Session Title Intercultural Relations in the Philippines: Understanding Diversity and Unity
Session Objectives: At the end of the session, the students will be able to:
1. Learn the brief overview of the Philippines
2. Reiterate the Historical Background of the Philippines in terms of indigenous tribes,
Spanish Colonization, Ethnic Groups, Languages, Cultural Diversity, and Religion
3. Determine the intercultural challenges
4. Suggest some solutions related to intercultural challenges.

The students will show different pictures about the culture of the
Philippines
Concept 25 minutes The students will explore:
Exploration 1) The historical background of the Philippines in terms of indigenous
tribes, Spanish Colonization, Ethnic Groups, Languages, Cultural
Diversity, and Religion
2) Intercultural challenges in the Philippines
Gearing-up 5 minutes The students will answer the following questions through oral
recitation:
1. How can we, Filipinos, ensure respect for cultural diversity even if
our country is home to numerous indigenous groups, each with their
own unique traditions, beliefs, and practices?
2. What do you think are the effective communication strategies to
help bridge gaps and promote better understanding in terms of having
over 180 languages in the Philippines?
Evaluation 15 minutes The students will be evaluated based on intercultural relations.
