1. SCOPE
This document defines the estimated instrument gas consumption at (SP1) Stupa Platform for SOUTH
MAHAKAM FIELD DEVELOPMENT PROJECT.
In the Main Stupa (SP1), the instruments related items including instrumentation packages that need the
instrument gas are on/off valves (ESDV, PSDV, SDV, BDV, and XV), adjustable choke valves (HCV), control
valves (LV) and gas driven pump for WHCP: HP1 (DHSV) and HP2 (SSV & WV) for both present and future
instruments / equipments.
The mechanicals and electricals related items including packages that need the instrument gas are Corrosion
Inhibitor Pump, ORMAT CCVT, Closed Drain Transfer Pumps, Open Drain Pump, Disposal Tube Pump,
Flare/Vent Purge, Flare Pilot, Methanol Injection Pump and Biocide Injection Pump. The pneumatic
instrument gas consumption calculations for those equipments shall be refered to project document CN –

Based on final selected WHCP vendor calculation, fully charge the accumulators HP1 at the minimum Instrument gas
pressure (4.5 barg) from zero to normal operating hydraulic pressure (615 barg) within 1 minute and from normal
operating hydraulic pressure (615 barg) to maximum operating hydraulic pressure (650 barg) within 4.9 minutes.
The selected Pump for HP1 is HASKEL DSTV-150 and pump performance as shown in the Chart-1.
Chart - 1
So the Instrument gas consumption for HP1 Pump (at 4.5 barg gas driven pressure) = 0.66 s m3/min = 39.73 Nm3/h
= 24.7 SCFM

Based on final selected WHCP vendor calculation, fully charge the accumulators HP2 at the minimum Instrument gas
pressure (4.5 barg) from zero to normal operating hydraulic pressure (330 barg) within 3 minutes and from normal
operating hydraulic pressure (330 barg) to maximum operating hydraulic pressure (380 barg) within 8 minutes.
The selected Pump for HP2 is HASKEL DSTV-100 and pump performance as shown in the Chart-2.
Chart - 2
So the Instrument gas consumption for HP2 Pump (at 4.5 barg gas driven pressure) = 0.82 s m3/min = 49.38 Nm3/h
= 30.7 SCFM
