What is FIRST AID?

IT IS AN EMERGENCY OR IMMEDIATE


TEMPORARY CARE OR HELP GIVEN TO AN
INJURED OR SUDDENLY TAKEN ILL PERSON
USING READILY AVAILABLE MATERIALS. IF
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IS NOT AVAILABLE
OR DELAYED.

1964. TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

1964.01 QUALIFICATIONS
- First Aider must be able must be able to read
and write and must have completed a course in
first aid conducted by the Philippine National Red
Cross or any organization accredited by the same.

1964.02 OPPORTUNITY FOR TRAINING

 All employers without required TRAINED first aider on the date of the
effectivity of this standards shall, six (6) months have the required
number of his worker under go the prescribed training in first aid

1964.03: REFRESHER TRAINING


 OSH PERSONNEL AND FIRST AIDER OF EVERY ESTABLISHMENT SHALL
UNDERGO A MINIMUM EIGHT (8) HRS TRAINING REFRESHER COURSE IN
THEIR RESPECTIVE FIELD ATLEAST ONCE A YEAR

 GIVE IMMEDIATE TEMPORARY TREATMENT

 PARTICIPATE IN THE MAINTENANCE OF OSH PROGRAM

 MAINTAIN MEDICAL SERVICE AND FACILITIES

WHO IS THE FIRST AID PROVIDER?
Is someone trained in the delivery of initial
emergency procedures, using limited equipment to
perform a primary assessment and intervention until
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrive.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FIRST
AID PROVIDER
Act as a bridge that fills the gap between the victim
and the physician
Ensure the personnel safety and that of the patient
and bystanders
Summon more advance medical care as needed
Provide the needed care for the patient
Assist EMT and medical personnel
Record all assessments and care given to the
patient
