.
2. Strict compliance with prescribed playing attire shall be implemented. Players not wearing
proper attire are not allowed to play.
3. A protest shall be made before or immediately after the game. The Captain Ball/ Coach shall
notify the table officials that the game is under protest and shall affix his signature on the score
sheet. A written protest must be submitted within twenty- four (24) hours to formalize the
protest.
4. The officials shall act as the sole judge of all protests. All decisions made are final and
unappealable.
5. Basketball team/s and athlete/s found to be under the influence of drugs and intoxicating
products will be meted one-game suspension on the first offense and the second offense,
suspension for the entire duration of the tournament. This rule includes tolerance of the
coaching staff.
6. Unsportsmanlike behavior (FIGHTING) shall be determined by the gravity of the offense and
upon a careful and thorough study of the Official Referees, a proper recommendation will be
submitted to the officials for corresponding sanctions or actions.

TECHNICALITIES:

a. Spitting on the floor, player, referee management


b. Removing shoes during the game
c. Removing uniform during the game
d. Smoking
e. Continuous complaining
f. Others: Elbows
7. The referees and/or Table Officials can throw out, disqualify, or suspend on the following
ground:
Utterance of unprintable words towards recognized referee/s and official/s of the tournament.

Other unsportsmanlike attitude/s or act/s committed inside or outside the basketball court.

8. Fifteen (15) minutes grace period for team appearance will apply for every scheduled game. The
non-appearance shall be declared a loss by default or forfeit.
Note: Banned fee and/or consolation prize is forfeited in case of default/walkout.
9. Games called off due to inevitable circumstances shall be rescheduled.
10. FIBA amateur basketball rule will be applied throughout the entire tournament.
11. All participating teams involved, officials, and referees are human beings. Therefore, errors by
anyone may occur during the games.
12. The GROUND RULES intends to create equal chances - accidental errors, that do not influence
the game, and do not give an advantage should be penalized.
13. Most of the errors made by the Table Officials are technical errors and they can be corrected by
the rules.
14. All teams are entitled to secure their victory, but this must be done in the spirit of fair play and
sportsmanship.
