• #40-06 Pastel Blue (A) – 4 skeins
• #40-02 Cream (B) – 1 skein
Needle: US Size 9 (5.5 mm) straight needles and
16” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, removable stitch
markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, 8 - 1”
buttons, sewing needle and thread

11 sts x 14.5 rows = 4” in St st

STITCH GUIDE
K1, P1 Rib:
*K1, P1; rep from * to end. Rep for every row.

Stockinette St (St st):


Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2 (WS): Purl
Rep Rows 1-2 throughout.

Garter St:
Knit every row.

With A, cast on 33 sts.
Work in St st until piece meas 26”.

Front
With A, cast on 34 sts.
Work in St st for 6 ½” ending with a WS row.

Divide for Fronts


Left Front
K17, cast on 5 sts, place rem sts on waste yarn or st holder, turn – 22 sts on needles, 17 sts on holder.
Next Row: K5, purl to end.
Next Row: Knit.
Rep last two rows for 18”.

Neck shaping:
Row 1(WS): BO 7, purl to end – 15 sts.
Rows 2 & 4: Knit.
Row 3: BO 3, purl to end – 12 sts.
Row 5: BO 2, purl to end – 10 sts.
Row 6: BO all rem sts.

Right Front
Place 17 sts from st holder on needle with RS facing.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: P12, k5.
Row 3 & 4: Rep Rows 1 & 2.
Row 5 (Buttonhole Row): K2, yo, k2tog, k to end.
Rep Rows 2 & 3, working Buttonhole Row on a RS row every 2” until 8 buttonholes are worked and piece
meas 24 ½” from cast on.

Neck shaping:
Row 1(RS): BO 5, knit to end – 12 sts.
Row 2 & 4: Purl.
Row 3: BO 1, knit to end – 11 sts.
Row 5: BO 1, knit to end – 10 sts
Row 6: BO all rem sts.

Sleeves (Make 2)
With B, CO 18.
Work 4 rows of K1, P1 Rib; cut B and attach A.
Change to St st and work 2 rows.
Inc Row (RS): K1, kfb, knit to last 2 sts, kfb, k1 – 2 sts inc’d.
Rep Inc Row every 4th row 3 more times – 26 sts.
Work even in St st until sleeve meas 7”.

FINISHING
Hood
Sew shoulder seams.
With RS facing, circular needle and A, pick up and knit 34 sts evenly across neck edge.
Work in St st until Hood meas 7”.
BO. Fold hood in half and sew together along bound off edge.

Hood Edging
With B and circular needle, pick up and knit 51 sts around edge of hood.
Work 5 rows of Garter stitch. BO. Sew Hood Edging to front neck edge.

Meas 4 ¾” down from each shoulder seam on outside edge, place removable markers. Center sleeve
between markers. Sew sleeve to body. Remove markers. Rep for second sleeve.
Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew bottom of sack closed.
Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.
Weave in all ends.
