WRITING
A maximum of 4 marks can be awarded for Part1 task. A maximum of 16 marks can be awarded for a
Part 2 task.
Each student's overall mark of twenty can be calculated by adding the Part1 mark to the Part 2 mark
e.g. marks of 3 and 14 give an overall mark of 17 out of 20.
Part 1 focuses on communication ability. Lack in this part should be penalized to the extent that it
impedes communication.
Part 2
focuses on organisationand the development of ideas, style, range of vocabulary and accuracy. The
mark scheme should be interpreted with reference to the learning outcomes for Grade 6 and Grade 7.
There are two band scores available for each band. The .1 band score represents a performance
towards the bottom of each band of .2 band score represents a performance towards the top the band
e.g. a band score of 4.2 represents a better band 4 performance than 4.1.
Tha bands scores are converted into marks using the table below.
